Bro, If You Keep Being a Simp, I’ll Go After Your Rival

Chapter 27

In the finance office.

Fu Jie had just sat back down at his desk when the office door was kicked open.

A man swaggered in and dropped into a chair, his tone aggressive and overbearing.

“Finance Director Fu, why haven’t you transferred the twenty million yuan approved by CEO Zhou?”

Fu Jie lifted his eyes and gave him a cold look before returning to the document in his hand.

“I’m the finance director. Do I need to report to you before I authorize a payment?”

The man was Wang Zhengfei, Su Wan’s cousin.

Thanks to Su Wan’s strong recommendation, he had landed the position of vice president of the finance department at the Zhou Corporation.

He was a thoroughly despicable man. After joining the company, he not only threw his weight around in the department but also secretly falsified the accounts.

He had embezzled more than eight million yuan from the company and taken it to Macau to gamble, losing every cent in a single night.

Gambling wasn’t his only vice. He was also a notorious womanizer.

Some time ago, Fu Jie had discovered irregularities in the accounts and confronted Wang Zhengfei, only to have Wang Zhengfei use the relationship between Su Wan and Zhou Sui’an as a shield.

Fu Jie had no choice but to grit his teeth and report the matter to Zhou Sui’an.

Zhou Sui’an’s response had been indifferent and noncommittal. He had simply told Fu Jie not to interfere and said that he would handle it.

Wang Zhengfei had been worried for a while, but when he saw that Zhou Sui’an showed no sign of punishing him, he became even more brazen. He had even begun openly pushing his luck.

“What are you trying to pull?”

Wang Zhengfei let out a mocking laugh, his face full of smugness.

“Let me tell you something. CEO Zhou is going to be my brother-in-law. Sooner or later, this company will belong to us. I’m letting you stay only because I’m giving you face. If you offend me, I’ll have CEO Zhou fire you tomorrow.”

“Quite the big shot, aren’t you?”

Fu Jie set down his pen and leaned back in his chair.

He looked at the good-for-nothing before him—a man who couldn’t even understand double-entry bookkeeping yet threw his weight around at the company simply because he had connections.

His eyes were filled with contempt, and his heart with deep disappointment.

Fu Jie held a PhD in finance from Tsinghua University and was a top certified public accountant. He had turned down numerous high-paying positions at major companies because he had been moved by Zhou Sui’an’s sincerity and chosen to join the Zhou Corporation.

He had come here with great ambitions, not to compete with a petty, despicable man like this.

At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before he resigned of his own accord.

Though he was disappointed, he showed no weakness in his words.

“The authority to appoint and dismiss company personnel lies with the CEO and the board of directors. You don’t have the power to fire me. Now get out of my office.”

“You!”

Wang Zhengfei’s face turned livid after being rebuffed. He pointed furiously at Fu Jie’s nose but didn’t dare actually lay a hand on him. Cursing under his breath, he slammed the door and stormed out.

“Damn it. He really has no idea who I am. Just wait until I tell CEO Zhou. Let’s see how you’ll answer for this!”

With nowhere to vent his anger, he had barely reached the corner of the corridor when he collided head-on with a female employee carrying coffee.

Some of the warm coffee splashed onto his shirt.

The female employee instantly went white with fear and apologized repeatedly.

“I’m sorry, Vice President Wang. I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose.”

Wang Zhengfei was about to explode, but when he looked up and saw the young woman’s delicate features and frightened, reddened eyes, a lecherous gleam flashed through his gaze.

“Look at you. I’m not some man-eating tiger. Why has your little face gone so pale?”

He reached out and flirtatiously brushed back the hair beside her ear.

The female employee recoiled in fright, avoiding his hand.

The smile on Wang Zhengfei’s face froze.

His expression changed instantly, and he let out a cold laugh.

“You got coffee on my clothes. Do you think an apology is enough? Be in the stairwell beside the office in five minutes. Otherwise… you won’t have to come to work tomorrow.”

The female employee trembled all over, and tears immediately spilled down her cheeks.

“Vice President Wang, please let me go. I can’t lose this job. My father is still in the hospital, and I need to support him.”

“If you don’t want to lose your job, then do exactly as I say.”

With an insidious, lecherous smile, Wang Zhengfei turned and walked away.

The female employee could no longer hold back. She put down the coffee and ran sobbing down the corridor.

Wang Zhengfei had set his sights on her from the very first day she joined the department.

She had lived in fear every day, terrified of offending him, but she still hadn’t managed to escape his clutches.

She had worked so hard to pass the recruitment exam and get into the Zhou Corporation. She didn’t want to lose her job just like this.

