Ye Yunche had decided to stop liking Zhu Liuyue.
So he planned to return to the arms of his “wife.”
That was racing.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go very smoothly at the racing club today. Someone had crashed right at the beginning, and the injuries looked serious.
Ye Yunche could only hurry to the hospital with a group of his brothers to get the injured man emergency treatment.
Outside the emergency room, the brothers waited.
Ye Yunche wandered aimlessly up and down the corridor by himself.
Thinking back to the sight of that guy being dragged out of the cockpit with blood all over his head, Ye Yunche didn’t find it frightening. He just thought about what would happen if he were the one injured.
His big brother would probably be sitting in his office, tapping away at his keyboard. Then, as he continued typing, his head would hurt so badly that he’d practically shut down.
The thought was rather amusing.
Still, Ye Yunche didn’t dare.
Nor did he want to get hurt.
Although he loved racing, he had his limits in every competition. He would never put his life at risk.
And he certainly wouldn’t drive recklessly like that lunatic Zhu Liuyue had last time, as if she didn’t care whether she lived or died!
Huh?
Hadn’t he already decided not to like Zhu Liuyue anymore?
Why was he thinking about her again?
How annoying.
As Ye Yunche wandered around, he suddenly found himself outside another department. In the distance, a woman wearing a mask and a white coat pushed open the door and stepped out.
Their eyes met.
Ye Yunche felt a little guilty. He instinctively turned around and was about to run.
Zhu Liuyue’s voice drifted over, neither loud nor soft.
“Why are you running? I’m not going to tattle to your big brother.”
Ye Yunche slowly turned back around.
He knew that the Zhu family’s corporation was huge and that its influence covered nearly every part of the city’s medical industry. But he hadn’t expected Zhu Liuyue to actually have a job. She wasn’t just an idle rich young lady after all.
As he thought this, his gaze fell on her.
Unlike her usually dazzling everyday outfits, Zhu Liuyue was barefaced today. Her long black hair was twisted up neatly, giving her a clean, elegant beauty.
She wore a white coat over her clothes and a pair of flat white sneakers.
Apart from that beautiful face of hers, she looked no different from any other doctor one might see in a hospital.
Ye Yunche asked an obvious question.
“You’re working?”
Zhu Liuyue nodded. “Yes.”
Her gaze passed over him and landed on the emergency room in the distance.
“Did something happen?”
Ye Yunche scratched his head awkwardly and explained, “It’s actually not that bad. That idiot was taking a hairpin turn for the first time, and he got too bold. He didn’t slow down because he wanted to win…”
His voice grew quieter and quieter.
That brother of his was actually one of Zhu Liuyue’s fans.
After watching the recording of her race last time, he had been determined to recreate his goddess’s maneuver.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t replicate it. Instead, he sent himself straight to the hospital.
The corners of Zhu Liuyue’s lips lifted as she crooked a finger at him.
“Huh?”
Ye Yunche froze. What did that mean?
Still, he obediently walked over.
“Turn around once,” Zhu Liuyue said.
Ye Yunche obediently spun around once in front of her.
Zhu Liuyue nodded in satisfaction.
“Very good. You’re not hurt.”
Only then did Ye Yunche understand what she had been doing.
She had been checking him?
“I’m obviously not hurt!” Ye Yunche snapped, somewhat flustered. Then he added, “Don’t think that just because you’re engaged to my big brother, you can order me around. You don’t need to worry about my business.”
Seeing how unusually defensive he was, Zhu Liuyue understood perfectly well what was going on.
Her tone remained unhurried.
“Do you still hate me that much?” she asked.
Ye Yunche stubbornly refused to back down.
Besides, he had just suffered a setback, and he cared deeply about his pride. Gritting his teeth, he replied, “Of course!”
Zhu Liuyue sighed softly.
“What a shame,” she said regretfully. “I rather like you. I thought we could get along peacefully.”
The expression on Ye Yunche’s face brightened instantly.
