Fujiwara’s mood was completely shattered.
He had deeply experienced the feeling of being constantly squeezed for money lately—he gave the cash, only to realize his mouth was already bleeding from biting down so hard.
His anger was raging, and his frustration was overwhelming!
Unfortunately, he was just a non-storyline NPC. No matter how much he hated it, he couldn’t get even a sliver of Suning’s attention, especially during this reward explosion period.
“Ding, detected host as ruthless rich, first-tier storyline character Wu…”
Suning seemed not to hear it.
She was busy directing her subordinates, continuing to pack. After all, it was a trip abroad, and she had been away for so long—she had to bring back some souvenirs, right?
Of course, the three members of the Su family were specially bought for.
As for the others?
It was just casual shopping, picking up whatever came to mind for whoever she thought of.
Whether they got something or not was a mystery.
Some of the items were expensive, some cheap, naturally making packing troublesome. But with so many subordinates around, Suning didn’t need to lift a finger—she just sat there, with snacks, tea, and refreshments laid out before her.
Someone stepped forward holding a handcrafted wool carpet with a strong exotic flavor.
“Miss, who is this for?”
There were so many things; the souvenirs were sent directly to the recipients in one go.
So Suning needed to assign them.
“For Mayor Chen. He’s always in the office, so this’ll spruce up the place a bit.”
The person hesitated.
Putting a carpet in the city government office felt a bit out of place, didn’t it?
Suning didn’t pay much attention because—
“Ding, detected host as ruthless rich, first-tier storyline character…”
So noisy, it was giving her a headache.
She had no mood to continue assigning souvenirs, so she waved her hand casually, letting her subordinates handle it. “System, can you turn off this notification sound?”
“Sorry, can’t do that.”
The system coldly refused, bubbling with glee, sounding absolutely delighted, and said with a fake sweetness:
“According to regulations, first-tier storyline characters must be announced. This system has no choice. Who told you, the host, you’re too outstanding? Several first-tier storyline characters keep appearing one after another. I’ve never encountered this before. Oh, I can help you report this to the higher-ups. Maybe they’ll come up with relevant rules.”
Suning rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, to benefit whoever takes over after me, right?”
She already knew how long that “research” would take—by then, it’d be too late.
The system stayed silent.
It just broadcast another reward message, followed by a critical hit effect. Hmm, this time luck was pretty good—five times the reward. Suning didn’t pay much attention.
For her now?
Money was really just a number. No matter how much she had, she couldn’t spend it all.
“Wait, how much balance do I have now?”
Suning asked out of the blue.
“Let me check. After what’s been spent, you still have 3.1 billion…” The system’s voice suddenly grew louder:
“How is there this much? I clearly remember it was only one billion not long ago. Where did all this money come from? Is someone messing with us…? But there’s no problem detected. This is really abnormal.”
The system immediately became suspicious.
It was about to continue investigating.
“Stop the search.”
Su Ning said calmly, "You won’t find any problems, or rather, there never really was any problem to begin with. I was just very ‘lucky.’”
Even messing with the Japanese could somehow send shockwaves to Wu Yi and the others.
On top of that, with bonus critical hits and everyone who’s not part of the main storyline contributing a bit of hatred,
the numbers snowballed into this enormous figure.
“Seriously, it’s so frustrating.”
The system nodded with tears in its eyes. Yeah, ten billion was just the beginning. Could it really accumulate to a hundred billion? What would happen if two spending tasks overlapped?
Panic!
It had never dealt with a situation like this before.
Damn it, it was terrified.
“Damn it, using my destiny as the chosen one’s lucky trait to make me lower my guard— I was careless after all.”
“I should’ve listened and taken out Wu Yi earlier. Then there wouldn’t have been so many rewards.”
One person, one system said in unison.
The air fell silent for a second.
They both looked at each other with mutual disdain.
“We can’t let the rewards keep skyrocketing,” the system voiced its concern and suggested, “How about the host switches to being a good person, slows things down a bit? I don’t mind.”
“No.”
Su Ning refused firmly. “Don’t you know that going dark is ten times stronger, but going whitewashed only weakens you by a third?”
System: ……
“Alright, just kidding. If I’m right, we won’t hit a hundred billion before taking down Huo Xiang. Don’t forget, Huo Xiang can stack the prize pool. We’re fighting over main storyline characters here. Backing down would be like aiding the enemy—in other words—”
“He’s the final boss.”
