Fu Xiaochen: “What’s wrong? Have you suddenly forgotten how to read Chinese? I said, my wife and I do it two or three times a week, and she got pregnant within a month.”
Qin Yuhe immediately realized why he and his wife hadn’t managed to conceive.
He had made a complete fool of himself!
What a colossal misunderstanding!
Qin Yuhe got up and headed outside.
Fu Xiaochen: “We’ve barely talked. Why are you leaving already? Bro? Little bro? Cousin?”
Qin Yuhe ignored him.
If he admitted that he had misunderstood and crammed an entire week’s worth into a single day, his ugly-ass cousin Fu Xiaochen would laugh him out of the room.
When he got home, Song Xinya asked, “How did your talk with your cousin go?”
Qin Yuhe: “Not great.”
Seeing that he didn’t seem interested in talking, Song Xinya took it to mean that her cousin’s conception method hadn’t worked.
That night, Song Xinya assumed Qin Yuhe would put her through another exhausting session.
But Qin Yuhe didn’t touch her.
Huh? How strange.
(•ิ_•ิ)???
The next night, Qin Yuhe still didn’t touch her.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Song Xinya sat up in bed and straddled him.
“What exactly did you and your cousin talk about that day? Why did you come home acting like a completely different person?”
Qin Yuhe lay flat on his back, looking at his beautiful wife sitting astride his waist. His large hand closed around one side of her waist.
“You haven’t been touched for two days, and you’re already desperate?”
Song Xinya: “I’ve only been sitting on you for one second, and you’re already poking me. Which one of us is desperate?”
Qin Yuhe smiled. His nimble fingers traced the curve of her waist and began creeping upward.
“That day, my cousin said that doing it two or three times a week would make it easier to get pregnant.”
Song Xinya: “!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“What were all those months of suffering for?!”
“Suffering?” Qin Yuhe’s fingers slipped inside the neckline of her top.
Smack!
Song Xinya slapped his wandering hand away.
“I suffered for a whole month!”
She rolled off him and sprawled out on the bed like a starfish.
Qin Yuhe rolled over and pinned her beneath him, his fingers stroking her face.
“Why call it suffering? You moaned louder than anyone every time.”
Song Xinya glared at him. “I’m not a dog.”
Qin Yuhe: “Of course you’re not. No dog could be as pretty as you.”
Song Xinya snapped, “Obviously! Humans are supposed to be better-looking than dogs!”
Qin Yuhe: “Not necessarily. Some people have worse hearts than dogs and look uglier than them, too.”
Song Xinya: …
She immediately thought of Song Xuanli, Li Cuirou, and Zhang Yingying.
Qin Yuhe’s palm slid onto her thigh.
“Since you brought it up, how about we do it once tonight?”
Song Xinya grabbed the pillow beside her and smacked him over the head.
“Do what? In your dreams!”
Qin Yuhe: “I don’t want to do it with a ghost. I only want to do it with you.”
The pillow in Song Xinya’s hands came down on his head again and again. The pillowcase split open, sending goose feathers flying everywhere.
“I’ll beat you to death!”
“I’ll beat you to death!”
“I’ll beat you to death!”
In the end, nothing happened that night.
Song Xinya declared that if they were only doing it three times a week, they had to make it last.
Qin Yuhe: “Got it, honey.”
The Young Master continued to suffer in silence.
………
The next day, while she was at work, Song Xinya received a phone call.
“Hello, may I speak with Miss Song?”
Song Xinya: “This is she.”
The caller said, “I’m the receptionist at Yating Education Technology Co., Ltd.”
Song Xinya tapped a button on her phone.
The receptionist continued, “The company is holding a shareholders’ meeting at 1:30 this afternoon. As one of the company’s largest shareholders, we sincerely invite you to attend.”
Song Xinya currently owned twenty percent of the company’s shares, making her, along with Song Xuanli, the company’s largest shareholder.
By the time Song Xinya arrived at the conference room, the shareholders’ meeting had supposedly been underway for half an hour.
Zhang Yingying looked at her mockingly. “Everyone else arrived on time. You’re the only one who’s late.”
Song Xuanli said, “You even managed to be late for such an important meeting. You certainly think highly of yourself.”
Li Cuirou added, “Don’t be so hard on Xinxin. She may have been delayed by something important, which is why she’s late.”
The shareholders were displeased at having the meeting interrupted so suddenly. They all looked at Song Xinya with obvious annoyance.
Song Xinya glanced at the time.
It was 1:20.
She had arrived ten minutes earlier than the time the receptionist had given her.
Zhang Yingying sneered, “You’re already the president of a Qin Group branch, yet you have no sense of time. Are you really capable of running a company, Song Xinya? Don’t go bankrupting the place.”
Song Xuanli said, “Since you’re already late, hurry up and bow to everyone and apologize.”
Li Cuirou looked at Song Xinya with feigned concern. “Yaya, if it were only your father, mother, and sister here, we could let it go. We’re family, after all—you wouldn’t need to apologize. But all the shareholders are here today. You’ve wasted everyone’s time, so you should still apologize.”
With everyone insisting that she apologize for being late, the shareholders’ looks grew even more displeased.
Faced with their accusations and disapproving stares, Song Xinya remained calm. She showed no fear or hesitation.
Looking directly at everyone, she said loudly, “I’m not late. Why should I apologize?”
Zhang Yingying: “The meeting started at one, and you didn’t arrive until twenty past. Of course you’re late! The facts are right in front of you, yet you’re still making excuses. You have absolutely no class.”
Song Xinya: “The receptionist told me the meeting would begin at 1:30.”
Song Xuanli: “That’s a ridiculous excuse. The receptionist told every shareholder that the meeting would begin at one.”
The others chimed in, “We all received calls saying it started at one.”
Li Cuirou said, “I know the receptionist. She’s extremely conscientious and responsible. There’s no way she would have gotten it wrong. Yaya, you must be mistaken.”
Zhang Yingying exchanged a glance with Li Cuirou, and triumph flashed in their eyes.
Shareholders’ meetings had always been announced by written invitation. This time, the mother and daughter had deliberately arranged for everyone to be notified by phone so they could set Song Xinya up.
They told the other shareholders that the meeting began at one, while telling Song Xinya that it began at 1:30.
That way, everyone would think Song Xinya was late.
Since the receptionist had notified her by phone and there was no written record, Song Xinya had no proof and no way to defend herself. Whether she wanted it or not, she would have to wear the label of being late.
Song Xinya looked at the mocking smiles on Zhang Yingying and Li Cuirou’s faces and gave them a mocking smile of her own.
She unlocked her phone and played a recording. The receptionist’s voice echoed throughout the conference room.
“The company is holding a shareholders’ meeting at 1:30 this afternoon. As one of the company’s largest shareholders, we sincerely invite you to attend.”
The moment Song Xinya realized that the caller was the receptionist of Yating Education Technology Co., Ltd., she had pressed the record button.
One should never let down one’s guard against others.
Always leave a record of what you do, and preserve evidence whenever possible.
The first thing one must learn in society is how to protect oneself.
The accusing looks vanished from the shareholders’ faces. Their eyes were now filled with apology as they looked at Song Xinya.
Zhang Yingying and Li Cuirou lowered their heads, no longer daring to criticize Song Xinya.
