After much deliberation, Zhu Fu curled her lips into a smile and began typing furiously...
Fortune God's Only Daughter: "Ohoho, so y’all are backing down now, huh? Weren’t you all so tough earlier? Call me ‘Sis Fortune’ first!"
Ruan Shizi: "Pfft, as if! A fortune mutt will always be a fortune mutt! You’ll never be ‘Sis Fortune’! Get lost!"
First-Gen Pure Love Warrior: "Damn, I thought I could hold back, but nope—fortune mutt! My eternal nemesis!"
Heartbroken Kitten: "Shamelessness knows no bounds!"
Qi Xu was stunned. Bian was equally dumbfounded.
Without any outside interference, the chat hall exploded with 3,000 messages in just five minutes, courtesy of the remaining members of the Zuan district. The insults flew fast and furious, and Zhu Fu’s combat skills hadn’t dulled one bit.
She single-handedly held her own against an entire district, not losing ground at all, breaking one opponent after another. As for why everyone had started arguing in the first place... well, they’d all forgotten.
Qi Xu tried to mediate at one point, but even though his messages were bolded and gold-highlighted with a special identifier...
A flash of light swept through—no one noticed. Everyone was too busy hurling insults.
Grumbling, Qi Xu closed the chat hall. No point ruining the kids’ fun. Let them keep Zhu Fu entertained—they had their own rhythm.
He pulled up the light-screen vehicle interface, and an upgrade notification popped up instantly:
[Player Invincible Black Whirlwind, Level 7 vehicle upgrade conditions met. Proceed with upgrade? Upgrade will take 24 hours. Please plan accordingly!]
Qi Xu was shocked. Twenty-four hours?!
After snapping out of it, he used a high-speed fuel pack, blasting through 500 km in an hour to finish his daily mileage. Then he hit the upgrade button without hesitation.
A thrill of excitement ran through him—he’d never experienced a Level 7 vehicle in the last round of the game.
But once the excitement faded, boredom set in.
Stuck in one place for 24 hours? Might as well deal with the assassins first. After all, he had to revoke Xie Shaoning’s kill order within three days.
To revoke it, though, he’d need to become a member of the Assassin’s Guild. If not for his connection with the big black snake, Qi Xu wouldn’t have dared sign that contract.
Once he was done killing, he’d have Bian come over to help with the fragment loot boxes. A perfect plan.
He sent a message to the big black snake: "My vehicle’s upgrading, so I’m stuck here with nothing to do. Send a couple assassins to play with me."
"Oh, and install these lights in your little hut. That luminous pearl of yours is fancy, but the lighting’s kinda weak. Let’s spruce the place up a bit—make it brighter for future customers."
Opening loot boxes daily meant he ended up with all sorts of weird knickknacks. Not everything was useful, but with so many friends, someone always had a use for them.
He handed freshly harvested bananas to the worker monkey, gifted Taotao a heart-shaped necklace, gave the little gnome a box of egg tarts, and tossed a red bowtie to the little hedgehog. Easy favors, no hassle.
The big black snake shot up at the sound of the notification, eagerly reading every word before wriggling excitedly.
"Got it! Thank you! The assassins are on their way to kill you now. Be ready! (✿◠‿◠)"
Invincible Black Whirlwind: "Sweet. I’ll hit you up later. I wanna take out all eight remaining assassins within 24 hours."
"No problem! I’ve already lined them up, ready to die at your convenience!"
Qi Xu sent a few thumbs-up stickers. "You’re the best, buddy!"
After sending the message, Qi Xu grabbed Sakura Drop, suited up in rain gear with Little Seven, and stepped out of the vehicle to wait.
The big black snake worked fast—movement rustled on both sides as soon as they were ready.
Qi Xu and Little Seven adjusted their positions, charging left and right.
Little Seven knew he couldn’t beat the assassin outright, so his job was to keep it distracted and away from his master.
Most importantly, he couldn’t get hurt—otherwise, his master would worry.
So he launched himself like a grenade, lifting a hind leg to pee on the assassin’s head mid-flight...
Once he’d successfully drawn all the assassin’s "aggro," Little Seven started leading it away, employing a "dog-walking" tactic—
You chase, I run. You retreat, I pounce!
Qi Xu saw Little Seven’s strategy and shouted praise mid-fight, "That’s my boy! Keep it up! You’re amazing!"
Pumped up by the praise, Little Seven’s brain went into overdrive—sticking out his tongue, wiggling his butt, treating the assassin like a joke.
When the assassin finally lost its cool, forgetting its real target and focusing solely on killing this infuriating dog, Little Seven had already achieved his goal. He bolted, leading the assassin on a wild chase.
Having fought assassins before, Qi Xu handled this one with much more ease.
He tried creating distance, using his gun to finish the fight. Even with his combat mastery, he wasn’t infallible.
After ten minutes of intense back-and-forth, he finally took the assassin down and rushed to help Little Seven. The poor pup was panting heavily, tongue lolling.
But he wasn’t hurt—mission accomplished! Major progress!
Qi Xu took a stealth shot. The assassin, still fixated on chasing Little Seven, reacted quickly—the bullet only grazed its shoulder, sending straw flying.
Little Seven immediately turned and pounced. Qi Xu followed up with a slash, aiming not for the neck but the injured right arm. The assassin didn’t block, just charged blindly.
It didn’t fear injury, but Qi Xu did. He dodged, creating space, then spun and fired. Why stick to melee when you’ve got a gun?
This shot hit true—the assassin’s head exploded into a shower of straw.
The big black snake’s congratulatory message arrived the moment the payment cleared.
"Impressive! Wanna keep going? I’ll send two more?"
Qi Xu sucked in a sharp breath and replied, "Uh, not that eager. Gonna take a breather..."
"Sure thing! (◕‿◕)"
