She missed getting into a top high school by just half a point on her middle school entrance exam.

She missed clearing the first-tier university cutoff by one point on the college entrance exam.

When she sat the civil service exam, her overall score was only 0.1 points below that of the last person admitted.

At thirty, Lin Xiao had already lived through a third of her life, yet accomplished nothing.

She worked a job that paid five thousand yuan a month, with only one day off each week and frequent overtime. Her family kept urging her to get married, yet she had never even had a boyfriend.

Every night before falling asleep, she could not help thinking:

“If only I had worked a little harder in ninth grade. If only I had gotten one more multiple-choice question right on the college entrance exam. If only I had taken the provincial civil service exam instead of the national one... maybe I would have made it.”

The more uneventful her life became, the more Lin Xiao longed for the past. She always wished she could go back more than a decade and change herself.

Then one day, she woke from a dream and found that she truly had returned to the age of fifteen.

It was the summer of 2002. Her middle school entrance exams were over, and she was about to fill out her school preferences.

Lin Xiao regretted that she could not change her exam score, but she was also grateful that the future was still in her hands.

This time, she would not fall short by just a little.

Reader's Guide:

1. The story of an ordinary girl who returns to the past and, through her own efforts, steadily builds a better future.

2. Rebirth does not make the heroine smarter. Aside from a little knowledge of what lies ahead, she has no special advantages. There will be no sweeping business victories or dramatic stock-market schemes.

3. Other than rebirth, there are no supernatural advantages. This is a grounded, slice-of-life story centered on family and everyday relationships, with an ensemble cast and a realistic tone.

4. This is a fictional setting. Please do not take the details too literally.
