"Ahh——"
The gap-toothed girl's shrill scream echoed through the courtyard, making the few people inside pale with fright, and they all glared at Fu Qi with unbridled resentment.
When people are seized by overwhelming fury, they fail to notice small details. For instance, none of them stopped to wonder why Qin Zhen had jumped straight into the horde of the Zombie, not until the gap-toothed girl's scream warped into a confused lilt.
"Ahh—— why aren't they, aren't they biting me?"
"Because I stuck an invisibility talisman on you!"
These two exchanges drifted through the sounds of pouring rain, crackling flames, and the guttural snarls of the Zombie. They were not overly loud, but everyone in the yard was already fixated on the scene beyond the wall, so every word reached their ears clearly.
Ya, Li and the others were utterly stunned.
The scream could not be faked, nor could that little girl's bewildered childish voice. Under normal circumstances, anyone who fell into a horde of the Zombie would be torn to shreds in the blink of an eye. There was no way the gap-toothed girl would have had the chance to ask that question.
Fu Qi seized the moment to wave a syringe in front of them, explaining, "This is a Zombie interference agent. It can mask the Zombie's senses for a short period of time."
He walked over to the elderly grandma and asked politely, "Ma'am, would you mind if I give you an injection?"
"…Ah?" The grandma was still too dazed to process what was happening.
"Time is of the essence, so I'll take that as a yes." Before the old woman could react, Fu Qi rolled up her sleeve and injected the syringe's contents directly.
Then he turned to Ya and Li, who were staring at him with their mouths agape, and said, "We don't have many doses of the agent left, so the two of you will have to find a chance to get to the vehicle on your own."
This Zombie interference agent was something they had found in the backpacks of some people from Country A when they were searching for medicine in the hospital, and the total supply was very limited.
Fu Qi had given one dose to Qin Zhen, telling her to inject it into the gap-toothed girl, so as to cover up Qin Zhen's special ability to evade the Zombie. This way, everyone would assume Qin Zhen could move freely among the Zombie only because of the agent. She had to get out of the yard first so she could drive the vehicle back to pick the rest of them up.
He had given a dose to the grandma because she was in poor health and could barely walk a few steps without getting winded.
As for the others, every possible dose saved was a necessary one.
Finally, Fu Qi squatted down in front of the ten-year-old girl who was already teary-eyed from the stinging smoke, and said, "Sorry for this."
He then lifted the little girl into his arms, wrapped his coat tight around her, and stroked her head gently. "Just close your eyes, okay? You have nothing to fear."
Once he had said everything that needed to be said, Fu Qi stepped back a few paces and sprinted toward the perimeter wall. Holding the little girl securely in one arm, he used his other hand to prop himself against the wall and vaulted up, landing on the top of the wall in the blink of an eye. He was now only half a meter away from the surging horde of the Zombie outside.
The scent of fresh, living flesh wafted off him, sending the Zombie into a rabid frenzy. They let out terrifying, guttural snarls and swarmed toward him, and Fu Qi led the entire horde to drift away in the opposite direction from the yard.
At that exact moment, Qin Zhen, who was standing outside the gate, brandished a peach wood sword to fend off the approaching Zombie, yelling as she fought, "I'm opening the gate now!"
Everyone had heard the gap-toothed lady's confused cry with their own ears, and had seen Qin Zhen standing unharmed in the middle of the Zombie horde, beating the creatures back with her own eyes. There was no way Ya and Li could still doubt the effectiveness of the Zombie interference agent.
The two girls exchanged a quick glance, pushing down the shock roiling in their chests. They mumbled a hasty "Take care of yourself" to the grandma, then scurried over to the section of the perimeter wall far from where Fu Qi had jumped, and began to climb.
Once Qin Zhen saw that the two girls had hidden themselves safely, she pulled the bolt on the big iron gate open. The horde of the Zombie outside immediately crowded into the yard.
A large fallen tree lay inside the courtyard, which was just wide enough for the Zombie to squeeze through, but too narrow for the vehicle to drive in. Qin Zhen had to step back inside to help the grandma, who remained frozen in place, completely ignored by the Zombie. She walked a few steps supporting the elderly woman, but soon grew impatient with the slow pace, bent down, and hauled the grandma onto her back.
She carried the old woman out of the yard, settled her into the vehicle, then drove around the perimeter to the spot where Ya and Li were waiting.
