On the way back to the classroom, while Zheng Binyang was talking to Lu Xun, Lu Yu quickly called Nanny Li to ask her to come and pick him up.
Nanny Li had gone up to the second floor and knocked on the door twice, but there was no response from inside. She figured she would go back down to coax Lu Xun some more, but to her surprise, she couldn't find him when she went downstairs.
She called the other nannies and searched around the house but couldn't find him either. Just as she was getting anxious, Lu Yu called to say that Lu Xun was with him.
Only then did Nanny Li's heart finally settle back into her chest.
Meanwhile, Lu Yu led Lu Xun to the classroom door, facing another dilemma.
He couldn't really bring Lu Xun into the classroom; that would definitely disrupt everyone's studies.
Just as he was agonizing over it, Ms. Zhang walked over. "Lu Yu, why aren't you going into the classroom? Oh, who is this little child?"
"My younger brother, Lu Xun." Lu Yu briefly explained the situation.
"How about this: I'll take him to the office first, and when your nanny arrives, I'll send him out." Ms. Zhang crouched down. "Lu Xun, your brother has to go to class now. How about you come to the office with me first?"
Lu Xun shook his head. "I want to be with my brother."

Lu Xun blinked. "But I'm still little. I don't know how to write the things my brother writes."

However, he didn't know the way.
Just as he was feeling distressed, two people walked toward him.
"Which teacher's child is this? How come I've never seen him before?"
"I haven't either. He's quite cute."
The two teachers crouched down. "Little one, whose child are you?"
"I'm my mommy's child." Lu Xun stuck out his little belly. "My mommy is Shu Qingqing, my daddy is Lu Bochuan, my brother is Lu Yu, and my grandma is..."
Lu Xun scratched his head. "I forgot what my grandma's name is. Two pretty aunties, can you take me to find my brother?"
The two teachers happened to teach the senior year, so they definitely knew Lu Yu, the top student in the grade, but they hadn't expected this little kid to be his brother.
"Why did Lu Yu bring his brother here?" one short-haired teacher muttered. "Let's go, I'll take you to find your brother."
The short-haired teacher led Lu Xun to Class One.
She knocked on the door, intending to explain the situation to the teacher overseeing the morning reading session and call Lu Yu out.
But Lu Xun had already spotted Lu Yu.
"Brother!" Lu Xun ran straight into the classroom and hugged Lu Yu's leg. "Brother, why didn't you come find me for so long? I missed you so, so much."
In an instant, all the students in the class looked over.
"Why did God Lu bring his brother to school?"
"Lu Yu's brother is so cute, I want to squish his cheeks."
Seeing everyone staring at him, Lu Xun shyly hid behind Lu Yu's back at first, then peeked out half his head. "Brother, why are they all looking at me?"
Lu Yu saw the English teacher frown and quickly said, "Sorry." Just as he was about to pull Lu Xun outside, the class dismissal bell rang.
As soon as the English teacher left, the whole class instantly crowded around Lu Yu's seat.
Classmate A: "Little brother, what's your name?"
"My name is Lu Xun."
Classmate B: "Little brother, why did you come to our school with your brother?"
"My kindergarten is no good. I want to go to school with my brother."
Classmate C: "Little brother, are you hungry? Big sister has some yummy snacks here."
"No, Mommy said I can't eat things from strangers."
Classmate D: "Little brother, can you count from one to a hundred?"
"Of course I can, I'm super awesome. I even won first place before."
When Shu Qingqing arrived, she saw Lu Xun counting with a proud look on his face.
Lu Bochuan had tossed her around until two in the morning before letting her sleep, so neither of them heard Nanny Li the first time she knocked on the door.
It wasn't until Nanny Li knocked the second time that she found out Lu Xun had gone to school with Lu Yu.
She hurriedly got up to wash and rushed over without even bothering to put on makeup.
"I'm so sorry, Ms. Zhang, for causing you trouble." Shu Qingqing smiled apologetically at Ms. Zhang.
Ms. Zhang smiled. "It's fine. Little boys at this age just love sticking to their older brothers."
Shu Qingqing felt too embarrassed to mention the real reason Lu Xun refused to go to kindergarten. After exchanging a few more words with Ms. Zhang, she went into the classroom to catch him.
Lu Xun was bursting with joy from all the praise. Just as he was about to speak, he caught sight of Shu Qingqing out of the corner of his eye and immediately dove into Lu Yu's arms. "Brother, save me! Mommy's here to catch me!"
Lu Yu didn't save him; instead, he carried him out of the classroom.
"You've grown quite bold, Lu Xun, daring to run off without saying a word. What if you were taken by bad guys?" Shu Qingqing gave his bottom a firm smack.
"I didn't run around blindly. There are no bad guys when I'm with my brother." Lu Xun lowered his head guiltily. "It's your fault, Mommy, for not changing my kindergarten. The big kids at my brother's school are nice and they all like me. I'm going to go to school with my brother from now on."
"Wait until you actually get into elementary school first." As they spoke, the bell rang. Afraid of delaying Lu Yu's class, Shu Qingqing took Lu Xun and prepared to leave.
Lu Yu went into the classroom but walked back out. "Mom, just talk to Lu Xun nicely when you get back. Don't hit him."
Lu Xun whimpered, wanting Lu Yu to hold him. "Brother, I'm not leaving. I want to go to school with you."
Shu Qingqing scoffed coldly, "If you don't leave now, you're really going to get a spanking."
Lu Xun could only follow Shu Qingqing away, looking back longingly with every step.
But once they got in the car, he still absolutely refused to go to kindergarten. "Mommy, just spank me. Even if you spank me, I won't go to kindergarten."
After saying that, he hugged Shu Qingqing and acted spoiled. "Mommy, I love you. Mommy, you're the best. I don't like the kids at kindergarten. They all make fun of me. Please don't send me to kindergarten, okay?"
Shu Qingqing knew Lu Xun still hadn't gotten over his stubbornness, so she had no choice but to take him home first.
Halfway there, Lu Bochuan called.
"Did you pick up Lu Xun?"
Shu Qingqing sighed. "I got him, but he still refuses to go to kindergarten. I plan to take him home first."
"Bring him to the company."
"Huh?" Shu Qingqing was surprised. "You don't want to spank him yourself, do you?"
In the backseat of the car, Lu Xun's eyes widened too.
Lu Bochuan's laughter came through the phone. "I don't have time to spank him."
"Didn't you promise last night that you would keep me company at the office again today?"
Remembering exactly how she had been persuaded to agree last night, Shu Qingqing's ears turned red.
