After taking two days off, Yunyang started going to the Purification Tower every afternoon to help again.
She hadn’t forgotten to ask Yun Conglan about moving, but Yun Conglan hadn’t replied over the past two days. She hadn’t even looked at the new beastman profiles Yunyang had sent her.
To be honest, it made little difference to Yunyang where she lived.
She had previously turned down the Central Planet Female Protection Association’s invitation simply because she had lived here for so long. With Yun Conglan living right next door, she had grown used to it.
It would only be more convenient to visit Lulu and Sister Zhiwei if she moved to Central Planet.
The beastmen who had reserved appointments online would also be able to arrive more punctually. After all, not every planet had a direct route to Planet X92, but there were certainly direct routes to Central Planet.
There was another reason as well. Thanks to her efforts during this period, the number of highly polluted males at the Purification Tower on Planet X92 had decreased considerably.
Over the past few days, Lao Wei had increased the number of publicly available appointments from twenty-five to thirty, leaving only twenty slots for the males housed inside the Purification Tower.
Planet X92 wasn’t where the greatest concentration of highly polluted males was being held. The number of males being sent there each day could no longer keep up with the speed at which she purified them.
In the entire Federation, only the Purification Tower on Central Planet received a steady stream of males sent there for supervision.
Therefore, moving to Central Planet would be more suitable for her.
But suitability was beside the point. She couldn’t disregard Yun Conglan’s attitude.
She would think about it later.
Yunyang spent every day going back and forth between home and the Purification Tower. This kind of two-point routine easily reminded her of her life as an overworked corporate drone in her previous life.
But in her previous life, she hadn’t had the right to take breaks whenever she wanted. She couldn’t have arrived late or left early based on her mood, let alone worked only one or two hours a day.
All in all, life in the interstellar era was still the best!
Less than two days after returning to Central Planet, all the tokens for this round had been turned over.
Yunyang returned the jade tokens she had confiscated earlier to the six beast husbands, matching each one to its owner, and announced that the next day would be a day off.
The six beast husbands were already used to it.
Leonardo and Chen Yueli were newcomers, and since they hadn’t participated in the previous round of token selection, they still hadn’t been marked.
But when Yunyang said they would be taking a day off, neither of them had any objections.
That afternoon, when Yunyang returned from the Purification Tower, she told all eight of her beast husbands that she wanted hot pot for dinner.
After their previous experience with barbecue, Qin Mo and the others knew that the meat for hot pot also had to be sliced into thin pieces.
Leonardo and Chen Yueli hadn’t been there last time, but watching the six “senior” husbands prepare the ingredients, they were perfectly capable of copying what they saw.
There were two more people in the household now, so they needed even more ingredients than before. On top of that, every ingredient had to be cut into a different shape. It took the eight beast husbands more than an hour to finish preparing everything.
Rong Jin stir-fried the spicy red-oil base under Yunyang’s guidance. Once it was ready, they added hot water and let it boil for a while. Before long, its rich aroma filled the air.
Xuan Yu improvised the clear broth in the other pot. Although it looked bland and flavorless, it carried a special fragrance.
He had also added a tiny amount of dried rosemary to the bottom of the pot. Its distinctive aroma gave the broth a much richer flavor.
Before the hot pot bases had finished boiling, Yunyang went to prepare the dipping sauces.
The beastmen didn’t seem to be very fond of dipping sauce. Afraid that the sauces her husbands prepared wouldn’t suit her taste, Yunyang decided to make her own.
Yunyang wasn’t much of a cook, but she was very good at mixing dipping sauces.
All eight beast husbands watched her attentively.
Fu Shiyi didn’t miss a single detail. Once Yunyang had finished, he followed her proportions exactly and prepared a bowl for himself.
The other beast husbands couldn’t understand why they needed to make extra sauce, but they wanted to do the same as their female master.