The vast majority of zombies had been drawn away by Fu Qi, but dozens still lingered around the two women's feet. Unarmed, they did not dare to move an inch. It was not until Qin Zhen got out of the car and shoved the zombies back a safe distance that the two got the chance to jump down quickly and scramble into the vehicle.
Fu Qi was the last one to make his way back.
The horde of zombies piling up beneath Fu Qi's position had made the courtyard wall no longer safe. He simply hoisted the ten-year-old girl in his arms and leaped onto the rooftop. Right beside them, a fire blazed, belching thick black smoke. The misty rain and flickering flames wove his figure holding the little girl into a hazy silhouette, as if he would be swallowed whole by the raging inferno any second.
Qin Zhen, ever the stickler for traffic rules, honked the horn to warn the zombies blocking the path to get out of the way. Once she had made her intentions clear, she slammed on the gas and drove the car as close to Fu Qi as she could get.
Even so, there was still a gap of more than two meters between the car and the rooftop.
Fu Qi narrowed his eyes to gauge the distance. Without a single second of hesitation, he lunged forward. With a heavy thud, he landed perfectly on the roof of the car. "Drive!" he shouted.
As he moved, the zombies that had been climbing up the rooftop immediately turned to follow him. But the duo that had fought side by side for so long had built up an unshakable tacit understanding. The very second Fu Qi landed on the car roof, Qin Zhen was already fully prepared.
The car swerved sharply, rumbled onto the main road, and sped off into the distance at top speed.
Outside the vehicle, there was the crackle of raindrops, the raging wildfire, and a sea of dark zombies. Inside, all that could be heard were rapid, panicked gasps. No one spoke for a long while, as if they had all just woken up from a surreal nightmare.
"Tap, tap, tap—"
All of a sudden, a slender hand rapped on the rear window.
The crisp knocking sound jolted everyone inside the car out of their skin. When they saw Qin Zhen roll down the front passenger window, Ya hurriedly followed suit and rolled down her own window. In the next moment, the wide-eyed, dazed ten-year-old girl was carefully passed in through the window from the roof of the car.
She had been shielded in Fu Qi's arms the entire time, so she did not have a single scratch on her. Only her hair and the hem of her clothes were slightly damp from the rain when she was handed inside.
Ya and Li, whose own clothes were nearly soaked through, reached out with trembling arms to pull her in and held her tightly in their embrace.
Right after that, a dark figure flashed by the front passenger window, and Fu Qi nimbly slipped into the seat.
Qin Zhen kept her eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead, looking cool and unflappable. "You did good," she said.
In the dim light of the carriage, Fu Qi glanced over and saw that the Zombie had smeared mud on her face at some point. The foundation and mud were mixed together, making her look rather grubby and comical, yet her expression was perfectly stern and aloof.
Fu Qi nearly burst out laughing right then and there.
He coughed lightly to compose himself, and replied in the same calm, detached tone, "Not as smooth as your move last time."
The Zombie was thoroughly pleased with his response. She glanced sideways slightly and gave him a approving nod.
Fu Qi had to fight with every ounce of his strength to hold back his laughter, and resist the urge to pull her into his arms and pinch her silly little face.
The pair played off each other so seamlessly, acting as if this life-threatening, hair-raising situation was just another ordinary day for them. The five women in the back seats, however, were still in a daze, as if they could not believe what they had just lived through.
"Ladies," Fu Qi called out.
The Zombie was in the mood to play the cool, aloof big shot, so all the follow-up matters fell to Fu Qi to handle.
He turned around, and asked politely, "It's already very late now. For safety reasons, we'll be staying at the backup safe house set up by the Ankang Base nearby for the night. Is that alright with everyone?"
Before the people in the back could answer, Qin Zhen asked in confusion, "Aren't we going back to our old place?"
The second the words left her mouth, she frowned in frustration. That kind of question was something only a sidekick would ask, and it completely ruined her cool big shot persona.
Fu Qi caught sight of that, curled the corners of his mouth, and feigned a look of surprise as he said, "Didn't you say earlier that if they were willing to come out of the cellar, we'd take them to a safe spot to rest first?"
Qin Zhen quickly chimed in, "Right, right, that was me, I just forgot about it a moment ago."
But she had no idea where the backup safe points of Ankang Base were located.
Fu Qi picked up the signal from the Zombie, smiled faintly, then turned back to the ladies huddled in the backseat and asked, "Is that alright with all of you?"
The women in the back were all rather stunned, only Ya barely snapped back to her senses, and said in a trembling voice, "This is the base's place... is it really okay for us to go there?"
