The year was 7240 of the Federation calendar.
Two stellar dawns after the death of the previous Insect Queen, the Federation launched a new research project—and achieved success in just three short months.
Yunyang, whose mental power had advanced to SSS rank, became the second test subject.
Still somewhat bewildered, Yunyang followed Si Zhao to the laboratory. “Sister Zhaozhao, why did you suddenly bring me here?”
Si Zhao wore a mysterious smile. “The laboratory has developed a new tourism project. I’ve already tried it. Do you want to give it a shot?”
“A tourism project?” Yunyang’s interest was piqued. “Which planet is it on?”
Si Zhao did not answer. She simply pulled Yunyang farther inside, eventually stopping outside a sealed laboratory.
“Authorization confirmed.”
“Welcome, Your Majesty.”
After recognizing Si Zhao’s authorization, the metal door slowly opened.
Si Zhao pulled Yunyang inside. With her permission, Yunyang’s ten beastmen husbands followed them into the laboratory.
There was only one machine inside, and Yunyang had never seen anything like it.
Si Zhao cleared her throat and explained, “This is a time-travel device. It can send you back as far as a thousand years ago—or even earlier in the Federation’s history. After traveling through time, you can stay there for up to six months.”
Time travel?
Yunyang took a moment to process the words.
After listening to Si Zhao’s explanation, she quickly understood. “Sister Zhaozhao, can we choose the point in time we travel to?”
Si Zhao shook her head. “No. And once you travel back, you’ll have to decide your own identity.”
“I’ve already tried it. Nothing unexpected will happen. If you want to end the trip early, you can simply apply to return to the Federation through your optical computer.”
“Yangyang, do you want to give it a try?”
Yunyang nodded vigorously. “Yes!”
How could she pass up the chance to travel freely through time and space?
Yunyang immediately began the journey with her ten beastmen husbands.
No matter how many years in the past they traveled, females held an exalted status throughout the Federation, so there was no need to worry about their identities.
As for food, clothing, housing, and transportation, they could bring a spatial bracelet with them, so there was nothing to worry about there, either.
Once seated inside the time-travel machine, Yunyang closed her eyes, filled with anticipation.
A mechanical female voice sounded beside her ear. “Terminal connection successful. Inspection complete. Time travel commencing.”
“Ten, nine, eight…”
A wave of dizziness engulfed Yunyang. Remembering Si Zhao’s instructions, she kept her eyes shut and merely tightened her grip on Fu Shiyi’s hand as he reached out to her.
The dizziness finally faded when the countdown ended.
Yunyang slowly opened her eyes. After confirming that all ten of her beastmen husbands were with her, she opened her optical computer to check the date.
The optical computer was linked to the time-travel machine, and the date was supposed to update automatically once the journey was complete.
However, when Yunyang opened it, she saw a line of crimson text instead:
[Warning! Prehistoric civilization detected. Exact time cannot be determined!]
What did “prehistoric civilization” mean?
Had they traveled to the interstellar age before the Federation was established?
Yunyang turned to look at her ten beastmen husbands, only to find them staring blankly at their surroundings.
She blinked, then followed their gazes.
Only then did she realize that they had somehow been surrounded.
The ten beastmen husbands now stood protectively around her, warily studying the people surrounding them.
The moment they opened their eyes, they had found themselves encircled by these strangers.
The strangers all shared the same hair and eye color, as well as similar complexions. They appeared to belong to the same beastman race.
What was strange was that Yunyang’s husbands could not discern their beast forms.
Over the past year, they had worked tirelessly to improve their abilities. Even the youngest, Rong Jin, had now become an SSS-rank ability user.
Under such circumstances, unless they were legendary super-3S-rank ability users, it should have been impossible for them to conceal their beast forms.
Yet there had never been an entire race of super-3S-rank ability users in the Federation’s history.
Regardless of what was happening, they absolutely could not allow their female mate to come to any harm.
Yunyang was also studying the people around them. Judging by their appearance, they looked somewhat like the people from Huaxia in her previous life.
Could the Federation’s prehistoric civilization be Earth?
Just as Yunyang was wondering about this, she spotted a large electronic screen behind the crowd. It was displaying an advertisement for a brand she recognized, with a string of numbers in the lower-right corner:
2026.3.12.
Oh no. It really looked like she had traveled to Earth.
And it was one year after her death from overwork in her previous life.
Yunyang roughly understood why there were so many people around them. If she had seen someone appear out of thin air before her eyes, she would have found it strange, too.
But in this situation, could she still return to the Federation?
There were too many people around, so Yunyang did not dare open her optical computer again.
She took a deep breath, stepped out from the protective circle formed by her husbands, and asked the nearest young woman in the language that felt almost engraved in her mind, “Hello. Could you help us contact the police?”
The young woman was still somewhat dazed. Since she had been standing closest to them, she had clearly seen Yunyang and her ten beastmen husbands appear out of thin air.
She was certain that the magic industry had not yet advanced to the point where it could make people vanish and reappear at will, so she had no idea what was going on.
But when she heard Yunyang’s voice and looked at her face, the young woman blushed and nodded.
“Sure.”
After answering, she took out her phone and dialed the number she knew by heart.
She was remarkably trusting. Once the call connected, she simply handed the phone to Yunyang.
Yunyang froze for a moment.
Was this girl not afraid that she would take the phone and run?
As she considered the question, Yunyang glanced at the tightly packed crowd surrounding them and decided that the girl’s confidence made sense.
Those people did not know that her beastmen husbands could fly. In their eyes, there was no way the eleven of them could force their way out.
“Thank you.” Yunyang smiled at the young woman and accepted the phone.
A stern female voice came from the other end. Yunyang briefly explained her situation.
At first, the person on the line assumed she was joking.
But Yunyang’s serious tone made her reconsider. An adult woman probably would not play such a prank on the police, so she eventually reported the matter to her superiors.
The police in A City were highly efficient.
Ten minutes later, Yunyang and her husbands were escorted out and placed in vehicles headed for the local police station.
The beastmen husbands were still confused, but they knew that saying too much would only create more trouble, so they remained silent.
However, when they saw how slowly the cars were moving, Rong Jin could not help murmuring, “Female mate, this mode of transportation is so slow.”
It was not even as fast as he could run in his beast form.
Yunyang fell silent.
How was she supposed to explain this?
Before traveling through time, she had never thought cars were slow.
All Yunyang could do was remain silent.
Fortunately, the cars soon reached their destination.
The eleven of them had been transported in four or five separate cars. Once the other vehicles stopped, Yunyang’s husbands immediately got out and hurried to her side.
Watching how quickly they moved, Li Lin’s eyes widened.
That speed… was it really something a human could possess?
As an outstanding police officer, Li Lin quickly composed herself. She stepped forward with an official smile.
“Comrade Yunyang, were you the one who called the police?”
