“So, you’re saying you didn’t invite these people, right?” Jiang Youli asked Zhou Zerui, even though she already knew the answer.
“Of course not!” Zhou Zerui exclaimed. “I heard the doorbell and thought it was you, President Jiang, so I opened the door right away. Who knew these people would suddenly barge in?”
“Oh~” After hearing Zhou Zerui’s explanation, Jiang Youli turned her gaze to Long Yuan. “Long Yuan, barging into someone else’s home without an invitation is trespassing. If you don’t want us to call the police, then get lost.”
“Get lost?”
Long Yuan’s expression darkened instantly.
Wu Kai, standing beside him, immediately jumped in to back him up. “How dare you speak to Young Master Long like that!”
Jiang Youli didn’t even bother to take Wu Kai seriously. She merely gave him a cool glance, then crooked her finger at him provocatively.
“Oh, you didn’t hear me clearly? Then come over here. I’ll demonstrate exactly how I was speaking to Long Yuan.”
“Jiang Youli, right? I’ve heard of you. You’re nothing more than a woman who got engaged to the eldest young master of the Qi family. But even Young Master Qi has to show Young Master Long some respect and wouldn’t dare speak to him like that. Who do you think you are, ordering Young Master Long to get lost?” Wu Kai shouted with his neck stiff, glancing at Qi Huan, who was sitting in a wheelchair. Yet he still didn’t dare take a single step forward.
If the eldest young master of the Qi family hadn’t been there, he wouldn’t have been afraid of Jiang Youli at all. He would have gone straight up and slapped her twice!
But now that Qi Huan’s legs were crippled and it was still uncertain whether he could become the Qi family’s heir, it was clearly safer to side with Young Master Long.
He had already displeased Young Master Long by backing down earlier, so he had to make up for it now!
“Oh? Is that so?” Jiang Youli lowered her head and looked at Qi Huan with an eager-to-learn expression. “Huanhuan, are you afraid to speak to Long Yuan like that?”
Qi Huan smiled faintly. “Not at all. Long Yuan never gives me the chance to speak to him. Whenever I appear somewhere, he avoids me. After all, everyone knows that as long as I’m there, he’ll always be second.”
Wu Kai: “…”
Long Yuan’s expression turned grim. It was as if an oppressive gloom had settled around him. At last, he spoke, his voice carrying tightly restrained anger.
“Qi Huan, that’s all in the past. I admit that you were capable back then, which was why you always overshadowed me and stole the limelight wherever we went. But look at yourself now. In order to cure your legs, you actually picked some random woman to marry. You even obey her every word. You’re a complete laughingstock in high society!”
In the face of Long Yuan’s ridicule, Qi Huan merely smiled. There wasn’t the slightest trace of displeasure in his expression. Instead, he looked confident and at ease.
“Are you jealous that I found such an outstanding wife—one whom I can obey without the slightest concern?”
Long Yuan’s expression grew even uglier, his eyes filled with contempt and disdain.
“A man who obeys a woman’s every word is nothing but a good-for-nothing! If you don’t find it embarrassing, then so be it. Then again, you’re practically half a cripple now. If bowing and scraping to a woman can buy you a chance at having your legs cured, what’s a little humiliation to you?”
Qi Huan, however, remained completely unmoved. His tone was still light and relaxed.
“Long Yuan, have you spent so long being trampled beneath my feet that you’ve suffered too much and developed a stress response? I don’t feel humiliated in the slightest. On the contrary, after meeting Little Li’er and getting engaged to her, I feel happier than I ever have before.”
Long Yuan: “…”
He hated that calm, unruffled look Qi Huan always wore!
“All right, Huanhuan. Don’t waste your breath on him. What would a man who has no one to love know?” Jiang Youli said mockingly.
Then she continued driving them out without the slightest mercy. “I already told you that you’re not welcome here, so get lost.”
Wu Kai clearly had no intention of leaving so easily. He planted his hands on his hips and shouted as though he had thrown caution to the wind, “We’re not leaving! What are you going to do about it—”
Before he could finish, a sharp pain shot through his neck, as if something had stabbed him.
He didn’t even have time to react. His entire body began convulsing like he had been electrocuted, and then he collapsed helplessly to the floor, frothing at the mouth. He looked utterly miserable.
Long Yuan immediately recognized the symptoms. They were exactly the same as what he had seen at the Jiang residence before!
Jiang Youli really was just as sinister as ever!
Jiang Youli casually rubbed the fingertips that held a silver needle. “Long Yuan, if you don’t leave now, you might end up twitching just like that dog beside you.”
Her voice was calm, but carried a clear threat. “I wouldn’t mind recording a video and uploading it online so you can become famous all over again.”
At her words, Long Yuan’s expression turned rather ugly. He glanced at Wu Kai lying on the floor, then at Jiang Youli. In the end, he decided to turn around and leave with his bodyguards.
“Hey, Long Yuan! Aren’t you taking this dog with you?” Jiang Youli called loudly at his retreating back.
Long Yuan didn’t respond. He simply strode down the stairs and left without looking back.
Zhou Zerui stared at the man still convulsing on the floor in astonishment. “What happened to Wu Kai?”
Jiang Youli walked over and kicked Wu Kai between the legs.
The pain was so intense that Wu Kai rolled his eyes back and passed out on the spot.
“It’s nothing. He won’t die.” Jiang Youli withdrew her foot. “But he often uses his position as a director to try to force female stars into sleeping with him. If they refuse, he threatens to blacklist them. Since he can’t control his lower half, I’ll just make sure it’s useless forever.”
As she spoke, she sent the silver needle in her hand flying toward his groin. It pierced through his trousers and went straight into the lump of flesh beneath them.
Zhou Zerui seemed to understand exactly what Jiang Youli had done to Wu Kai. Instead of feeling frightened, he said indignantly, “He deserves it!”
“All right, Zhou Zerui. Where’s Uncle Ya? Take me to him so I can treat him,” Jiang Youli asked.
At once, Zhou Zerui pointed toward a room on the right. “Uncle Ya is lying inside. This way, President Jiang.”
He spoke rapidly, seemingly unable to wait another moment. As soon as he finished, he strode toward the room.
Qi Huan’s gaze remained fixed on Zhou Zerui. Seeing his anxious back, he felt a surge of indescribable excitement well up inside him.
When Long Yuan had been there, Qi Huan had still managed to maintain some semblance of composure. But now, he could no longer suppress his emotions.
“Little Li’er, I have a feeling he really is my biological younger brother.” Qi Huan’s voice trembled slightly, and his eyes shone with anticipation.
Jiang Youli comforted him, saying, “Huanhuan, don’t be anxious. We’ll know very soon.”
She gently patted Qi Huan’s shoulder, then pushed his wheelchair and followed Zhou Zerui into the room.
Qi Huan’s hand clenched tightly around his thigh. Yes, they would soon know whether Zhou Zerui was truly his younger brother.
