He Qiuyun was pursuing Ji Zhaoxi, and everyone could tell.
Whenever there was food, He Qiuyun would let Ji Zhaoxi eat first, and whenever there was anything good, he would let her have the first pick.
Ji Zhaoxi's reputation in the building began to sour again.
But Ji Zhaoxi didn't care. Reputation was an illusion, but food and weapons were real.
He Qiuyun knew Ji Zhaoxi was a very conservative girl, so even though she was unwilling to hold his hand, he didn't mind.
Once they got married in the future, they would be able to be together happily.
He Qiuyun suddenly felt somewhat grateful that Ming Fei had died so timely. He had to thank Ming Fei for delivering Zhaoxi to his side.
Those with superpowers were, after all, a minority. Ordinary people had limited access to resources, so they often sold their bodies for meager supplies.
He Qiuyun was sitting on his bed when Da Laocu suddenly carried a person in. He hurriedly stripped off the person's clothes, and before long, the room was filled with an ambiguous atmosphere.
Da Laocu panted heavily, "Half a loaf of bread, as agreed."
The person beneath him pinched him, "It was clearly one whole loaf!"
Da Laocu laughed and went to kiss them, "I'm just joking with you, look how anxious you got."
The privileged always liked to make jokes that manipulated ordinary people.
This kind of scene was far too common in the apocalypse, so He Qiuyun didn't take it to heart.
A long time passed before the noise over there finally stopped. Da Laocu threw the bread onto the person, who joyfully grabbed it, quickly put their clothes on, and ran off.
Da Laocu looked across at He Qiuyun and yawned, "How far along are you with that little white flower?"
He Qiuyun frowned, "We're not like you."
Da Laocu sneered, "Not like me? What's the difference?"
"I saw her reject you last time you tried to hold her hand. You're a man, how can you be this pathetic."
He Qiuyun's expression darkened, "I am respecting her. When she wants to hold hands, we naturally will."
Da Laocu lay on the bed, his tone full of mockery, "Does she not want to hold hands, or does she just not want to hold hands with you?"
"Don't forget, there was Ming Fei before you. She did everything she was supposed to do with Ming Fei, yet she isn't even willing to hold your hand. The fact that you can endure this, you really are quite the man."
He Qiuyun clenched his fists tightly and coldly dropped a sentence, "This has nothing to do with you."
The door slammed shut with a bang.
Da Laocu closed his eyes, and soon after, snoring sounds could be heard.
Ji Zhaoxi had just come out of a room after finishing a healing session. She froze for a moment when she saw He Qiuyun at the door.
He Qiuyun looked at her, his eyes somewhat different from usual.
Ji Zhaoxi grew a bit wary, "What's wrong, Qiuyun?"
He Qiuyun was silent for a moment, "Zhaoxi, can I give you a hug?"
Ji Zhaoxi refused without a second thought, "No, this is moving too fast."
He Qiuyun looked deeply at her, "Is it fast? Da Laocu met someone this morning, and by tonight they were already lying in the same bed."
Ji Zhaoxi held her breath and lowered her voice, "Qiuyun, if you're envious, you can go lie down with them."
"Zhaoxi!" He Qiuyun hadn't expected Ji Zhaoxi to say such a thing, and his expression turned ugly.
He composed his expression and looked up, "Zhaoxi, I liked you way before Ming Fei did. I was just too cowardly back then, which let Ming Fei get there first. If I had been a bit braver then, we would have been together a long time ago."
His eyes were a bit red. It was all because of his cowardice that they had missed out on so much time.
"Zhaoxi, it's just a hug. Da Laocu was mocking me just now, Zhaoxi..." He Qiuyun's eyes were filled with pleading.
Ji Zhaoxi's eyes reddened, her face full of disappointment, "I originally thought you were different from the others, but I didn't expect you to all be the same. He Qiuyun, you really disappoint me."
He Qiuyun's face paled, "Zhaoxi, I just wanted a hug, I didn't mean anything else."
Why was she not even willing to do this?
With all the things he had given her, he could have found countless other people.
Looking at Ji Zhaoxi's wary eyes, his heart ached as if being cut by a knife.
"Zhaoxi, I..."
"Excuse me."
The corridor wasn't wide to begin with. Pei Yufeng clearly could have turned sideways to pass, but he insisted on walking straight through, directly bumping into Ji Zhaoxi and forcing her to step back a few paces.
Ji Zhaoxi: ...
"Zhaoxi..." He Qiuyun ignored Pei Yufeng and wanted to continue talking to Ji Zhaoxi.
Ji Zhaoxi suddenly shoved Pei Yufeng aside and ran ahead of him.
Pei Yufeng hadn't been on guard at all. Pushed off balance by her, he stumbled directly into the doorframe behind him.
Pei Yufeng froze for a moment.
What was going on? Even a fluttering moth knew how to fight back now?
He Qiuyun stood in place, his eyes downcast, not knowing what he was thinking about.
The next day, He Qiuyun stayed by Ji Zhaoxi's side just like usual, but Ji Zhaoxi completely ignored him. She clung either to Yan Jiasui or Wen Ruixin.
"Zhaoxi, do you still want to eat canned food? I'll go get it for you." He Qiuyun forced a smile at Ji Zhaoxi.
Ji Zhaoxi didn't answer him, keeping her head down and doing her own things.
No matter what he said, Ji Zhaoxi pretended not to hear.
She would isolate herself from any factors that made her feel in danger.
The others were just watching the show from the sidelines.
Nearby, Da Laocu also watched this scene with amusement. This He Qiuyun, when it came to chasing women, he still couldn't compare to him.
He had already told him that this method of pursuing wouldn't work, yet he insisted on harping on about respect.
"He Qiuyun, come here!" Da Laocu waved at him.
He Qiuyun glanced at Ji Zhaoxi and walked over.
Da Laocu whispered something in his ear. The expression on He Qiuyun's face turned complicated, and after a short while, he left.
In the afternoon, He Qiuyun walked in holding someone's hand. Everyone else was very surprised, their gazes all landing on Ji Zhaoxi.
Ji Zhaoxi had no reaction at all.
A flash of anger crossed He Qiuyun's face. Did it mean that no matter what he did, she wouldn't care?
So, under everyone's watchful eyes, He Qiuyun led that person into a room by the hand. Before long, continuous sounds came from the room.
Da Laocu observed Ji Zhaoxi's expression. She was earnestly scrubbing a stain on her little white dress, not caring in the slightest.
Da Laocu: ...
This Ji Zhaoxi truly did not like He Qiuyun.
Yan Jiasui frowned as she watched this scene.
The private lives of the team members were naturally not her concern, but doing this in broad daylight had too bad of an influence.
Could these men really not control themselves?
"When He Qiuyun comes out, tell him to come see me," Yan Jiasui suddenly spoke up.
Da Laocu froze for a second, then quickly nodded.
