After marrying Qin Yuhe, Song Xinya had come to understand some of his particular preferences.
He was the kind of man who liked seeking thrills.
Take today, for instance. His office on the thirty-eighth floor was spacious and bright, complete with a private lounge and excellent soundproofing. Yet he insisted on doing it against the door of the office on the eighth floor.
Song Xinya stood perfectly still, afraid to move even an inch lest Qin Yuhe mistake it for a signal that she wanted more.
Fortunately, Qin Yuhe knew the office was small and poorly soundproofed, so he didn’t do anything too outrageous.
It had only been a false alarm.
After a while, he finally let her go.
Song Xinya glanced at him and asked, “Isn’t it uncomfortable?”
Qin Yuhe replied, “It’s within the range I can tolerate.”
Who knew what he was after?
He was making himself suffer for no reason.
Qin Yuhe changed the subject and looked around the office. “The decor here is outdated. I’ll have someone renovate it for you.”
“How about pink?” he asked.
“Who decorates an office in pink?” Song Xinya objected.
“Your husband owns the company. I can do whatever I want.”
He then mentioned something else. “I’ll be home late tonight. You don’t have to wait for me. Go to bed if you’re tired.”
“What are you going to do?” Song Xinya asked.
“Attend a private gathering.”
………
Private club. VIP room.
When Qin Yuhe pushed open the door, the man who had been waiting for him stood up at once, his expression eager and ingratiating.
“Mr. Qin.”
The man appeared to be in his forties. He wore a pair of glasses and looked refined and scholarly.
He was the vice chairman of the International Education and Training Association.
Qin Yuhe took the seat in the middle and lazily leaned back against the sofa. His posture was relaxed, but his presence was overwhelming.
“Tomorrow, Yuan Jingcheng will submit his resignation as chairman. Of the four vice chairmen, I’ll support you for the position.”
The man’s face lit up with wild delight. His fingers trembled as he repeatedly adjusted his glasses.
“Mr. Qin, thank you so much for your support.”
Qin Yuhe gave a faint, languid smile. “You’ll only hold the position for six months. After that, you’ll resign voluntarily.”
The man’s ecstatic expression froze.
“Why?”
“I can support you as chairman, and I can support someone else as well. Tell me—why do you think I singled you out?”
The man honestly had no idea.
“Because you’re neither the most capable nor the least capable. If the position were decided purely by ability, you would never win it.”
“But with my support, I can guarantee that you’ll become chairman.”
Qin Yuhe laid everything out in the open and began discussing the conditions.
“First, after Yuan Jingcheng resigns, a position in the International Education and Training Association will become available. You’ll recommend my wife, Song Xinya, and help her become a member of the association.”
“Second, after six months, you’ll resign voluntarily. I want my wife to become chairman of the International Education and Training Association.”
The man stared at him in shock, finally understanding everything.
So he was merely a stepping stone on Qin Yuhe’s carefully paved road for his wife.
It was a perfectly open scheme.
Qin Yuhe had hidden nothing from him. He had told him everything and left the decision entirely in his hands.
Compared with having no chance of becoming chairman at all, serving as chairman for six months was obviously the more worthwhile option.
The Qin standing before him might have been young, but he had clearly mastered the art of manipulating human nature.
The man replied, “Mr. Qin, I’m willing to do as you say.”
Qin Yuhe remained expressionless as he stood and headed for the door.
The man still wanted to exchange a few more words and curry favor with him. He hurriedly said, “Mr. Qin, I know you don’t drink, so I specially ordered several pots of fine tea for you. They haven’t even been served yet. Why are you leaving without having any?”
Qin Yuhe answered, “I’m worried my wife will kick off her blankets while she’s sleeping. I need to go home and tuck her in.”
The man was rendered speechless.
He had lived for nearly fifty years, and this was the first time he had ever heard such a reason.
He had countless friends and even more business partners. Every one of them was a successful person. Some cheated on their wives, some kept mistresses, and some frequented prostitutes. But Qin Yuhe was the first man he had ever met who was out socializing and still remembered to go home and tuck his wife in.
………
The company office was renovated very quickly, using only high-end, environmentally friendly materials.
There was no pungent smell, and no harmful substances such as formaldehyde would be released.
The overall design was simple and elegant, but pink accents had been added to the details—the corner of the desk, the back of the sofa, the handles on the filing cabinets, and other places.
The personnel department soon issued its appointment notice, and Song Xinya was promoted to general manager of the company.
She was sitting in her brand-new, brightly lit office, immersed in her happiness, when a phone call came in.
“May I speak with Miss Song Xinya?”
“Yes.”
“I’m the chairman of the International Education and Training Association. I’m calling to sincerely invite you to join our association and become one of its members.”
The surprise came so suddenly that Song Xinya felt as though she had been struck dumb.
“Really?”
“Of course. A position has become available in our association, and we’re currently selecting an outstanding candidate to fill it. As the general manager of Qin Corporation’s education and training company, you have both the ability and reputation to be the most qualified person.”
For an ordinary person, reaching the position of company general manager and becoming a member of the International Education and Training Association would require at least twenty years of effort.
With Qin Yuhe lifting her up, Song Xinya had achieved both in a single day.
