For the next two days, Song Xinya accompanied Qin Yuhe to the hospital for his hand therapy every day.
Whenever Sheng Changpu saw her, he behaved impeccably.
His plan to stage a shooting and have Song Xinya killed in the United States had been abandoned completely.
At present, Sheng Changpu had only one wish: to treat Qin Yuhe’s hand properly, get him recovered as soon as possible, and exchange him for his son.
Only if Qin Yuhe was well could he be well. Only if Qin Yuhe’s son was safe could his own entire family be safe.
After Qin Yuhe’s treatment ended, the two of them walked out of the hospital together.
Unexpectedly, Song Xinya received an overseas call from Chen Siyan.
“Teacher Song,” Chen Siyan said. “Am I interrupting you and President Qin’s private time?”
Song Xinya was about to say no when Qin Yuhe bent down and brought his lips close to the phone.
“You are. I’m in a terrible mood right now.”
Chen Siyan was so frightened that sweat nearly sprayed out of his urethra.
“Q-President Qin, Qin Qin Qin Qin Qin Qin Qin Qin…”
“Do you believe me, or do you believe Qin Shi Huang?” Qin Yuhe asked.
“I believe you! I choose you, President Qin.”
“You even get to choose? Have I fallen so low that you get to pick and choose?”
“N-No, that’s not what I meant. I’m not choosing you.”
“So you mean I’m not even qualified to be chosen by you?”
“I choose you! I choose you, President Qin!”
“You even get to choose? Have I fallen so low that you get to pick and choose?”
Oh no—he was back where he started!
Chen Siyan trembled in terror. The sweat really was about to spray out of his urethra.
Which deity happened to be free right now? He was on his knees begging for help. He was willing to burn however much paper money it took!
Song Xinya placed her palm beneath Qin Yuhe’s chin and pushed his head up.
“All right. Stop scaring him.”
Qin Yuhe stood to one side and stopped teasing Chen Siyan.
The seven souls and six spirits that had been scared out of Chen Siyan flew back into place.
“Manager Chen, what did you call me about?” Song Xinya asked.
“Teacher Song, I really don’t want to be this 250-watt lightbulb, but I can’t help it. As your boss and your friend, I have to give you a gentle reminder: the International Education and Training Association has issued its notice. The selection for Gold Medal Lecturer will take place in one week.”
Time was truly tight.
Although he and Song Xinya were competitors, he wasn’t the sort of petty person who wished for his rivals to run into trouble or die. He preferred fair competition and winning openly and honorably.
Of course, he had considered every possibility—including the possibility that he might not win and might lose.
Whatever the final result, he only wanted to focus on doing his best now.
He reminded her in a friendly tone, “Song Xinya, remember to come back before the Gold Medal Lecturer selection. Don’t be late.”
Song Xinya thanked Chen Siyan before hanging up.
Then she heard Qin Yuhe’s chilly voice beside her.
“What a sincere friendship between a man and a woman. How touching.”
“...What are you being sarcastic about?” Song Xinya asked.
“I’m genuinely happy to see my wife getting along so well with another man.”
There was no sign of happiness on his face. Song Xinya could only smell the vinegar of Shanxi’s finest aged brew.
“Chen Siyan is my boss. He was talking to me about work, not anything personal.”
“And let me tell you this: Chen Siyan likes my best friend Tiantianquan. He isn’t interested in me, so stop trying to play matchmaker.”
She had made it that clear, so Qin Yuhe couldn’t say anything else. If he continued, he would look terribly petty.
He considered himself a very broad-minded man.
The two continued walking forward. Song Xinya asked, “Where are we going?”
“To the luxury boutiques. I’m buying you Hermès, Dior, Chanel, and Prada.”
Whenever he was in a bad mood, he wanted to spend money on his wife.
And whenever his wife made him angry, he wanted to spend even more money on her.
Qin Yuhe was extremely busy with work, but every day he still made time to take Song Xinya sightseeing around New York—to admire the views, enjoy delicious food, and shop at luxury boutiques.
When Song Xinya arrived, her suitcase had been completely empty. By the time she left, it was stuffed full of Hermès, Dior, Chanel, and Prada.
There were too many clothes, shoes, and handbags to fit into a single suitcase, so Qin Yuhe had them shipped back home for her.
Song Xinya’s vacation lasted seven days. Once she returned, she would have to throw herself into the busy preparations for the Gold Medal Lecturer promotion.
On their last night together, the thought of not seeing each other for an entire month filled them both with unspoken longing. Without saying a word, they washed up early.
Qin Yuhe showered quickly and lay down on the bed first.
When Song Xinya came out of the bathroom, she was wearing his white shirt.
The oversized shirt draped over her slender figure, making her look petite and delicate. Its hem fell to the tops of her thighs, revealing two long, fair legs as smooth and pale as jade.
She walked over to the bed, intending to take the towel from the nightstand, but Qin Yuhe caught her by the wrist.
With a forceful tug, he pulled her onto the bed.
She fell into his arms and ended up sitting on his thigh.
In an instant, his distinctive scent swept over her, enveloping her body—dangerous and intensely possessive.
As a married woman, Song Xinya knew perfectly well what was about to happen.
She nestled softly against him, alluring and flirtatious, like a docile Persian cat that knew exactly how to captivate a man’s heart.
Qin Yuhe’s hand covered her fair thigh, moving slowly up and down.
“Why are you wearing my white shirt?”
Lying in his arms, Song Xinya’s eyes shimmered with emotion as she smiled seductively.
“Does it look good?”
Qin Yuhe’s gaze traveled over her body again and again, his eyes like a wolf’s.
“It looks good.”
Song Xinya’s soft fingers slid up to his Adam’s apple. Her pointed nails pressed and teased it inch by inch.
“Honey, I’m not wearing anything underneath this white shirt...”