Panicking, she ran without looking where she was going.

As soon as she rounded a corner, she collided with someone.

The female employee cried out and stumbled to the side.

In the blink of an eye, a hand caught her by the arm.

“Are you all right?”

A gentle voice reached her ears. When the female employee looked up, she realized that she had run into the Young Miss.

She had actually collided with the Young Miss.

How unlucky could she be today?

“I-I’m fine.”

The female employee only lowered her head and cried, her lips trembling. She had clearly been terrified.

“What happened?”

Zhou Suisui’s gaze fell on the employee badge pinned to the woman’s chest: Finance Department, Team One, Intern Li Qingqing.

“You’re an intern in the finance department?”

“Yes…”

Li Qingqing nodded hesitantly.

The Young Miss didn’t seem angry, and her voice was gentle too.

Zhou Suisui glanced in the direction behind Li Qingqing, and her expression darkened.

“Come upstairs with me.”

Li Qingqing’s shoulders trembled, but her eyes turned toward the stairwell.

If she went with the Young Miss now, she should be able to escape Vice President Wang’s clutches for the time being.

Without hesitation, she followed Zhou Suisui upstairs.

The CEO’s office on the top floor.

Zhou Suisui had her secretary bring in a cup of warm water and handed it to Li Qingqing.

“Don’t be afraid. You’re safe here. You can tell me what happened.”

Li Qingqing held the cup in both hands. Feeling the warmth seep into her palms, she gradually calmed down, but she still kept her mouth tightly shut, afraid to say a word.

Zhou Suisui didn’t pressure her. Instead, she immediately instructed her secretary, “Go to Security and retrieve the surveillance footage from the finance department from ten minutes ago. Send it to me right away.”

“Yes, Assistant Zhou.”

A few minutes later, the secretary sent over the surveillance video.

Zhou Suisui opened it.

The footage clearly showed Wang Zhengfei acting arrogantly, harassing and threatening Li Qingqing.

So it really was that bully who abused his connections.

She let out a cold laugh. She had been looking for an opportunity to drive him out of the company, and now he had delivered himself straight into her hands.

She turned the phone screen toward Li Qingqing and played the video clearly in front of her.

“He sexually harassed you. The evidence is right here. Are you willing to stand up and testify against him?”

Li Qingqing’s eyes darted away, and she spoke in a small voice.

“I’m afraid… I’m afraid he’ll retaliate against me. Young Miss, I’m sorry, but I can’t lose this job. My father is waiting for me to bring home the money for his medical treatment.”

Seeing how frightened she truly was, Zhou Suisui reassured her, “I’m here. I guarantee that you won’t be fired.”

Li Qingqing froze, then looked up at her. The Young Miss’s eyes were clear and steady.

After hesitating for several seconds, she finally gritted her teeth and nodded firmly.

“Young Miss, I’m willing!”

“Good. Come with me.”

With a smile tugging at her lips, Zhou Suisui headed straight for the finance department.

“Finance Director Fu, sorry to disturb you.”

Zhou Suisui arrived with purpose and pushed open the door to the director’s office.

Bang!

The loud crash drew the attention of every employee in the finance department.

They lowered their voices and gathered together to whisper.

“Isn’t that the Young Miss? I heard she joined the company today as the CEO’s special assistant, and that all the senior executives have to listen to her.”

“Why is she here to see our director?”

“Who knows? Keep your voice down. The director hasn’t seemed happy lately. I suspect he’s planning to resign.”

“Ah, the director is such a good person. To be honest, I’m a little reluctant to see him leave…”

Fu Jie was looking down and processing some documents when he saw Zhou Suisui storming toward him. He quickly stood up.

“Assistant Zhou?”

“Finance Director Fu, my brother trusted you enough to put you in charge of the company’s entire Finance Department, yet you can’t even manage the employees under you. Is this what you call competence?”

The employees who had been waiting for a show were startled.

“She really came to make trouble for the director. Let’s go take a look.”

“Come on, let’s go together.”

The employees of the Finance Department gathered around one after another.

“…”

Fu Jie swept his gaze over the crowd, his brows immediately drawing together.

He had thought the Young Miss of the Zhou family was different—reasonable and measured. He hadn’t expected her to be the type who blamed people without bothering to distinguish right from wrong.

Wang Zhengfei’s eyes lit up. He hurried over to add fuel to the fire.

“Assistant Zhou, you must punish Finance Director Fu properly. He’s clearly incompetent.”

He thought to himself: This little girl really doesn’t understand anything. Once Fu Jie is driven out, the Finance Department will truly be under his control.

It seemed even Heaven was on his side.