"It's perfectly fine," Fu Qi said. "The government set up these spots specifically to help people in need."
He only offered that simple explanation. Once none of the others raised any objections, he very thoughtfully volunteered to take the driver's seat.
The Zombie heaved a sigh of relief, quickly switched seats and settled into the passenger seat.
The Ankang Base would send people over to this plantation regularly to harvest crops like sand pears. For the sake of convenience, and also in case any survivors wandered this way, they had set up several safe spots in the nearby area.
By the time they arrived, the sky had turned completely dark. Fu Qi quickly inspected all the facilities around the area, confirmed that no zombies had broken into the spot, then led the group inside to settle in.
This safe spot was renovated from a small warehouse. It wasn't very large, but once the warehouse door was pulled down, it was almost completely sealed off, making it extremely safe.
Inside were piled up daily necessities such as mats, bedding, and clothes, as well as a large water vat covered with a dustproof cloth, which was filled with clean domestic water. All of these things came in handy right then.
The elderly elder had just barely recovered a little, and the bumpy ride and fright along the way had left her in quite poor shape. The other four were all underage girls, and the spring rain was still chilly, so Fu Qi was worried they might get sick. He voluntarily stepped outside to give the group the space to boil water and clean themselves up.
Qin Zhen couldn't join the other women to wash up, so she followed Fu Qi outside. The moment the warehouse door shut, she threw herself at him, "Sweetie, you're the best!"
"I'm not the best," Fu Qi blocked her with his arm, and said, "I'm a total creep."
"How are you a..." Qin Zhen was about to stand up for him, refusing to let him talk about himself that way, but halfway through her retort, she remembered that she was the one who had called him that in the first place.
She lowered her head sheepishly and mumbled, "Ugh, you're such a grudge-holder, so petty..."
"Petty?" Fu Qi raised an eyebrow. "Who was it that just helped you build up that big shot image?"
"You were!"
Though she hadn't gotten to see the look on Ya's face when she had charged into the horde of zombies screaming viciously while holding the gap-toothed girl, and she hadn't observed the expressions of Ya and the others after she'd played the cool big shot so nonchalantly to keep up her aloof persona, the deafening silence from all of them had already showed just how shocked they were. The Zombie was so over the moon she felt like she could float right off the ground.
Qin Zhen was absolutely delighted. She said, "Sweetie, that was all you helping me out, and I helped you too. We're both so awesome!"
She tried to wrap her arms around his arm, but Fu Qi pushed her away. He said, "I'm not awesome. I'm a petty creep."
...Why did he just stack more flaws on top of that one?
No big deal, the Zombie was the bigger person, she wasn't going to nitpick with Fu Xiangxiang, this little man.
"Sweetie~" She grabbed his hand and tried to throw herself into his arms for a hug, only to be blocked by Fu Qi once again.
Fu Qi stated in all seriousness, "In public, I'm helping you to preserve our team's dignity. In private, we are teammates, so I expect you to act with proper respect. Especially this kind of forced intimate physical contact that disregards other people's wishes is illegal. If you keep doing this, I will really call the cops on you."
The Zombie stopped reluctantly, muttering under her breath, "Always using the law to scare me... making a huge fuss over nothing..."
"If you haven't done anything wrong, how could the law scare you?"
Qin Zhen was left speechless for a moment, then squatted down by the warehouse door and said, "Fine, no touching! I don't care anyway!"
When Qin Zhen was with Fu Qi before, she didn't take a bath every single day, but whenever she felt dirty and wanted to wash up, Fu Qi would find water for her, so she could clean herself up properly every few days without a problem.
And that previous month, she had been shot and injured, so weak that she had to be carried around in Fu Qi's arms all day long. It was so lazy and cozy, and she loved it.
But those few days they stayed in the cellar, she had no freedom at all, and couldn't even take a bath. For a Zombie with a cleanliness obsession, that was absolutely unbearable.
She put up with all of it for the mission, but now that the mission had reached this point and she had finally gotten out of the cellar, Fu Qi had changed. Not only did he refuse to let her cuddle and cling to him anymore, he even threatened her.
The Zombie was so upset.
She squatted under the awning at the warehouse entrance, staring for a while at the protective railings surrounding the area in the dark of night, listening to the soft patter of the drizzle. Then suddenly she bowed her head, buried her face in her knees, and let out a tiny, choked sob, her thin shoulders trembling slightly.
After several intermittent little sobs, she heard Fu Qi ask, "What's wrong?"
