Qi Xu originally planned to go alone to unpack all the supply crates, but Little Seven, seeing that it wasn’t hot outside anymore, insisted on getting out to pee.
Qi Xu then asked Sweet Girl, who also wanted to go, since they’d been here for three days without even stepping out of the vehicle.
So he agreed—being cooped up in the car for so long was unbearable anyway.
He decided to take both of them along.
He wrapped Sweet Girl around his wrist, while Little Seven needed no supervision, already sprinting out wildly, circling the vehicle in excitement.
"Be careful, don’t go beyond the 8-meter—"
Before Qi Xu could finish, Little Seven lost control and dashed past the safe zone.
Qi Xu’s heart leaped, and he rushed forward, but the wolf-like creatures lurking in the dark seemed to have received a signal—several instantly swarmed in, their roars shaking the air.
Little Seven immediately realized his mistake. Before even landing, he tried to turn back, but the wolf monsters were too fast. The leading one even unleashed a vine-like tendril, tripping Little Seven mid-stride!
Before the creature could attack again, Qi Xu arrived, swinging his chainsaw horizontally. The vine, along with the wolf’s belly, split open instantly.
He quickly yanked Little Seven back to safety.
Then, without pause, he swung the chainsaw in the opposite direction—but the wolf on this side stood frozen, as if stunned.
Only after beheading it did Qi Xu realize…
Sweet Girl had bitten its leg and immediately retreated, already coiled back around his pant leg.
Outside, the remaining wolves relentlessly battered the protective barrier, howling furiously, the noise unbearable.
Qi Xu, eager to discipline the troublemaker, glared back and hacked a few more times with the chainsaw, killing two more wolves before silence returned.
Suddenly, a realization struck him.
The reason they avoided these monsters at night was simply lack of strength.
But if they were strong enough… wouldn’t nighttime become an ideal training ground? Unlimited sparring partners, plus the freedom to retreat whenever they wanted.
Still, now wasn’t the time to dwell on it. Qi Xu first gave Sweet Girl a firm thumbs-up. "Sweet Girl, you’re amazing! Extra treats later!"
Sweet Girl didn’t respond, but her body wriggled into a series of delighted squiggles—clearly thrilled.
Little Seven, meanwhile, looked utterly dejected.
Qi Xu shot him a stern glare. "Tell me yourself—was that dangerous or not?"
"Woof… I messed up…"
Qi Xu had intended to scold him harshly, to drill the lesson into his head and prevent future recklessness.
But the moment the pup apologized, his resolve softened.
He picked Little Seven up again. "Don’t do it again, okay?"
Seeing his owner wasn’t truly angry, Little Seven instantly bared his teeth in a goofy grin, tail wagging like a propeller—
Qi Xu promptly added, "No big bone for you tonight!"
Little Seven’s joy evaporated as if struck by lightning, his spirits crashing.
But he didn’t protest. He’d really screwed up—and if his mistake had endangered Qi Xu, it would’ve been far worse.
Meanwhile, Qi Xu fed Sweet Girl a pet nutrient potion—rewards and punishments had to be clear.
Sweet Girl shuddered as she drank it, her energy surging straight to Level 2. But after a careful inspection, Qi Xu noticed her size hadn’t changed at all—no growth, no shrinkage.
No new abilities either, though her combat power rose by 3 points.
Little Seven watched enviously but didn’t dare make a sound.
Over the past three days, both pets had consumed daily evolution potions—Little Seven was now Level 4, and Sweet Girl had reached Level 2.
These potions were easily their favorite treats.
Qi Xu wanted Little Seven to learn his lesson and grow stronger fast—otherwise, he’d always be in danger. Unless, of course, he gave up being a combat pet and stayed in the vehicle.
But that wasn’t in his nature, so Qi Xu had no choice but to be strict.
In the last three days, they’d collected 23 crates. The number of supply crates had noticeably dwindled, so Qi Xu hadn’t bothered opening them the past two days, saving them for a bulk session.
But the quality had improved.
Since leveling up, Qi Xu hadn’t encountered a single wooden crate in three days. Out of the 23 crates, only four were bronze.
Most were silver, with a few gold—and this afternoon, they’d even scored a diamond crate.
Qi Xu pried open several crates with his knife tip. Only one released a monster—a weak, green-furred creature.
He let Little Seven and Sweet Girl team up to practice.
Eager to redeem himself after his earlier blunder, Little Seven pounced fiercely, pinning the green-furred monster with his powerful front paws before sinking his teeth into its neck—ending the fight instantly.
Then he turned to Qi Xu with expectant eyes. Qi Xu sighed—this pup’s craving for praise was intense.
Still, he obliged. "Not bad! Starting to look like a real fighter!"
Originally, Qi Xu had intended to summon another monster for the two little ones to practice on, but who would’ve thought that out of 21 boxes, only one monster appeared?
Qi Xu suspected someone had used a Blessing Card on him—how else could his luck be this good? Just when he wanted monsters to show up, they suddenly stopped coming!
But it didn’t seem worth it to open more monster boxes just for this, so he shifted his gaze back to the horde of creatures beyond the 8-meter barrier...
Qi Xu cautiously took a step outside. In less than three seconds, dozens of wolf monsters came charging at him—far more effective than when Little Seven had dashed out earlier.
With nerves of steel, Qi Xu didn’t even think about fighting back. The moment the wolf monsters lunged, he leaped back inside the 8-meter barrier.
He watched helplessly as the pack of wolves slammed into the barrier with loud thuds.
Then, he began observing the wolf monsters up close, even calling out his two pets to join in for a lesson.
"Look, this one’s a Steelclaw Wolf—sharp claws, fast movement speed, and those golden edges on its claws. Usually, Steelclaws lead the charge, so be careful if it gets close.
"The one behind it, the one so angry its mouth is spitting fire? That’s a Flarefang Wolf. It can spit fireballs and specializes in long-range attacks. So we need to close the distance and take it out first—priority target."
The wolf monsters were dumbfounded. A little respect, please?
Discussing how to kill them right in front of their faces? Wasn’t that going too far? Their roars grew even fiercer in outrage...
But no amount of roaring helped. In the end, they had no choice but to scatter, unwilling to stay and be used as teaching props.
Qi Xu hadn’t even finished explaining all the types to the two little ones yet! So he stepped out again, luring another group over.
This cycle repeated well into the night, until Little Seven and Sweet Girl could recognize every single type of wolf monster!
