When Song Xinya got off work, she saw the arrogant Yuan Jingcheng kneeling in front of a group of men he had fired.
Chen Siyan had just returned from meeting a client. Seeing the scene, he exclaimed in surprise, “Wow. I’ve lived long enough to see everything. Look at Mr. Yuan, kneeling so properly. What’s going on? Is he proposing to a man?”
Song Xinya guessed, “The other party must have something on him.”
Chen Siyan said, “What kind of dirt could be that powerful? It actually made our swaggering Mr. Yuan kneel.”
“I’ve suffered at this guy’s hands for ages. I want to know what he’s got on him too. If I could make this bastard kneel for me, I wouldn’t let him kneel for free. I’d pay him ten cents.”
Song Xinya said, “I don’t know what evidence they have either.”
People came and went around them, unable to resist discussing the sight of Yuan Jingcheng on both knees.
“When Mr. Yuan fired these people back then, he was ruthless. He cut them down one by one without the slightest mercy. How did he end up kneeling to them now?”
“He must have done too many bad things and finally been punished by heaven.”
“Aww, look at him kneeling there. He looks so pitiful.”
“You wouldn’t think he was pitiful if he fired you and framed you.”
Yuan Jingcheng cared deeply about his reputation. Yet even with countless eyes watching him, he still didn’t dare get up. At that moment, he couldn’t afford to care about his dignity—the evidence in their hands was enough to send him to prison for twenty years.
The group had given him three conditions.
First, he had to kneel in public.
Second, he had to resign from Qin Corporation.
Third, he had to step down as chairman of the International Education and Training Association.
The first condition was meant to humiliate him. The second and third were meant to destroy his career.
They had already been fired and left without jobs, so naturally, they had to make sure this man lost his job too.
Come on, then. Let’s hurt each other.
The boomerang Yuan Jingcheng had personally thrown had now struck him squarely between the eyebrows.
Early the next morning, Yuan Jingcheng submitted his resignation to Qin Yuhe.
Qin Yuhe’s handsome face remained calm and composed, as though he hadn’t expected it and had only just heard the news. He asked, “Everything was going well. Why are you resigning?”
Yuan Jingcheng wasn’t stupid. Of course, he couldn’t say, “Someone has evidence of my illegal activities. If I don’t resign, I’ll be going to prison.”
Instead, he said, “My father is seriously ill and doesn’t have much time left. I’m going home to take care of him.”
President Qin said, “Mr. Yuan, you really are… a very ‘filial’ son.”
“Taking care of one’s parents is important. I can’t keep you from reuniting with your family.” Qin Yuhe waved his hand grandly and immediately signed the resignation letter.
“I’ll have Human Resources put you through the fast-track process. We’ll complete your departure procedures right away.”
Yuan Jingcheng returned to his office to pack up. Before he had even finished clearing off his desk, his resignation process was already complete.
“That was incredibly fast!”
President Qin said, “I can’t delay you from going home to show filial devotion to your father.”
Yuan Jingcheng looked at Qin Yuhe, who had suddenly appeared at the office door, and asked, “President Qin, aren’t you busy? What brings you here?”
Qin Yuhe’s gaze lingered on Song Xinya as he replied, “I couldn’t bear to see you go, so I came to send you off.”
Yuan Jingcheng was deeply moved.
President Qin truly treated him well.
Unlike those people he had fired, who did nothing but force him into a corner.
Qin Yuhe asked, “How much longer will it take you to finish packing?”
Yuan Jingcheng replied, “At least an hour.”
Qin Yuhe said, “I’ll call eight people over to help you. You’ll be packed up in ten minutes.”
“What?”
“I can’t stand to see you work so hard.”
Yuan Jingcheng was so touched that he couldn’t speak. President Qin was truly a wonderful man.
The eight helpers arrived quickly. Ten minutes later, Yuan Jingcheng was being escorted out of the company, boxes and all.
When he reached the entrance, he looked back at Qin Yuhe with extraordinary reluctance—an overwhelming, profound, utterly unbearable reluctance.
Goodbye, the best boss in the world—President Qin!
Qin Yuhe waved at him with effortless elegance. “Hurry up and go home to take care of your father. If you ever run into any difficulties, just come to me…”
I definitely won’t help you.
Yuan Jingcheng was moved to tears. He was a grown man, yet his eyes had gone misty.
The moment his figure disappeared from sight, the gentle warmth on Qin Yuhe’s face turned as cold as ice.
But when Qin Yuhe walked over to Song Xinya, his expression became gentle and pleasant once more.
“Are you busy, my wife?”
Song Xinya ran her fingers through her hair and glanced around. “We’re still in the office.”
The employees in the lobby immediately focused on their work, staring at their noses and noses at their hearts. All at once, they began pounding away at their keyboards as though they were working with exceptional dedication.
Qin Yuhe didn’t care in the slightest what the employees thought. “So what if we’re in the office? Did I call you the wrong thing? Haven’t we gotten our marriage certificate?”
“Fine.” Song Xinya raised both hands in surrender. “Fine, fine, fine. Call me whatever you want.”
Qin Yuhe pointed toward the general manager’s office. “Come with me.”
Song Xinya asked, “What are we going in there for?”
“To talk to you about something.”
“Let’s talk here in the lobby.”
“There are too many people here. Some things aren’t suitable for others to hear.”
The clacking of keyboards throughout the lobby abruptly stopped. Then, a moment later, it resumed even louder than before.
Although everyone was dying of curiosity, no one dared look over. They simply kept their heads down and hammered away at their keyboards as if their lives depended on it. The keyboards were practically about to catch fire.
Song Xinya stood up and followed Qin Yuhe toward the office.
She was worried that if she didn’t get up soon, sparks would start flying out of her coworkers’ keyboards and set the whole place on fire.
Song Xinya and Qin Yuhe entered the office. The instant the door closed, the keyboard clatter in the lobby came to a complete stop.
The employees sprang to their feet and craned their necks toward the office.
“What did the boss take the boss’s wife into the office for?”
“No idea. Surely they aren’t going to do that kind of thing?”
“What kind of thing?”
“The kind of thing you and your wife do under the covers every night.”
“Oh, that? My wife and I hide under the blankets every night and look at our glow-in-the-dark watch.”
“Brother, listen to yourself. As if everyone doesn’t do the same. Every night, I pin my wife to the bed, draw the curtains, turn off the lights, pull up the covers, and then tell her, ‘Look, my watch glows in the dark.’”
Everyone burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, inside the office, Song Xinya was pressed against the door by Qin Yuhe.
The office wasn’t very well soundproofed.
Hearing the laughter outside, Song Xinya’s face flushed crimson out of guilty embarrassment.
She pouted at him. “Listen to them. They’re all laughing at us.”
“What are they laughing at?” Qin Yuhe asked. “Are you funny-looking, or am I?”
“They’re laughing at what we’re doing.”
“What are we doing? We’re both fully dressed.”
Song Xinya glanced downward. Her eyes seemed to burn at what she saw. She bit down on her red lips with her pearly white teeth.
“Qin Yuhe, pull up your zipper.”
“I’m only rubbing against you. I’m not going to do anything…”