The Zombie ignored him and kept sobbing to herself.
"Sweetie?" Fu Qi's voice turned a little tense.
A moment later, the sound of footsteps came, and Qin Zhen felt him stop right beside her.
"Ugh." Fu Qi sighed helplessly, and rested his hand on Qin Zhen's back.
His palm was warm, and the Zombie loved that feeling.
Fu Qi really fell for the whole miserable act, Qin Zhen thought.
She was all ready to lift her head with a tearful, aggrieved look, but then she heard Fu Qi say, "I've told you over and over, no eating grass, no eating zombies, no eating garbage... lift your head up and let me see what you've snuck to eat this time."
Qin Zhen: "..."
She jerked her head up, spun around and pounced right onto Fu Qi, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him wildly. "You're the one who eats garbage! You love eating garbage the most!"
Fu Qi said, "I don't love eating garbage. I love eating my Sweetie..."
Some people really get beaten just because they ask for it.
Qin Zhen punched him, but even that didn't stop Fu Qi from being mischievous. He staggered a little to steady himself, then said, "Hitting me is okay, but you can't take advantage of me secretly, or I'll still call the cops..."
Reminded by his words, the Zombie stood up and reached out her hands towards him, but Fu Qi caught her wrists and hugged her from behind.
"You're way too fierce. I'm so scared, I should throw you outside the railings," Fu Qi said as he held her by the waist and pretended to hurl her out.
The Zombie was so thin that he lifted her right off the ground. Her lower half was hanging in the air as he swung her out into the drizzle. She yelped "Hey! Hey! Hey!" before his grip on her waist tightened again, her legs swished around in the fine rain for half a circle, and he pulled her right back under the awning.
Fu Qi whispered by her ear, "Why is this Zombie so sticky? How come I can't throw her away?"
He pretended to throw her out once more, then caught her and brought her back again, before he said in a sudden tone of realization, "Oh, that's because I don't actually want to throw you away."
The Zombie hunched over and grabbed his hands that were wrapped around her waist, laughing so hard.
"You still have the face to laugh?" Fu Qi let go of her and said, "You leave me aside the second something fun catches your eye, then come act all pitiful when you need me. How can you be so annoying?"
"I'm not hating it at all," Qin Zhen snuggled up to his arm, and this time Fu Qi didn't push her away.
The Zombie then pressed her dirty little face against his shoulder, and mumbled, "Sweetie, do that thing we just did again."
"Do what?"
"You know, that thing..." The Zombie grew shy, and whispered, "Throw me out, then catch me back, and then say I'm your precious baby that you just can't bear to throw away..."
It was a little silly, the kind of game you'd play to soothe a small child, but the feeling of being doted on was so wonderful that the Zombie loved every second of it.
"I never said any of that," Fu Qi corrected her. "I didn't ramble on that much, don't make stuff up."
"It's the same thing!" Qin Zhen shook his arm, begging him to keep playing with her, but Fu Qi refused.
She was about to pester him endlessly when Fu Qi teased her that she hadn't bathed in way too long and smelled funny.
The Zombie, stung by his jab, lifted her sleeve to sniff at her arm, then chased after him pretending to hit him.
As they tussled, the heavy warehouse door behind them creaked open from the inside, and Ya called out for them to come in.
There were quite a few of the girls, but they hadn't slept on the ground in ages and were still getting used to it—what made them even more uncomfortable was having a man so close by, so they all finished washing up very quickly.
The second she saw the others, the Zombie dropped all her playful antics in an instant, put on a calm, composed look, and replied with a quiet "mm" before stepping inside.
As she walked past Ya, she couldn't resist leaning over to whisper quickly, "My acting skills are way better than yours!"
It took Ya a second to process what she'd said, and she stared after her, completely speechless. "You're such a weirdo!"
The Zombie was already trotting happily off to take a bath.
She didn't trust the other girls not to barge in on her while she was scrubbing up, so she'd made Fu Qi stand guard for her. They'd strung up two curtains across the warehouse: Ya and the other girls were on one side, Fu Qi was in the middle, and Qin Zhen was in the innermost section.
Luckily, Ya and the rest of the girls had already heard Fu Qi call Qin Zhen "baby" before, so they didn't think anything odd of the setup.
She dragged her feet through her bath, slathered on some foundation, and only then was it Fu Qi's turn to wash up out in the open.
By the time everyone was done, the sky had turned pitch black.
