Chairman Yu was looking at the information brought by his son. After finishing reading, he recalled what Long Yuan had said just now. Obviously, his daughter had mentioned the matter of choosing the male lead to Long Yuan, which had annoyed him!
Perhaps, as his son Yu Hongtu had guessed, Long Yuan was unhappy that his daughter Yu Linglong had actively recommended the male lead to co - star with her.
So, no matter from which aspect, Zhou Zerui really couldn't be chosen anymore.
Chairman Yu immediately made a decision. "Okay, just do as you suggest. Choose Yang Yufan as the male lead for our Dafeng Entertainment's new drama 'Rising to the Top'. Then you arrange the marketing department to release the news. Xingguang Entertainment hasn't announced the male lead yet. We can promote our drama ahead of them again."
Having received his father's approval, Yu Hongtu said eagerly, "Okay, I'll go and arrange it right away!"
After leaving the chairman's office, Yu Hongtu contacted Director Zhang Bufan and told him, "Director Zhang, my dad has decided to choose Yang Yufan as the male lead."
"Great," said Director Zhang Bufan without any objection.
Although he felt that Yang Yufan's acting was a bit too skill - based at present, while Zhou Zerui's acting was more vivid, Zhou Zerui had too many negative news.
If he were really chosen as the male lead, it might cause a whole - network rejection.
"Then I'll inform Yang Yufan and follow up on the contract later," Director Zhang said.
"Okay." After giving instructions to Director Zhang, Yu Hongtu went to the marketing department manager. "The casting of 'The Ambition in the Clouds' has attracted a lot of attention. Many fans are waiting for the official news of the main cast members. However, the casting list of 'The Ambition in the Clouds' hasn't been announced yet. If our Dafeng Entertainment's original new drama 'Rising to the Top' announces the lead actor's name first, it will surely grab a wave of popularity."
The marketing department manager replied, "I understand, Young President Yu."
Yu Hongtu specifically emphasized, "You should also understand that this drama is my first project since I joined the company. I must win beautifully for my dad to see."
The marketing department manager said confidently, "Don't worry, Young President Yu. Dafeng Entertainment is an established company. Our marketing ability is much stronger than that new company Xingguang Entertainment! We'll definitely make any marketing of Xingguang Entertainment have no impact online."
Yu Hongtu was very satisfied. This Jiang Youli had been making a lot of noise in the Beijing social circle recently and had even offended Young Master Long.
In fact, wasn't it because she was engaged to Young Master Qi that she dared to be so arrogant?
He would like to see in person if this Jiang Youli really had any skills.
He also wanted to perform well in front of Young Master Long this time. After he successfully inherited the company, he could get the strong support of the Long family.
...
In an old and shabby residential area, a young man was changing the intravenous drip for a middle - aged man who was in a coma in bed.
At this time, the phone on the bedside table rang.
Zhou Zerui finished changing the drip first, then sat down beside the bed, picked up the phone and answered it.
"Zhou Zerui, you've been rejected again. You didn't pass the audition for the male lead of 'Dafeng Entertainment'," said the voice on the other end of the phone.
Hearing this news, Zhou Zerui lowered his eyes, and his eyelashes trembled.
He had thought that the opportunity had finally come.
Who would have thought that he was still rejected.
"Sister Li, can you try to fight for me again? I really need money now..."
On the other side, his agent, Sister Li, said helplessly, "I really can't do anything. It's your bad temper that has offended so many people in the entertainment circle. There are hardly any directors willing to ask you to act in their plays.
"Originally, Director Zhang Bufan didn't mind the fact that you had beaten up a director before and was going to give you a chance, but the chairman of Dafeng Entertainment didn't agree. It's probably unlikely for you to continue in the entertainment circle. I suggest you quit the circle."
After saying that, the agent was about to hang up the phone.
"Wait," Zhou Zerui said. "Do you have Director Liang's phone number?"
Sister Li didn't expect him to say this. She was stunned first, and then said in disbelief, "Director Liang? Director Liang Shenggui, who has returned to the industry to direct the drama 'The Ambition in the Clouds'?"
Zhou Zerui gave a hum of affirmation.
"Do you want to audition for a role in 'The Ambition in the Clouds'?" the agent was surprised and then advised, "Don't take it the wrong way, Zhou Zerui. You failed the audition for the male lead of 'Rising to the Top' of Dafeng Entertainment, and now you want to audition for 'The Ambition in the Clouds'. Everyone in the circle knows that Dafeng Entertainment is going to suppress Xingguang Entertainment. Do you think Xingguang Entertainment will take you?"
"Take my advice and quit the circle. This circle is not suitable for you. It's hard for people from humble backgrounds to make it big these days, and the entertainment circle is the same. Without a backer, it's impossible for a commoner to succeed."
Finally, as if she didn't care anymore, she said, "Well, I do have Director Liang's contact information. I'll send it to you later. You can give it a try."
"Xingguang Entertainment is going against Dafeng Entertainment now. Maybe President Jiang will deliberately go against Dafeng Entertainment and choose you just because you were rejected by them."
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Zerui received the phone number sent by Sister Li and immediately dialed it.
Soon, the phone was answered, and a man's voice came through.
"Hello."
"Is this Director Liang?" Zhou Zerui stood up and walked to the window.
"Who is this?" the other end asked in confusion.
Zhou Zerui nervously grabbed the window ledge and said, "I'm Zhou Zerui. I want to audition for the male villain in 'The Ambition in the Clouds'."
The other end was surprised. "Zhou Zerui? Didn't you go to audition for the male lead of 'Rising to the Top'? Why are you coming to me?"
"Dafeng Entertainment didn't choose me," Zhou Zerui's voice was a bit hoarse.
Hearing this, Liang Shenggui was silent for a moment.
After a while, he said, "In these years, although I haven't been in the circle, I've watched your plays. You have a lot of talent. Personally, I appreciate you very much. But you went to audition for 'Rising to the Top' before. Our President Jiang won't tolerate any shady things. She may not choose you."
Although Girl Li had said that he could decide the casting from then on, Zhou Zerui was not like Chen Wang, and he couldn't vouch for his character.
So, he still had to consult Girl Li's opinion.
However, before that, Director Liang Shenggui still gave Zhou Zerui a chance. "Send me your information later and come for the audition tomorrow. If I'm satisfied, I'll apply to President Jiang for you!"
Zhou Zerui said, "Okay, thank you, Director Liang."
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Zerui looked at the still - comatose middle - aged man on the bed.
"Uncle, I'll definitely earn enough money to find a doctor who can wake you up."
...
In the evening, Jiang Youli finished her work. She was about to pack up her desk and go home when she received a call from Yu Linglong.
She put her bag on the table and answered the phone.
"Miss Jiang, I'm not sure if it's useful, but I think I should tell you. I heard Long Yuan talking to a woman called Auntie Ya on the phone at noon. He seemed very excited, as if there was something that made him very happy."
Hearing the address "Auntie Ya", Jiang Youli was taken aback. She felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, as if she had heard a similar address somewhere before.