The system wanted to say something else,
but then it saw the eager gleam on Su Ning’s face, impossible to hide—a sudden pause, and finally it reluctantly said,
“Final boss? I’m a ruthless system for the rich, not the Sword of the Hero.”
“In my heart, you are.”
Su Ning deployed her sweet-talking skill; the system was no match and its health bar drained to zero.
After a while,
Lin Sen came over to report, “Miss, the luggage is almost packed. When would you like to depart?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Uh... there are no flights to the mainland tomorrow. The earliest is two days from now.”
“Not going back yet.”
Su Ning smiled softly, her mood bright. “We’re heading to Nanyang. Su Er is handling our operations in Europe and America, so you take care of Asia. I have quite a few businesses in Nanyang that I haven’t sorted through properly. This trip’s a good chance to check them out.”
Hearing this,
Lin Sen visibly relaxed.
“I won’t let you down.”
“Hmm,” Su Ning suddenly said, “Can you find someone who can fly a plane before tomorrow?”
“?”
Lin Sen was stunned.
…………
“There are so many fun places left in Portugal. Can’t you stay a few more days?”
Madam Anna frowned.
“No need.”
Su Ning tugged the brim of her hat to shield her eyes from the sun. Though it wasn’t quite summer yet, Lisbon was already bathed in bright sunlight, the warm glow lending a lazy tone to her voice.
“Alright then.”
Though she knew this trip meant Su Ning might be gone for a long time, Madam Anna maintained her aristocratic composure, showing little emotion,
especially in front of others—
“What a pity, Su. I thought at least there’d be a farewell dinner. I even prepared a parting gift.”
The officer, not in uniform, smiled brightly.
Her tone was tinged with regret.
Finally, she caught Su Ning’s eye. Without any fanfare, and with no idea how he had gotten the news, she suddenly reached out her hand:
“Give it to me.”
The officer was momentarily stunned but reacted quickly.
He actually pulled out a box from his pocket. By Su Ning’s standards, the contents were still quite nice—a pair of intricately designed South European-style gold and silver brooches.
“Not bad.”
“Of course,” he said, clutching his chest with a mock pained expression. “These cost me a fortune.” He wanted to say more, but just then someone approached.
“Please board now, Su,” the voice called out. Not wanting to waste any time, she nodded to them and walked away.
Those left behind watched her retreating figure.
“I really wish Su could stay here a little longer,” the translator said wistfully, reluctantly withdrawing his gaze. Such a generous boss—why did she have to leave?
It was clear he was speaking to the officer, who seemed to share the same sentiment.
“Lisbon is beautiful. Su will definitely come back.”
The officer replied.
“Exactly. I need to keep honing my translation skills—I can’t let anyone outdo me,” the translator said, his spirit reignited with ambition. “And keep making big money.”
He pulled himself out of his slump, then casually asked, “But you really went all out. Next time Su comes, she’ll definitely remember you, and you’ll make more money. It’s just that the timing was off earlier and you got cut off. If you’d said a few more words, Su’s impression of you would’ve been much stronger.”
“You’re wrong.”
The officer raised an eyebrow. “That’s not what I was going to say.”
“Then what was it?”
“A secret.”
It was pretty much the same thing—he just wanted to tell her his name.
That way, the benefactor would remember him better.
“If you don’t want to say, then fine,” the translator pouted and quickly changed the subject. “Hey, why is Su in such a hurry? With so many people and so much luggage, there’s no way she could make a private flight on time. Splitting up like that is really dangerous.”
He was the innocent translator, after all.
In the past couple of days, he’d already encountered several ambushes on his way home. Luckily, he was quick on his feet.
Otherwise, he would’ve been beaten up.
And that was just him—what about Su Ning?
“Don’t you know?” the officer asked.
The translator shook his head, confused. “Know what?”
The local big shot officer said matter-of-factly, “Su’s people don’t need to split up, and they don’t need a chartered plane. She’s flying on her own private jet.”
The translator: …
A private plane? She definitely didn’t have one before—so it must have appeared in the last couple of days.
How could someone be this rich?
Damn it.
Maybe he should’ve prepared a farewell gift too!
………
Meanwhile,
Assistant Lin was reliable, and the pilot he found was skilled. There was no turbulence, and Su Ning arrived in Nanyang quite comfortably.
