"Dad, just let Mom go see him so she can have peace of mind."
Seeing Xu Yueyun like this, Lin Zhilan knew that even if she told her Su Lang was fine, she would still be half-skeptical.
Rather than letting her live in fear, it was better to let her see Su Lang directly.
Su Bingcheng sighed and agreed.
Xu Yueyun was helped into the living room, only then noticing the injuries on Lin Zhilan. She nervously grabbed her hand and asked, "What happened to you? How did you get hurt like this?"
Lin Zhilan touched the scratches on her neck. "It's nothing, just a minor injury."
Su Bingcheng said, "Our daughter-in-law went and got into a fight with the person who deliberately came to provoke you today."
"You child," Xu Yueyun said, both anxious and heartbroken. "Porcelain shouldn't clash with tiles, and those with precious lives should yield. Why did you go and get into a fight?"
"I just couldn't swallow my anger," Lin Zhilan wrinkled her nose. "If I didn't vent this frustration, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night."
Xu Yueyun felt helpless. "Did you apply medicine to it?"
"I did, Mom. Please don't worry."
Xu Yueyun sighed. That family was connected to Lin Zhilan's former in-laws, so she couldn't really say much more.
Lin Zhilan accompanied her parents-in-law as they slowly walked to the hospital.
Seeing her, Qin Qing and Lin Zijun immediately walked over.
"Master, Regiment Commander Su has been transferred..." Qin Qing frowned. "What happened to the injuries on your body?"
Lin Zhilan had fair skin, so after the medicine was applied, those purple marks looked even more shocking.
The nail scratches running from her chin down to her collarbone were especially conspicuous.
Lin Zhilan looked down at herself, suddenly thought of something, and looked up at Qin Qing. "Qin Qing, take my parents in to see Su Lang. I have something to deal with, so I won't go in just yet."
Qin Qing paused for a moment, then understood her intention, and led Xu Yueyun and Su Bingcheng into the ward.
The ward was very quiet.
Su Lang lay on the hospital bed, looking considerably thinner than before.
His facial features were naturally prominent, but now, with his sunken cheeks, he truly looked like skin and bones.
The moment Xu Yueyun saw her son like this, her tears couldn't stop falling.
Su Bingcheng's eyes also turned red. He placed a hand on Xu Yueyun's shoulder and patted it gently twice.
As if sensing something, Su Lang's eyelids twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Seeing his parents standing by his bed with red eyes, his heart skipped a beat. "Dad, Mom, why are you here?"
"We came to see you. How are you feeling now?"
Su Lang forced a smile and endured the pain, saying, "I'm alright. I'm perfectly fine, aren't I? Please stop crying."
Xu Yueyun sniffled, turned her head, and wiped her tears dry with a handkerchief. "I won't cry. I feel relieved just seeing you."
Su Lang swept his gaze across the ward but didn't see Lin Zhilan.
"Dad, Mom, you guys came, but where is Zhilan?"
Xu Yueyun subconsciously glanced toward the door and answered somewhat vaguely, "Zhilan... is busy right now. She'll come in a bit later."
Su Lang immediately frowned.
Staring at his mother's expression, his voice grew urgent. "Did something happen to Zhilan?"
Saying that, he tried to prop himself up on his arms to sit up.
But his body was covered in injuries. With just a slight movement, he groaned in pain, and a layer of fine sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
Su Bingcheng hurriedly stepped forward and held down his shoulders. "Don't move, just lie down properly!"
Hearing the commotion inside, Lin Zhilan couldn't stand outside any longer.
She pushed the door open and walked in. "I'm right here. Nothing happened."
Seeing her enter, Su Lang first breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, his gaze fell on her, and his frown deepened.
"Come here," Su Lang said in a deep voice.
Lin Zhilan pursed her lips and took two steps forward.
"Come closer."
"Alright, alright," Lin Zhilan pretended to be impatient as she stood by the bed. "Is this good enough?"
Su Lang raised his hand and pushed up her sleeve.
The black and blue bruises running from her wrist to her elbow were shocking to see.
Su Lang stared at those injuries, his lips pressed into a thin line.
Xu Yueyun looked at her son and daughter-in-law, gently patted Su Bingcheng's arm, and gave him a meaningful look.
Su Bingcheng understood and helped his wife slowly walk out of the room.
The door to the ward was closed securely.
"Who did this?" Su Lang frowned deeply.
"Looking the way you do now, are you still planning to avenge me?"
"Zhilan!" Su Lang's voice darkened.
Meeting his gaze, Lin Zhilan knew she couldn't brush it off.
She sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. "Fine, fine, I'll tell you. Just don't get worked up."
Su Lang didn't speak; he only looked at her.
"Song Fang and her mother-in-law went to find Mom and told her about your injuries. Mom was so anxious and angry that she had a heart attack."
Lin Zhilan placed her hand over his. "But don't worry, she's fine now. Mom took her medicine, and as you just saw, she's in good spirits."
Su Lang naturally grasped her hand. "Then what about the injuries on your body?"
Lin Zhilan lifted her chin slightly. "I was furious, so I went and got into a fight with that pair of women."
"But I didn't lose out," Lin Zhilan added. "They were hurt much worse than I was. Plus, that Zhou Jianjun tried to talk nonsense to me, so I gave him a slap across the face too."
Lin Zhilan admitted that the slap was a bit out of line.
However, Linlin's ordeal in the book, along with Song Fang's current hostility toward her, were all caused by this man.
Even if Zhou Jianjun genuinely liked the original owner of her body, it only brought terrible luck to both the original owner and Linlin.
Hearing Zhou Jianjun's name, a dark glint flashed in Su Lang's eyes.
He gently stroked the injuries on Lin Zhilan's hand. "Does it hurt?"
"No, I already put medicine on it. It just looks scary."
Seeing that his face was still dark, Lin Zhilan changed the subject. "I just remembered. Right after your surgery, you wrote the character 'Zhou' in the palm of my hand. What did that mean?"
Su Lang's gaze faltered slightly, and his fingers paused on the back of her hand.
"Did I?" He lowered his eyes, his tone flat. "Maybe I was delirious from the illness. I don't remember anything."
"Regiment Commander Su," the corners of Lin Zhilan's lips curled up slightly. "When you were delirious, you didn't write my name, you didn't write our child's name, but you wrote Zhou Chen's name?"
Su Lang didn't reply, as if deliberately avoiding the topic.
If a person could survive, they wouldn't want to play the saint.
Lin Zhilan stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled. She pulled her hand out of his grasp and crossed her arms over her chest. "Fine, I get it now. Zhou Chen is the most important person in your heart, right?"
Su Lang's brows twitched.
"Zhilan, don't joke around with me."
"Alright then, you rest here. I'm leaving." Lin Zhilan stood up, pretending to walk away.
"Zhilan."
Su Lang grabbed her wrist without using much force.
But remembering his injuries, Lin Zhilan couldn't bear to shake him off.
Seeing that she had stopped, Su Lang remained silent for a few seconds. "Sit down first, I will tell you."
