Did I Get Arrogant After Binding Four Systems?

Chapter 10

The two-month monthly exam wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, and Mu Yue decided to take the whole Sunday off for herself. Aside from resting, she had two things to take care of: first, go to the original host's family home to retrieve her own belongings, and second, move into a new place.

Her hotel experience card had expired on Friday, so Mu Yue extended her stay for two more days. Up to that point, she had received 900,000 yuan from the daily check-in system, and spent a total of 580,000 yuan, which covered the salaries for her tutor and Qianqian. She could still easily afford to stay at the hotel, but having a place of her own would be far more convenient.

Qianqian did not let Mu Yue down. When Mu Yue walked out of the school on Saturday afternoon, Qianqian was already waiting for her with data on three different properties.

The appearance of Carter the butler had put a lot of extra pressure on Qianqian. Mu Yue had given her half a month to find a house, but if it really took her that long to get the job done, she would only ever qualify as a short-term temporary assistant.

"The first one is 2.2 kilometers away from the school, two apartments per floor, 348 square meters of indoor space, with a top-floor garden. Look, this is the garden." Qianqian tapped on her tablet to pull up a live on-site video she had filmed, and showed it to Mu Yue.

The owner of this apartment seemed to love tending to flowers and plants, and the garden was incredibly well-kept. It was currently the Spring Festival period, and all the flowers were in full bloom, so beautiful they looked like they had stepped right out of an oil painting. Not just the rooftop garden, even the indoor balconies were filled with flowers. The entire decoration style leaned heavily into the floral theme, very romantic, almost like a fairy tale world.

It was very pleasing to the eye, but Mu Yue had no interest in taking care of plants, nor did she want to hire someone to do it for her. What's more, with so many flowers around, there would be more mosquitoes as the seasons changed. Who would want to go up to the top floor to bask in the scorching summer sun just to admire flowers? It looked nice enough right now, but Mu Yue had no desire to study outdoors, the atmosphere just wasn't right.

Seeing that Mu Yue did not like the place, Qianqian got a little nervous. She skipped over mentioning the specific rent for this apartment entirely, and went straight to the next property on her list.

"This one is 1.8 kilometers from the school, one apartment per floor, on the 16th floor, with 579 square meters of indoor space..." As Qianqian spoke, Mu Yue scrolled through the images on the tablet.

This was a luxury large flat with an incredibly open view. The fully enclosed panoramic French windows on the balcony were very grand, and the overall style was minimalist. The apartment looked nothing but spacious and empty, with fairly sharp, cold lines, though the warm tone of the floors softened that harshness a little. Of course, it had its downsides too: apart from the most essential home appliances and furniture, there was not a single extra item in the place. The rent was also fixed at a steep 180,000 yuan per month.

The third property was a villa, a little further away, 3 kilometers from the school. The size and decoration style of the villa were both pretty standard, with its highlight being the front and back yards. The front yard was a landscaped garden, and the back yard had a swimming pool. On top of that, there were two underground floors, one designed for collections and the other with an indoor swimming pool. It was obvious that the owner was very fond of swimming.

Mu Yue was only mildly interested in swimming, and besides, she would have plenty of time for that during summer vacation. Right now she just needed a temporary place to stay, so those two swimming pools were hardly useful, and this property was also the farthest one from the school. She did not hesitate to tell Qianqian to contact the landlord of the second apartment, arrange a viewing for the next afternoon, and sign the lease right away if it was suitable. The lack of furniture was not a problem at all. Now that her status as a "godly rich" player had risen to level 1, she got 500,000 yuan from daily check-ins, so buying new furniture would be a perfect way to spend money and earn more points.

Early on Sunday morning, Mu Yue checked in as soon as she woke up, and looked at the balance in her bank account. She had no plans to use her double points card right now, because she was expecting another sum of income that day, and she would wait to use the card after that money arrived.

After breakfast, Mu Yue tied her hair into a high ponytail, did not bring Qianqian along, and took a taxi alone to a residential community. This place was none other than the original host's family home.

Mu Yue did not go straight in. Instead, she found a spot with no surveillance cameras and no passersby, summoned Carter the butler, who still had over an hour left on his active time, and walked into the residential complex with a cold expression, Carter following at her heels.

Carter's appearance and temperament immediately drew a lot of attention from the people around. Some of the residents who recognized Mu Yue stared at her several times in confusion, then started whispering to the people they knew.

Mu Yue could not hear what they were saying, but she could guess the gist of it. Her uncle's family was the classic example of terrible, grasping relatives. They had seized the original host's house, and even gone around smearing her reputation, working hard to paint her as an unruly, disobedient bad girl, while presenting themselves as kind, hardworking relatives who had raised her through great effort, only to be called leeches by an ungrateful Mu Yue.

The original host had never said such a thing, but Mu Yue thought this family had a pretty good way of describing themselves.

The elevator arrived. Back in apartment 1602, the whole family was already on high alert. Earlier, Mu Jun had been about to go downstairs for breakfast, when he caught a glimpse of Mu Yue and her butler from far away, and immediately sprinted back home.

She's here, she's actually here!

The school had not issued an official notice of criticism yet that Monday, but the whole school already knew about the incident with the group of four boys. Those four were still locked up at the police station, certain to face prison time, no one knew exactly for how many years. With the college entrance exam just around the corner, sending them to prison would ruin their entire lives, as they would be locked up for years before they could get back out.

