Song Xinya’s face turned a little red as she listened to Old Madam Qin.
Why was everyone in the Qin family so open? There were so many people present, yet they had already started openly discussing having children.
She glanced at Gu Qingcheng and saw that her expression remained perfectly calm, without the slightest hint of embarrassment.
Gu Qingcheng was such a gentle and refined person, yet even when everyone was discussing things like having triplets or twins in one go, she didn’t seem embarrassed at all.
Not only that, she even joined in the discussion as casually as if they were talking about the weather, offering suggestions on how Yaya and Little He could have a baby.
“If Yaya keeps trying to conceive in the capital but still doesn’t get pregnant, they could try going somewhere else. For example, Yaya and Little He could visit Dali in Yunnan, Xiamen in Fujian, Hawaii in the United States, London in England, or Munich in Germany. A change of scenery and mood might do the trick. Maybe Little He could get Yaya pregnant on the very first try.”
Song Xinya: “…”
Her entire face flushed with embarrassment.
She sighed inwardly. Perhaps her skin was just too thin.
While everyone was enthusiastically discussing having children, Song Xinya suddenly felt something tugging at the hem of her blouse.
She looked down and saw a chubby little hand.
The adorable little boy tilted up his exquisitely carved face and looked at Song Xinya. “Pretty big sister, the moment I saw you, I felt like you were really familiar. Have we met before?”
Song Xinya looked at the handsome little boy who resembled a tiny elf. There were plenty of cute children in the world, but she had never seen one as beautiful as him.
“Sweetie, I don’t think we’ve met before.”
The little boy looked utterly certain. He held up one chubby finger and waved it back and forth. “No, no, no! Pretty big sister, I’m absolutely sure I’ve seen you before.”
Song Xinya asked, “Then tell me, where did you see me?”
The little boy made a heart shape with both hands in front of his chest and then shot it toward Song Xinya with a “biu.”
“In my dreams! You’re the woman of my dreams!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
Qin Yuhe was not happy.
He shot a sidelong glance at Fu Xiaochen. “Can you control your Little Meat Grenade? He’s trying to steal my wife right in front of me.”
Fu Xiaochen shrugged. “What can a child do wrong? He’s just innocent and pure.”
Qin Yuhe said, “Innocent and pure? I think he’s gone completely astray.”
“There’s nothing I can do if you insist on putting it that way.”
Qin Yuhe, his cousin, had never missed an opportunity to annoy him. This was the perfect chance to let his son torment Qin Yuhe a little.
At home, that boy was always fighting him for his wife, which gave Fu Xiaochen a headache. Since they were out, he might as well let the boy cause Qin Yuhe some trouble. At least he could be useful for something.
Seeing that Fu Xiaochen had no intention of intervening, Qin Yuhe crouched in front of the little boy and pinched his cheek, squishing the child’s soft, rosy face out of shape.
“Let me correct you. She may be pretty, but she isn’t your big sister. She’s my wife. You should call her Auntie.”
The little boy’s grape-like eyes widened in realization. “So she’s my auntie.”
He lowered his long, thick eyelashes and thought for a moment before saying in his childish voice, “Even though she’s my auntie, I can still like her. True love is invincible. The one who isn’t loved is the mistress.”
Qin Yuhe was speechless.
He looked up at Fu Xiaochen. “Your son’s moral compass is more twisted than the winding course of the Yellow River.”
Fu Xiaochen was troubled by this too. Every night, the little rascal insisted on sleeping with his mother. Naturally, Fu Xiaochen refused, so he had told the boy, “Your mother loves me, so she has to sleep with me. If you insist on squeezing between us, it’s like stealing someone else’s wife. That makes you a mistress, and it’s very wrong.”
The little boy had stopped fighting Fu Xiaochen for Gu Qingcheng for a few days.
Then, one day, while he was watching videos on a phone, he saw a video blogger say, “The one who isn’t loved is the mistress.”
The little boy rested his chin on his hand and thought about it for a while before running to Gu Qingcheng and asking, “Mommy, do you love me?”
Gu Qingcheng kissed his little cheek. “Of course I love you, sweetheart. Mommy loves you very, very much.”