Unfortunately, their short-term memories couldn’t compare with that of a designer like Fu Shiyi. Even though they used the exact same ingredients, the sauces they made tasted nothing like Yunyang’s.
Fortunately, they were only making them for themselves.
Once the hot pot bases were ready, the eight beast husbands busied themselves cooking meat and vegetables.
They followed Yunyang’s instructions to the letter: meat went into the spicy red-oil pot, while seafood and vegetables went into the clear broth.
The meat had been sliced very thinly, so it cooked quickly.
The husbands sampled the food first to check whether it was properly cooked, and only then did they serve it to Yunyang.
The others placed the meat directly into Yunyang’s bowl. Fu Shiyi, however, dipped a slice in his own bowl before holding it out to her mouth.
With an earnest expression, he asked, “Female master, try it and see if I mixed the dipping sauce correctly.”
The other seven beast husbands all turned sharply toward him.
That scheming bird was trying to win favor again!
Yunyang had been about to say that there was no such thing as a “correct” dipping sauce—what mattered was whether it suited one’s taste.
But then she remembered that the beastmen had probably never tried this kind of sauce before, so she swallowed the words and opened her mouth to eat the slice of meat Fu Shiyi offered her.
After just one bite, she realized that Fu Shiyi had definitely mixed his sauce according to hers.
Yunyang chewed and swallowed, then nodded. “It’s delicious.”
The corners of Fu Shiyi’s lips lifted slightly. “That’s because you taught me well, female master.”
“What a sweet talker. I’ll reward you with a piece of meat.”
Although she hadn’t actually taught him anything, Yunyang accepted his praise without the slightest trace of guilt. She picked up a piece of meat from the pot and placed it in Fu Shiyi’s bowl.
The other beast husbands stared at the meat in Fu Shiyi’s bowl with envy. Soon, they were all asking Yunyang to teach them as well.
In the end, all eight beast husbands received meat placed in their bowls by Yunyang.
They had only wanted the same treatment; they hadn’t actually expected Yunyang to keep serving them throughout the meal. After that, the eight husbands took responsibility for picking out meat and vegetables while Yunyang watched videos and ate.
Before the meal, Yunyang had already instructed the robot butler to activate the air-circulation system. By the time they finished eating hot pot, only a few of them had picked up a slight hot-pot smell on their clothes.
After dinner, Yunyang assigned three robot butlers to clean up the mess and then took all eight beast husbands outside for a walk.
Today, she wanted to stroll around outside the residential district, so she made her way slowly toward the main gate.
Unexpectedly, just after she led her husbands out through the gate, several unwelcome visitors approached them head-on.
When he saw one of them—a familiar face—Qin Mo’s brows drew together. He immediately remembered the things this man had said before.
His gaze turned cold, but when he noticed the female beside the man, he quickly reined it in somewhat.
The female’s eyes settled on Yunyang, filled with apology. “Yunyang.”
Yunyang was silent for a moment before calling out, “Auntie Wei.”
The female before her was none other than Wei Yashi, her mother Yun Conglan’s childhood friend.
Behind Wei Yashi stood several of her beast husbands. On her right was Weizhuo, the crooked-necked tree Yunyang hadn’t seen in a very long time.
Not long after Yunyang had been found to possess S-rank mental power, Weizhuo had come looking for her and said that he wanted to form a bond with her again.
At the time, Yunyang had been disgusted beyond belief. She had gone straight back to the villa and wanted the robot butler to teach that crooked-necked tree a lesson.
After she left, Weizhuo had been beaten up by Qin Mo. Yunyang hadn’t seen him since.
Several months had passed since then.
Wei Yashi glared at Weizhuo.
He immediately stepped forward and knelt directly in front of Yunyang.
The moment he did so, Yunyang retreated straight into the arms of her own beast husband.
Fuyuan, who was closest, instinctively shielded her.
Qin Mo looked at Wei Yashi. “Lady Wei, what are you trying to do?”
