Lu Group Headquarters
Lu Huaiyu was listening to Assistant Zhao and the secretarial team give their reports, a signature pen spinning continuously between his fingers.
“Boss, the other major families in M Country have already seized the opportunity to snatch several projects that originally belonged to S.D.”
“S.D has suffered heavy losses, and the board members are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with Yisen.”
“Those members of the Yisen family who have been waiting for him to step down are also doing everything they can to make trouble for him.”
“The scandals involving S.D that we exposed last night are beginning to cause a major public outcry in their home country. Shareholders are starting to lose confidence in S.D’s credibility.”
“Since the market opened this morning, S.D’s share price has continued to fall. The venture capital department is keeping a close eye on S.D’s stock, just as you instructed.”
The pen in Lu Huaiyu’s hand never stopped turning. “Then keep fanning the flames. It’s time for us to make use of public opinion.”
“If they want to seize the Haicheng market, they should first see whether they still have the strength to do so after being besieged from all sides.”
“What about Le Yuan?”
Assistant Zhao continued reporting on the current situation while holding his tablet. “At present, Mr. Xie’s stake in Le Yuan has exceeded seventy-one percent. Le Yuan is now completely within his grasp.”
“Leno Capital is also being suppressed by his overseas companies to the point where it can barely breathe. It no longer poses any threat to Le Yuan.”
“S.D is already struggling to survive, so Leno Capital has effectively become a discarded pawn. It probably won’t be long before Mr. Xie absorbs Leno Capital in its entirety.”
Lu Huaiyu nodded to show that he understood, then had him continue with an update on Su Xiaoye.
“The lawyer representing Classmate Su has filed a lawsuit against Shi Jiahui in accordance with her wishes. The evidence that she fabricated an adoption certificate to defraud compensation is conclusive. She won’t be able to escape punishment.”
“However, the matter of Su Yue’er exchanging Classmate Su for resources back then was conducted privately with Mr. Zeng and the others, without any written record of the transaction.”
“Furthermore, all the relevant parties have already been imprisoned, so there’s no way to bring a lawsuit against Su Yue’er as well.”
It was only when he heard that Su Xiaoye intended to sue Shi Jiahui that Lu Huaiyu stopped spinning his pen. He promptly sent a message to Xie Tangning to inform her of the matter.
Assistant Zhao thought for a moment before adding, “That said, when Su Yue’er first entered the industry, she also participated in a great many money-laundering operations involving well-known directors and investors.”
“Based on that alone, it wouldn’t be impossible to send her to prison.”
“However, it would implicate a great many people, so dealing with it could be rather troublesome.”
The criminal activities of those people in the industry had only come to light later, when Lu Huaiyu conducted an in-depth investigation into Su Yue’er.
They did have evidence, but the people involved had powerful backgrounds. After all, Lu Huaiyu was only a businessman, and handling the matter himself would inevitably be troublesome.
Lu Huaiyu smiled without the slightest hesitation. “Give Ms. Qiu a call. We’re concerned citizens, after all.”
“When we encounter illegal and criminal activities, we ought to report them to the relevant authorities!”
Ms. Qiu worked for the Haicheng authorities and held an important position. She had always been incorruptible and impartial, and was deeply respected by the public.
Assistant Zhao knew his boss’s ruthless side all too well. Su Yue’er had repeatedly made sarcastic insinuations about his younger sister and brother on television.
No matter how troublesome it was, Lu Huaiyu would send her to prison.
His greatest talent lay in using legitimate and reasonable means to make sure his targets ended up with nowhere to hide and no grounds for complaint.
“Understood, Boss!”
Assistant Zhao swiftly swiped across the tablet several times before placing it in front of Lu Huaiyu.
“There’s one more matter of the utmost importance. After Li Boyan’s former company was investigated and a number of senior executives were imprisoned, they stubbornly insisted that Li Boyan had not participated in any of it.”
“But today, they all changed their stories at once and pointed the finger at Li Boyan, claiming that he had also been involved in all the disgraceful things they did back then.”
“Li Boyan was taken away for questioning this morning. Employees at the Xie family villa secretly photographed him being taken away and posted the pictures online.”
“It’s already trending. The only question is whether Director Zhang’s show will be affected. Do we need to step in and protect it?”
Assistant Zhao knew very well that Director Zhang’s program still had one episode left to record, and that the show involved the family’s two young masters.
Lu Huaiyu looked at the image of Li Boyan being taken away on the tablet, deep in thought.
It seemed that the so-called power of the plot had completely disappeared. The people who had once been influenced by Li Boyan’s halo were now all turning against him.
That was the best proof.
Lu Huaiyu had always had people keeping an eye on Li Boyan. Now that the influence of the plot was gone, the legal experts in the company’s legal department would probably be delighted to make trouble for him.
There was no need to worry about Li Boyan for the time being, so he only addressed the matter concerning the show.
“There’s no need to interfere with the program. Director Zhang is an old fox. He prepared for the possibility of guests being exposed a long time ago, so he doesn’t need our protection.”
“As for the post-production editing, he has plenty of experience.”
At this, Assistant Zhao couldn’t help chuckling. Director Zhang’s program was truly one of a kind, and quite a few guests had suffered public downfalls on the show in the past.
The show had already exposed more than enough celebrities with legal scandals. Director Zhang certainly had plenty of experience.
After thinking for a moment, Lu Huaiyu added, “Give him another investment as well. The production team has suffered so much undeserved backlash because of this. We should at least compensate them.”
“Include Wu Weixiang’s group of guests too. They were dragged into this and have endured abuse for quite some time.”
“Let him choose from any of the entertainment resources under our company. He’s a respected veteran in the industry, and he’s quite an interesting person. His reputation is good as well.”
Lu Huaiyu genuinely admired Wu Weixiang’s way of handling things. His opinion had nothing to do with the friendship between Wu Dacheng and his younger sister.
Wu Weixiang was simply capable.
The members of the secretarial team carefully recorded each of Lu Huaiyu’s decisions and began preparing a proposal to contact Wu Weixiang’s team.
After Assistant Zhao finished his report, another member of the secretarial team began reporting on the situation in Huacheng.
“According to the feedback from the Huacheng branch, there has indeed been a forced encroachment on the market and a number of projects have been maliciously intercepted.”
“Several local companies whose businesses overlap with S.D’s have already been acquired. These companies aren’t particularly large.”
“However, the production lines owned by these companies are all above the industry average.”
“Mr. Chen and Mr. Xie both believe that, while S.D is currently too preoccupied to look after itself, it would be best for Lu Group and the Xie family to acquire them.”
S.D’s objective was simple enough: they wanted to acquire local businesses in Huacheng.
They intended to use these local companies to disguise their own brand, allowing them to whitewash their products and successfully enter the Chinese market.
Because of S.D’s dismissive remarks about China in its early days, it would be almost impossible for the company to enter the Chinese market under its own brand.