Mu Jun ran home and told his family the news, but his parents and grandparents did not quite believe him, though they could not help but start feeling anxious. They knew exactly what kind of character Mu Yue had, she never would have had the guts to do something that drastic, but the mysterious backer she had now was a different story.

The sound of the door lock being turned made the whole family in the living room snap their heads towards the entrance.

Carter pulled the door open for Mu Yue, and Mu Yue swept her gaze across everything inside the house. The three members of the younger generation plus the elderly couple had filled the whole place with their own belongings, there was not a single thing left that belonged to the original host.

Mu Yue did not say a word, she walked in, and Carter closed the door behind them. That was when Mu Yue spoke: "Lock it."

"Yueyue, you're back! You really are something, not telling the family when you got sick and were in the hospital. And now you come back and lock the door, it's broad daylight, why lock the door?" The second aunt quickly put on a smile, but her voice trailed off as she spoke.

She had barely finished half her sentence when Carter had already locked the door, then quickly pulled a chair over for Mu Yue and wiped it clean.

Mu Yue sat down, crossed her arms, propped one leg over the other, and looked at the five of them coldly. "You have two choices. First, buy this apartment from me at the market price. Second, take all your trash and get out of my house."

"What's that attitude! Is that any way to talk to your elders?" The old man was the first to fly into a rage, thumping his cane hard against the floor.

"Yueyue, you're going too far! This house was your father's, it already belongs to us two old folks! You can't keep it all to yourself, over our dead bodies!"

"You can't forget where you came from! We raised you for several years, and look how well you've turned out!"

"Exactly! We've lived here for years, what gives you the right—" The second uncle's words were cut off sharply, like a duck being squeezed by the neck.

A cold black object was pressed against the old lady's forehead. She had just started talking and was about to grab Mu Yue, poking her forehead to yell at her, but her fingers never even got close to Mu Yue before Carter stopped her.

Not just her, everyone in the room went dead silent. The heavy breathing and shaking legs of all five people were so loud they seemed almost audible.

"You, you, you... This, this is a society ruled by law! You can't do this! And that thing is totally illegal!" Mu Yue's second uncle was so terrified he was about to wet himself. The rest of the relatives were no better off. The old patriarch of the family, who already had a slight tremor in his legs, was now shaking nonstop as if he was in the middle of a malarial fever.

Carter flashed his badge. "Lawfully possessed."

Mu Yue was actually a little stunned too. Before they came in, she had only told Carter to make sure this group of people kept quiet, but she never expected that this badge of his not only came with official authorization, but also the full set of gear to back it up.

Still, the effect was absolutely perfect. Mu Yue kept a perfectly calm face, and continued, "I'm not here to discuss this with you. I'm here to inform you. Do you all understand? What's this nonsense about you being entitled to a share? Huh? Didn't my parents' insurance money belong to me alone?"

"How did you even—" the second aunt blurted out, and the second the words left her mouth, every other member of the family glared daggers at her, making her clamp her mouth shut immediately.

"How did I find out?" The original owner of this body really had no clue about any of this, but Mu Yue had worked it all out. "What score did Mu Jun get on his high school entrance exam? How did he even get admitted to No.7 High School? How much did you pay to buy that spot? A hundred thousand? Two hundred thousand? The whole lot of you laze around all day, never holding down a proper job for long, but the second you moved into my place you lived like kings and queens, eating and drinking the best of everything. Where do you think all that money came from? Whose money do you think you've been spending without a second thought?"

Mu Yue leaned back in her chair and smiled faintly. "I'm even bothering to talk to you right now only because I don't want to get my hands dirty for the time being. Otherwise, what makes you think you'd all still be sitting here right now, all your limbs intact and perfectly fine?"

This time, someone actually did wet themselves. The old grandmother. The whole family went deathly pale, looking as lifeless as corpses.

They had never actually known who Mu Yue had gotten close to lately. All their information came from rumors Mu Jun picked up at school: that Mu Yue was some long-lost daughter of a huge wealthy conglomerate, that her newly found family doted on her to no end, that they had arranged for her to stay at the best hotel in H City, assigned her a personal secretary and bodyguards, and that anyone who dared to bully her would get dealt with immediately the moment they crossed paths with her people.

They had been skeptical about all that before, but now? They didn't dare doubt it for a second.

Mu Yue knew very well that you never reason with shameless leeches, and you never trap yourself in unnecessary moral constraints. The only way to make people like that fear you is to be tougher than they are. After all, they only pick on the weak and cower before the strong.

Carter chimed in perfectly in support, "If you still don't get what she's saying, I don't mind breaking the rules a little to make it clearer for you."

All five of them nodded frantically to show they understood, they really did understand, they would move out of the house immediately.

Mu Yue smiled. "Oh, no. The house is only the first thing. The insurance money you stole from me, you're paying that back too. And you're paying it back today."

Mu Yue walked out of the residential complex, with 256,000 yuan freshly transferred to her account. That was the remaining portion of the insurance money they had on hand, and the rest they would pay off in full within a week.

Mu Yue found a secluded spot with no surveillance cameras and no other people around, put her bank card away, and glanced at the time. Great, the whole thing took a total of twenty-three minutes. Absolutely peak efficiency. She'd just cleared the "Annoying Relatives" level in record time!

She activated her double balance card, and her savings instantly doubled, hitting 1.34 million yuan. Perfect! That was more than enough to cover the rent, all the new furniture, and every home appliance she needed.