Humans needed their sleep. Ya and the other girls, worn out from all the shocks they'd been through, barely talked before bed. Everyone lay quietly on their own spots, and the only sound to be heard was the patter of rain outside.
Everyone had adjusted to the new environment just fine—except for the Zombie.
With other people around, she couldn't be too affectionate with Fu Qi. She lay pressed up against him for a while, then turned over to rummage in her bag, only for Fu Qi to press a hand down on hers.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm bored. I want to play with my Rubik's cube."
"You can't see a thing in here, what's the point of playing that? Go to sleep."
Qin Zhen wriggled to free her hand so she could dig into her bag, pointing out that she didn't even need to sleep. "Then I'll get my portable fan."
It was far too cold for a fan right now, and Fu Qi stopped her again. Fu Qi wrapped his arm around her, and breathed a quiet reminder in her ear, "Even the kids over there aren't messing around with those silly little toys. What would they think if they saw their big, tough boss acting like that? You'd never be Sister Qin to them again—they'd start calling you Little Qin instead."
The Zombie hesitated, torn for a moment, then grinned slyly. "They're all asleep!"
On this quiet rainy night, even the softest sound carried. She hadn't bothered to lower her voice when she said that, and right as the words left her mouth, Ya called out, "Nope, I'm still awake."
"Me too."
"I am too."
"Mm-hmm."
Four girls' voices rang out one after another. The Zombie realized that the only person who might actually be asleep—well, or passed out—was the frail old lady. She was so embarrassed she snapped, "What are all of you doing still awake in the middle of the night?!"
"I can't sleep," Ya said. "I'm not used to sharing a space with a guy."
Qin Zhen immediately rolled over to snuggle tight against Fu Qi, hooking her leg over his body as she said, "Then you'll just have to get used to it slowly. It's raining outside, Sweetie is definitely not going out! You're just a kid, and we won't—won't let him leave!"
Ya and the others were separated from them by a curtain, and she called out from the other side, "I'm just saying how I honestly feel, I never meant to kick him out."
That line was just a statement of fact, an admission that they felt unsafe, not a demand to chase anyone away. They were reasonable people, and they would never make their savior camp out in the wild just because they felt a little awkward.
Ya added, "I never wanted Sweetie's guy to make concessions for us, and I know you wouldn't budge anyway. You're already picking on a kid, so you definitely won't give an inch... Back in the old days, you'd be the type to walk up to kids on the street and make silly faces to scare them."
The Zombie sat up, fuming. "Slander! You're insulting me! I'm gonna fight you!"
She scrambled furiously toward the curtain to get at Ya, only for Fu Qi to grab her ankle and drag her back. "Stay put. Stop squirming around."
The Zombie whined, "She's bullying me!"
Fu Qi said, "Then tell her you're going to hand her over to the base."
That sounded like a great idea. The Zombie was immediately pacified, and she nodded vigorously. "I'll also get the teachers at the base to assign her tons and tons of homework! Work her to the bone!"
Fu Qi said, "That's pretty ruthless, isn't it?"
"Because I'm a vicious zom—person!" She almost let the secret slip, and hurried to correct herself. "Next time I'll even use a kid to lure zombies out, heh heh."
At that remark, Qin Zhen thought back to the time she'd grabbed the gap-toothed girl and jumped straight into a horde of zombies. She was the real master of acting here!
Ya and the others thought of that same incident too, and all of them fell silent.
After a quiet moment, Li suddenly spoke up. "If we go to the base, can we really go to school like normal?"
"The central government at the Northern City Base has issued a unified rule that all underage children must attend school. The curriculum has been adjusted, it's not the same as before the apocalypse, but I don't know the exact details—my job is to locate people, not to teach," Fu Qi said in his calm, unhurried tone. "All government-run bases are strictly following this directive right now. Private bases have their own rules, so I can't guarantee anything about those."
Ya asked, "Which base are we going to?"
"The nearest one, Ankang Base. It's run by the government."
Li asked, "Can elderly people go there too?"
"Yes," Fu Qi said. "They just need to do what they can to help out, like simple cleaning work."
"Are there laws there?"
"Of course there are. The laws for protecting minors are still fully in effect."
All the things Qin Zhen had mentioned earlier were being asked over one by one by the two girls, and Fu Qi answered every question steadily and smoothly. With nothing left to do, Qin Zhen got bored. She waited until Fu Qi wasn't paying attention, then snuck a hand over to rummage through his backpack.
Her hand had barely stretched out when it was caught and pulled back.
