"What do you like to eat? I can’t just feed you beef jerky every day."
Little Seven pointed at the eggshell, making a series of excited noises. "Aow aow aow wuwu."
Qi Xu instantly understood. "Eggshells?"
If it liked eating eggshells, there must be some energy left on them. So...
He simply pulled out an energy stone. Little Seven immediately abandoned the eggshell and started gnawing on the stone with gusto.
The energy stone was about the size of a fist, and after chewing for a long time, Little Seven had only managed to nibble off a tiny edge.
Qi Xu let out a sigh of relief. Good, good—at least it didn’t eat much. No way he’d let the little one go hungry.
He placed Little Seven on the sofa, letting it gnaw on the energy stone like a chew toy.
The heavy rain from the morning had stopped, but the air still carried a lingering coolness.
Now, though, it was starting to feel stifling. Qi Xu, wearing a temperature-regulating suit, didn’t notice it as much, but many players were already sweating buckets while driving...
Especially as noon approached, the sun grew harsher.
Qi Xu crafted two air conditioners on the workbench and installed one in the cab and another in the truck bed. The moment he turned them on, the temperature around him dropped noticeably.
He decided to save the ice-element blue crystals for when the heat became unbearable. Right now, the air conditioners were more than enough—he didn’t even need to set them to 16 degrees.
A quick glance at the trading hall confirmed it: air conditioner sales were skyrocketing.
Normally, vehicles in survival games didn’t come with luxury appliances. Things like washing machines, refrigerators, sound systems, or air conditioners—common in regular vehicles—were absent here.
Qi Xu opened the newly acquired diamond supply crate.
"USB drive ×1, projector ×1, smartphone ×1, computer ×1, sound system ×1, mouse ×1, keyboard ×1."
Qi Xu: ???
"Qiuqiu, are you there? I’m genuinely curious why a diamond supply crate only gave me this stuff..."
Qiuqiu replied calmly, "In Survival Highway, anything is possible. And... isn’t this great? You’ve got the basics covered, so now it’s time to pursue higher-tier comforts.
Don’t underestimate these items—they’re all part of the ‘never runs out of power’ series. Plus, you’ve got a universal Wi-Fi adapter. Very versatile."
Qi Xu fell silent, taking a long moment to process that a diamond crate had yielded such mundane items. Finally, he sighed deeply.
His luck had been too good this round, making him forget how unreliable the survival game could be.
Some people got workbenches from wooden crates, while others unboxed compressed biscuits from obsidian crates.
Totally normal...
Resigned, Qi Xu installed everything.
First, he went online and searched for "survival game."
All news seemed frozen from a month ago. While other resources were accessible, anything related to the survival game was blank—no information at all.
He posted on PinkBook:
"Anyone there?"
The "views" counter stayed at zero. Qi Xu finally gave up.
Just then, the automatic collection arm finished installing, and another bronze supply crate appeared ahead.
Qi Xu had set the vehicle to automatically slow down and pull over for crates, so no manual input was needed. The truck edged closer to the crate.
He leaned out the window to watch as a large claw—similar to a arcade crane—extended from the junction between the cab and the truck bed.
The claw locked onto the crate’s position, and a small hatch opened on the second level of the truck bed. The arm deposited the crate neatly inside.
Qi Xu was pleased. Though rain or snow might cause minor issues, he could easily designate a dedicated area on the second level just for supply crates.
Stretching out on the sofa, feet propped on the table, Qi Xu booted up the computer and projector, then queued up a record-breaking domestic animated film—one he’d watched multiple times in theaters.
The opening music kicked in, and instantly, he was transported. How many years had it been since he’d felt this relaxed?
For a moment, it was as if the survival game had ended, and he was back in his cozy little home. Fatigue plummeted, and his mood soared.
At noon, Master Chef sent over a garlic shrimp paste vermicelli beef pot—just the name alone made his mouth water.
Qi Xu also requested boiled eggs, greens, and a bone broth for Little Seven. The little one wasn’t picky—it devoured anything—but as a parent, he couldn’t help wanting to give it the best.
Opening the beef pot, Qi Xu was immediately hit by the aroma. Just the smell alone made him swallow hard.
He drizzled some broth over rice, piled on the beef and shrimp paste, and dug in—one bite of rice, one bite of meat...
With delicious food, an action-packed movie on the projector, and Little Seven munching happily at his feet, Qi Xu felt genuine enjoyment in the survival game for the first time.
He knew this carefree moment was only possible because he wasn’t struggling for supplies—he could comfortably secure top rankings and reap the rewards.
After a leisurely morning, though, Qi Xu grew restless again. Once the meal settled, he took Little Seven outside for a walk and a bathroom break.
Back inside, he pulled up a strength-training muscle-building workout on the computer.
With upbeat music blasting, he jumped and sweated through the entire afternoon. Though his stats didn’t change, his face was flushed, and his shirt soaked.
Still, it felt amazing.
Later, Dongfang Yuan dropped a red envelope in the group chat.
Before Qi Xu could process it, his fingers had already tapped it—scoring five ice-element blue crystals.
Old White Dragon in the Waves: "Cut You Down, did you finally get lucky? Since when do you hand out red envelopes?"
Chinese Master Chef: "I got two weapon cards... You should keep these for upgrades. Why give them away?"
Golden Bell Armor Iron Shirt: "He’s right. The monsters are getting stronger."
Watch Me Cut You Down: "No need to worry, everyone. I hereby declare: I’ve officially escaped poverty and achieved moderate prosperity!"
Invincible Black Whirlwind: "Did you off Low-Key Living? His stash must’ve been fat."
Dongfang Yuan’s grin was unstoppable. Qi Xu really got him—they’d clicked so fast, it was like they shared a brain.