That night, the little boy went right back to fighting Fu Xiaochen for Gu Qingcheng. He squeezed between them and insisted that his mother hold him to sleep.
Fu Xiaochen tried to educate him using the same argument. “Your mother loves me, so she has to sleep with me. If you insist on squeezing between us, it’s like stealing someone else’s wife. That makes you a mistress, and it’s very wrong.”
The little boy replied, “I already asked Mommy. She said she loves me. The one who isn’t loved is the mistress, so I’m not a mistress.”
He was still so young that he wore diapers, yet he already possessed the ability to reason. His logic was completely twisted, but it formed a flawless loop.
Armed with this theory, the little boy seemed to have acquired an imperial decree. Every night, he squeezed between Fu Xiaochen and Gu Qingcheng to sleep.
If Fu Xiaochen wanted to be intimate with his wife, he had to wait until their son fell asleep.
The two of them had to move quietly, and they didn’t even dare take all their clothes off. Whenever Fu Xiaochen made even the slightest bit too much noise, Gu Qingcheng would push him away.
“Be quieter. You’re making too much noise. What if the child hears us?”
They were a legally married couple, yet they acted as if they were sneaking around behind someone’s back.
Fu Xiaochen was utterly miserable.
He said to Qin Yuhe, “Why don’t you help straighten out his values? Tell him to stop clinging to someone else’s wife every day.”
Qin Yuhe asked the little boy, “You insist on liking my wife, huh?”
“Yes,” the little boy replied. “It’s not against the law to like someone.”
Qin Yuhe said, “Then I’ll have a son too, and I’ll let him like your mother and fight you for her every day.”
The little boy looked as if he had been struck by lightning. His mouth fell wide open.
“Oh—my—God!”
Qin Yuhe asked, “Do you still like my wife?”
The little boy thought carefully for a moment before answering, “Although I like Pretty Auntie, compared with my mommy, I still like my mommy more. I’ve decided that I won’t fight you for your wife anymore.”
Qin Yuhe stood up and said to Song Xinya, “See? A man’s love is this shallow. It isn’t worth a penny.”
Qin Yuhe’s problem had been solved, but Fu Xiaochen said, “My problem hasn’t been solved yet.”
“You’re almost forty. Solve your own problems.”
Fu Xiaochen: “...I’m only in my early thirties.”
“Isn’t that still almost forty?”
Fu Xiaochen was about to say, “Aren’t you the same?” but Qin Yuhe had already left the battlefield and walked into the dining room.
The group gathered around the dining table.
Of the ten dishes on the table, nine were nourishing dishes intended to boost male vitality, while the last one was baby food.
After eating such a heavily supplemented meal, even a bull would have been able to produce milk!
After the meal, Old Madam Qin asked Fu Xiaochen and Gu Qingcheng to share their experience with Qin Yuhe and Song Xinya on how to conceive.
Qin Yuhe and Fu Xiaochen went to the study.
Song Xinya and Gu Qingcheng went to the sunroom, where exotic flowers and plants were displayed.
Gu Qingcheng said, “I noticed earlier that you seemed a little embarrassed while everyone was discussing having children. Is that right?”
Song Xinya replied, “A little.”
“I was the same way at first. I was very shy. But after having a child, I no longer feel embarrassed when I hear people discussing such topics.”
Song Xinya asked, puzzled, “Why?”
Gu Qingcheng told her about something that had happened:
“After I gave birth to our two babies, I would ask Xiaochen to leave whenever I needed to breastfeed. Only then would I lift my clothes and feed the baby.
“But once, I was suffering from such severe engorgement that even the breast pump couldn’t empty my breasts completely. They were as hard as two rocks, so I asked Xiaochen to help me.
“His mouth worked better than the most expensive breast pump. The swelling disappeared immediately after he finished, and from then on, I had him help me every day.
“After that, I just stopped feeling embarrassed about things like giving birth and breastfeeding.”
Song Xinya summed it up in three points:
First, the more intimate things you experience, the more desensitized you become.
Second, your breasts become engorged after giving birth.
Third, if your breasts ever become engorged, you can use your husband as a breast pump and have him help you.”
