Xi Qingyue calmly watched the hidden weapons flying toward them. The Zheng and Lu family members seated on either side of her, however, were frozen in terror—they were also within the attack’s range.
The assault had come too suddenly. Zheng Xinran, Sixth Lu, and the others knew no martial arts and had no time to dodge. Their guards immediately moved in front of them.
“Bang, bang, bang…”
“Pfft…”
The sounds of the hidden weapons hitting the ground, blades piercing flesh, and people crying out rang out almost simultaneously.
A pile of hidden weapons landed in front of Xi Qingyue’s table. The Zheng family’s table was in much the same condition, but the Lu family was not so fortunate.
The Lu family’s guards had been struck by the hidden weapons and collapsed to the ground. At the critical moment, the young boy pulled Sixth Lu beneath the table, allowing him to narrowly evade the attack. The other two boys, however, had been struck in the shoulders. They now lay on the floor, their faces twisted in pain.
Before they could relax, several people dressed in opera costumes leaped down from the stage. Their target was clearly Xi Qingyue, though some also flew toward members of the Zheng and Lu families who were nearby.
Xi Qingyue handed a light machine gun to both Xi Weilan and Lu Jinshuang. She herself held a Desert Eagle in each hand, while Mu Jin and Nan Yun, who had rushed over, drew their swords and prepared to engage the enemy.
“Bang, bang, bang…”
A storm of gunfire erupted at once.
The moment Xi Weilan got her hands on the gun, she leaped onto the table, aimed at the assassins, and began sweeping the area with gunfire. She shouted furiously, “You bad guys! I’m sending you all to hell!”
Clutching the gun, she fired wildly at everything in front of her. Sixth Lu, hiding beneath the table, was so frightened that his face turned deathly pale and his whole body began to tremble. He covered his head with both hands, huddling as tightly as he could. He did not dare move, much less peek out.
Even Zheng Xinran was staring in stunned disbelief. Was this really the same sweet and adorable Young Commandery Princess from moments ago?
The next instant, her younger sister pulled her beneath the table as well. The siblings and Sixth Lu’s brothers exchanged wide-eyed looks beneath the table, their eyes filled with shock, relief, fear, and regret.
Before Lu Jinshuang and Xi Qingyue could even fire, more than half of the assassins were already dead. It had all happened in the blink of an eye.
The two women glanced at Xi Weilan. Seeing how enthusiastically she was killing, they did not try to compete with her. Xi Qingyue merely reminded her, “Weilan, leave a few alive.”
Only then did Xi Weilan stop.
Mu Jin sighed inwardly from the side. “At last, I get a chance to show what I can do.”
The leader of the assassins had superior lightness skills and managed to evade the bullets Xi Weilan fired at him. But when he saw half of his companions fall, the shock in his heart quickly turned to fury, which blazed like a raging fire. He glared at Xi Weilan as if she were a beast he wanted to devour.
Xi Weilan pointed her gun at him and said fiercely, “Try glaring at me again!”
She did not fire. Instead, she simply kept her gun trained on him, as though she had taken a special interest in him.
Her arrogant attitude nearly made the assassin spit blood from rage. He signaled for his subordinates to stop advancing and focus on saving their own lives. He truly had not expected the assassination to turn out this way.
The hidden weapons of Guangling Pavilion were already formidable enough, yet someone here possessed weapons even more powerful than theirs. If not for their lightness skills, they would all have become corpses lying on the floor by now.
He glanced around the theater. Those who had been nearby had either been struck by hidden weapons and fallen or were hiding beneath tables. Farther away, a large number of civilians had fled. The scene remained chaotic, but the assassins had already lost the initiative.
With one hand behind his back, he gave his subordinates another signal. He planned to draw Xi Qingyue and the others’ attention by speaking, while his men each found a human shield. As long as they could get close, he was confident they could capture the two children.
