Bo Jinghuai had endured with patience until now, almost sickened to death by his own forced restraint.
The atmospheric pressure in the entire private room plummeted, as the scent of an Enigma's pheromones silently permeated the air.
A top-tier sense of oppression.
Those Omegas turned pale, their legs going weak.
Lu Mohan immediately waved his hand: "All of you, out!"
Attendants hurried forward to lead the weakened Omegas out.
The door to the private room closed, and instant quiet fell.
Yan Sichen sighed, leaning back: "Jinghuai, are you really that incapable?"
Bo Jinghuai shot him a glance.
That look was arrogant, aloof, and carried a hint of disdain.
"Take it out and it'd scare you to death," he said flatly.
Yan Sichen raised his hands in surrender: "Alright, alright, you're impressive."
Pei Zixian adjusted his glasses and spoke: "Jinghuai, when we brothers send people your way, it's not purely for your amusement."
"Your rut cycles are getting harder to endure. If you don't find an Omega to ease them, what will you do if something happens?"
Bo Jinghuai picked up the wine glass on the table and took a sip.
"You think I want to endure this?"
"Not a single Omega in the genetic database has a compatibility rating over 60% with me."
"Those just now, forget 60%, they didn't even reach 50%."
The corner of his mouth twitched: "Sleep with them? Who knows if I'd be sleeping with them, or if they'd just be getting a free ride with this body of mine."
Yan Sichen snorted with laughter.
Lu Mohan also shook his head: "Your pickiness is truly unmatched."
Bo Jinghuai didn't respond. He leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes.
The room fell silent for a few seconds.
Pei Zixian spoke again: "Your family's old master is pressing hard. If it really comes to it, maybe try finding an Alpha with high compatibility?"
Bo Jinghuai opened his eyes.
"An Alpha?" His voice held a note of mockery. "They smell even worse."
Yan Sichen was amused: "Then what's the plan? Are you just going to tough it out like this, old man?"
"If your rut explodes one day, pheromone dysregulation syndrome is no joke."
Bo Jinghuai didn't speak, his fingers lightly tapping the armrest of the sofa.
Lu Mohan poured another glass of wine and pushed it toward Bo Jinghuai.
"Jinghuai," he began, "how about calling Shen Qingyue over to keep you company?"
Bo Jinghuai looked up, silent.
Lu Mohan continued: "She's always liked you."
"The genetic database tested it; her compatibility with you is 59%."
"She's also the only Omega who can get close to you without you immediately telling her to get lost."
Yan Sichen chimed in: "Yeah, you're childhood friends, grew up together. The Shen family has always had intentions of an arranged marriage too."
Bo Jinghuai picked up the glass and took a sip.
"No feeling of attraction," he put the glass down, his voice calm. "Don't want to marry her."
Pei Zixian adjusted his glasses: "A 59% compatibility rate isn't low for top-tier genes like yours. At least it could alleviate your rut symptoms."
Bo Jinghuai leaned back, crossing his long legs.
"Alleviate?" The corner of his mouth lifted. "What's the difference between that and taking medicine?"
"What I want is attraction, is compatibility, not settling."
Lu Mohan sighed: "Your standards are just too high."
Yan Sichen swirled his glass: "If you ask me, you just haven't experienced it, don't know the appeal of an Omega. Once you've tried it—"
Bo Jinghuai shot him a look: "Try what? Try those pheromones that make me nauseous just smelling them?"
Yan Sichen shut up.
The room quieted down again.
Pei Zixian suddenly thought of something and said: "By the way, Jinghuai, those few months before when you were obsessed with racing, your family's old master suppressed your pheromones, disguised you as a Beta, and kicked you out of the house."
He paused, looking at Bo Jinghuai: "Didn't you have a girlfriend then?"
Bo Jinghuai's movements stilled.
Lu Mohan and Yan Sichen both looked over.
Pei Zixian continued: "I heard she was the one who dumped you?"
Bo Jinghuai set down his glass. The base hit the coffee table with a crisp sound.
He looked at Pei Zixian, his gaze as if looking at an idiot.
"What do you mean 'she dumped me'?" Bo Jinghuai's voice turned cold.
"She was just a gold-digging social climber, and a Beta at that."
He sneered: "Normally, I wouldn't even glance her way."
Yan Sichen became interested: "Then how did you end up with her?"
Bo Jinghuai frowned, seeming reluctant to recall.
"At that time, my pheromones were suppressed, my identity hidden. The old man wanted me to suffer a bit."
"That woman was part of a school bullying clique, leading the charge in bullying commoners, including me back then. She was utterly arrogant and domineering."
Lu Mohan raised an eyebrow: "So you...?"
Bo Jinghuai said: "Even though I couldn't stand the sight of her, she happened to provoke me, so I just used the situation."
"That clique, the Su family held relatively high status. After that, my life quieted down a lot."
"As for dating? It was really just playing around. I didn't even hold her hand."
Pei Zixian: "Then why did she dump you?"
Bo Jinghuai's eyes grew colder. "The Su family connected with some powerful figure in the capital, wanted an arranged marriage. She couldn't wait to come clean things up with me."
Yan Sichen laughed: "So you were dumped for being a poor guy?"
Bo Jinghuai looked at him.
That look made Yan Sichen's laughter catch in his throat.
"Not seeking revenge afterward is already me being magnanimous," Bo Jinghuai's voice was calm, yet permeated with a lofty arrogance.
"Can't be bothered to lower myself to the level of ordinary people."
Lu Mohan shook his head: "You really are something."
Bo Jinghuai picked up his glass again.
"A Beta," he took a sip of wine, his tone bland.
"Doesn't even have pheromones."
"Thinking about it now, I was really forced into a corner by the old man back then, stooping to that level."
As soon as Bo Jinghuai's words fell,
the private room door was suddenly shoved open violently.
A slender figure stumbled in.
An attendant followed nervously behind her: "Miss, you can't go in here."
But the girl was already inside.
She straightened up, breathing slightly heavily.
Under the light, her small face was exquisitely beautiful.
Her skin was fair and translucent, her eyes large with slightly upturned corners, her lips a natural tender red. She looked delicate and precious.