“Ah, you like me… Wh-what?”
There was even a hint of anticipation in his voice.
“Be obedient,” Zhu Liuyue said.
Ye Yunche was completely stunned.
Had he heard her wrong?
Everyone knew that Second Young Master Ye was the most rebellious person around! He had been a little devil ever since he was young!
Compared with his orderly, rule-abiding older brother, Ye Yunche would do anything his brother couldn’t—or wouldn’t—do, and he would do it with all the enthusiasm he could muster!
Be obedient?
That word had absolutely nothing to do with him.
While they were talking, the emergency room door opened, and the group of brothers hurried over.
The guy who had originally been covered in blood had already received treatment. His head was wrapped up like a rice dumpling, but his eyes were still sharp.
From a distance, he spotted Ye Yunche and Zhu Liuyue talking.
With an excited cry, he jogged over.
The men behind him were so nervous they nearly stopped breathing.
“You’re already fine?” Ye Yunche greeted him.
But that brother couldn’t be bothered to answer. His eyes shone as he stared at Zhu Liuyue, his voice filled with excitement.
“Goddess! I finally get to see you in person! That race of yours against Zhao Wen was absolutely incredible!”
“I never imagined you were a doctor. What a pity! It’s all their fault. If I’d known, they should have taken me to your department…”
His face was filled with the excitement and helplessness of someone meeting his idol.
Ye Yunche rubbed his forehead helplessly, feeling utterly embarrassed.
Zhu Liuyue’s tone remained calm.
“I’m a surgeon, and I don’t work in the emergency department. Even if you came to my department, I wouldn’t be able to treat you.”
She even thoughtfully reminded him, “By the way, did they check you for a concussion?”
The man’s eyes lit up as he nodded vigorously.
“They did! They did! It’s only a mild concussion!”
He looked so excited that anyone who didn’t know better might have thought a concussion was something to celebrate.
Ye Yunche really couldn’t stand watching anymore, so he quickly grabbed the man and dragged him away.
The guy still refused to leave, muttering as he was pulled along, “Brother Yunche, what are you doing? I haven’t finished talking to my goddess yet… Hey, hey, stop dragging me!”
After dealing with his troublesome brother, Ye Yunche turned around to look for Zhu Liuyue.
A young nurse reminded him, “Doctor Zhu just finished her shift. Did you need something? If it’s urgent, I can help you call her.”
Ye Yunche froze.
Then he waved his hands quickly. “N-no, it’s nothing.”
He had already decided not to like Zhu Liuyue anymore.
Why would he look for her?
At most, after seeing how embarrassing his brother had been, he had only wanted to tell her, “That guy’s just a little stupid. I’m not like that, so don’t get the wrong idea.”
What else could there be?
She liked his big brother.
Ye Yunche, don’t make a fool of yourself by chasing after her!
Damn it!
Ye Yunche lowered his head and walked distractedly toward the parking lot. As he walked, he suddenly bumped into something.
The other person let out a soft cry and fell to the ground.
When he looked up, he realized who it was.
Why was it Bai Shurou?
“You—you—you… are you all right?”
Bai Shurou had come to the hospital for a follow-up examination. It was only after she reached the parking lot that she remembered her car had been pawned by her brother, Bai Shucheng, the day before.
She had been preparing to walk back to the main road and hail a taxi when she saw Ye Yunche, head lowered, walking straight into her.
She instinctively braced herself with one hand when she fell.
Her wrist hurt from the impact, and part of the skin on her palm had been scraped raw. It burned painfully.
“Hiss… I’m fine.” Bai Shurou forced back her tears and shook her head through gritted teeth.
Ye Yunche wasn’t blind. He had clearly seen the injury on her hand, as well as the sharp gasp she had just let out.
He might have been careless and impulsive, but he still had a sense of responsibility.
“Why don’t you get up? This is a hospital anyway. I’ll go inside with you and have them take a look.”