He gave a cold laugh. “Hmph. As the dignified Young Commandery Princess, you actually don’t care about the lives of the common people. You are the ones we came to kill. If you surrender without resistance, we won’t harm the innocent. Otherwise, any deaths among these people will be your responsibility.”
Xi Qingyue glanced at the movements of the other assassins and gave a mocking smile. “And who do you think you are to demand that we surrender? You’re the ones killing these people. What does that have to do with us? You’ve been operating in this theater for more than a day or two. Even if we hadn’t come, you would still have harmed people—you simply wouldn’t have done it so openly. There can’t be few people who have died at your hands. Don’t even think about shifting the blame onto us.”
With that, she raised her gun and fired several shots in succession. The assassins who had been preparing to chop apart the tables and use the people hiding beneath them as human shields were killed on the spot.
Lu Jinshuang also fired toward several assassins in another direction. In the blink of an eye, more than half of the remaining attackers had fallen, leaving only nine.
“You’ve gone too far!” The leader could no longer contain himself.
Relying on his superior lightness skills, he darted left and right as he flew forward. His target was Xi Weilan, the youngest of them.
Xi Qingyue and Lu Jinshuang saw him but did not intervene. They merely shot the other assassins, knocking them to the ground without killing them. Nan Yun and the others hurried forward to restrain them.
Nan Yun muttered inwardly, “At least I’ve finally managed to help.”
After following the two Young Commandery Princesses these past few days, she had begun to wonder whether she had become completely useless.
Just as the assassin leader was about to reach Xi Weilan, she suddenly leaped into the air and pulled the trigger.
Her small body rose to the same height as the assassin. She pursued him while firing wildly, and the situation instantly reversed. Realizing something was wrong, the assassin turned and fled, but the two of them flew through the theater using their lightness skills.
The assassin’s lightness skills were excellent, but that was precisely what made his situation even more miserable. Xi Weilan chased him relentlessly, firing the entire time. One moment she hit him in the arm, the next in the leg, and then in the back.
As she shot, she shouted, “Why are you running? You came looking for me yourself!”
The assassin endured his injuries as he flew, blood spilling from his mouth. How could he have known that a three-year-old child would possess such excellent lightness skills? He had thought she would be the easiest target.
After flying around for a while, he could no longer hold on. With a loud thud, he dropped from the air. His body had been riddled with bullets, and he lay on the ground as blood spread across the floor.
Beneath the table, Sixth Lu clamped both hands over his mouth, terrified that if he made a sound, he would be shot dead on the spot.
He swore that he would never underestimate anyone again. Their entire Lu family could not afford to offend a Young Commandery Princess like this. She could wipe them out without even breaking a sweat.
Xi Weilan flew over and stood on the assassin’s body. Pointing her gun at his head, she asked, “Who sent you to kill us? If you don’t tell me, I’ll blow your head apart.”
The critically wounded assassin glared at her with hatred. He loathed this little radish to the very depths of his soul.
He was none other than the Master of Guangling Pavilion’s Hidden Hall, yet he had been beaten half to death by a three-year-old child. If word of this got out, he would lose all face.
He clenched his teeth and refused to answer. Even if he had to die, he would die with some dignity.
When Xi Weilan saw that he was keeping silent, she smacked the side of his head with her gun. To her surprise, the assassin’s head lolled to the side, and he fell asleep.
She looked puzzled. “Huh? How did he fall asleep just because I tapped him?”
Mu Jin happened to arrive at that moment. She crouched down and checked the assassin’s breathing, then her expression turned rather peculiar.
“Mu Jin, I only tapped him once. How did he fall asleep?”
Hearing the confusion in Xi Weilan’s voice, Mu Jin rose and explained with a smile, “Commandery Princess, he’s already dead. He had at least a dozen gunshot wounds. He was merely forcing himself to hang on just now.”
Xi Weilan murmured upon hearing this, “I thought his martial arts were so formidable that he wasn’t afraid of bullets. I didn’t expect him to be so easily taken down.”