Li asked, "Can anyone use the zombie disruptor?"
Fu Qi held the Zombie's hand still as he answered calmly, "No. The disruptors are in short supply. They're prioritized for special teams on missions and teams that head out to scavenge supplies. The base is relatively safe, so ordinary people don't need them for now."
The warehouse went quiet for a little while, then Ya asked, "If we agree... when do we leave?"
"Someone will come to pick you all up tomorrow," Fu Qi replied.
"...That soon?!"
Fu Qi said, "Baby and I have two tasks: to find you all, and to convince you to come to the base."
In other words, the moment they spotted the group of girls, Fu Qi had already sent their location to Ankang Base. The rescue team had arrived long ago, but they had stayed hidden this whole time so as not to scare anyone.
"..." The two girls were left speechless.
"So you've all agreed to come to the base?"
From behind the curtain in the next room came the faint rustle of whispers. The several girls discussed it for a few minutes before Ya took a deep breath and replied, "We're sure. We'll go!"
"Great." Fu Qi caught Qin Zhen's fidgeting hand. "Stop squirming, baby. Send a message to Lu Xing, tell her to come pick you all up tomorrow morning."
The Zombie perked up at once and quickly reached for her phone.
Ya and the others were shocked again. "There are phones at the base?"
"Don't get any ideas. Only some of the field staff are allowed to carry phones." The Zombie was too lazy to grab a stylus, so she held Fu Qi's finger to tap on the screen, kicking her feet happily as she typed. "Little kids should focus on studying, no phones allowed!"
She wasn't a little kid, so she got to play with a phone.
The two teenage girls who only had a primary school education were very sensitive to the words "little kids", and huffed in silence, too annoyed to say anything.
But the Zombie's good mood didn't last long. Right after she sent the message, Fu Qi took the phone away from her.
Bored again, she dug around persistently in her shoulder bag, and soon said, "I can't sleep, I want candy!"
Fu Qi was about to say that eating candy late at night was bad for the teeth, but he accidentally caught the sound of two people swallowing hard at the mention of sweets. He paused for a second, then said helplessly, "Go ahead, but don't eat too many."
Qin Zhen took out her candies.
They were given to her by Tian Li's teammates, wrapped in colorful cellophane. There were two full bags of them, so many that they wouldn't all fit in her small shoulder bag. She had to take them out of the bags and tuck a dozen or so into the bag instead.
The crinkling sound of the cellophane wrappers being torn open was loud as thunder in the dead of night. Everyone was already craving the sweets, and to make it worse, Qin Zhen liked to crunch her candy as she ate, the crisp "crunch, crunch" sounds coming one after another.
"Give me one." Ya suddenly spoke up, asking for a piece.
"No." Qin Zhen refused. "Last time I offered you one, you said no. So you can't have any now."
Ya went silent for a few seconds, then said uncertainly, "I've noticed it for a while... you stutter a little, don't you?"
The Zombie froze completely, standing stock still for a full half minute before she snapped back, trying to sound tough even as she fumbled over her words, "Y-y-you're the one who stutters!"
"You do stutter," Ya said with certainty. "You can't really tell with short sentences, but the second you try to say something longer, it slips out. Go on, repeat what I just said and let me hear it."
The Zombie gaped, unable to get a single word out.
"Grown adult and you still stutter." Just like how Qin Zhen had teased them for being illiterate the other day, Ya was now teasing the Zombie right back.
The Zombie cared a lot about her pride, and she couldn't stand being mocked by a bunch of human brats. She scrambled to her feet, flipped the curtain aside, and charged straight at the group of girls, determined to tackle Ya and give her a good spanking.
It was pitch black, and the girls were all huddled close together. She lunged at the first person she could reach and started hitting, and that person yelped and tried to block her, accidentally brushing against the candy the Zombie was clutching in her hand.
"She's got candy! Quick, grab it!"
The second those words were out, even the two little girls who had been sitting quietly listening to the whole conversation got excited, yelling and pushing their way over.
Outnumbered, the Zombie was pulled and tugged from all sides until she was pushed down onto the bed.
Seeing her candy about to be snatched away, she yelled at the top of her lungs, "Sweetie, help me!"
"This is girl stuff, how could I, a guy, step in?" Fu Qi said lazily from the other side of the curtain. "If I did, I'd just be labeled a pervert again, right?"
Qin Zhen: "!"
He's using her own words against her again?
What a petty Fu Xiangxiang!
