Not Close in Public, Preparing for Pregnancy in Private, Pampered with Affection Every Night

Chapter 409

The one-month-old baby had been lying peacefully in his crib when Baby Boy, who was three, picked him up.

The baby lay across Baby Boy’s short little legs.

Baby Boy gazed at him, utterly smitten. Puckering his rosy lips, he kissed the baby’s chubby cheek with a loud smack.

“Be good, little brother. Listen to your big brother, and I’ll buy you candy.”

After saying that, he puckered up again and planted another noisy kiss on the baby’s other cheek.

Poor little baby—both cheeks were covered in Baby Boy’s drool.

Just as Baby Boy lowered his head to shower the baby’s face with more saliva, his little face scrunched up and he sniffed hard.

“Why does something smell bad?”

He followed the scent down from the baby’s face. “Neck doesn’t stink. Tummy doesn’t stink. Little pee-pee doesn’t stink. Little legs don’t stink.”

Baby Boy turned the baby over and sniffed his bottom hard.

“Blech! It stinks!”

He pulled open the baby’s diaper and took a look. “Little brother, you pooped! You’ve turned from a sweet-smelling baby into a stinky baby!”

“It stinks, it stinks! Such a huge pile of poop—ugh!”

Unable to stand the smell, Baby Boy grabbed one of the baby’s legs and tossed him aside, headfirst.

That was the scene everyone walked in on.

A group of adults rushed over in a panic to catch him.

Fu Xiaochen’s cousin was the fastest. He caught his newborn son in one swift motion.

Still shaken to the core and no longer caring whether the child heard him, he blurted out, “Damn it! My newborn son almost got dropped on his head and turned brain-damaged!”

Baby Boy looked at the panicked crowd, blinking his large, grape-like eyes. “Grandpa, Grandma, uncles, aunties, brothers, sisters—what are you all panicking for?”

Grandpa Fu said, “I’m not just panicking. I want to give you a spanking!”

“Why do you want to spank me? I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Fu Xiaochen grabbed him by the back of the neck from behind and hauled him away.

“Hey! Who’s grabbed me by the scruff of my destiny?”

Once they were out of the living room, Fu Xiaochen casually set him down on the floor.

“From now on, stay away from your little brother. Unless there’s a bad guy around, you are the biggest threat to your brother’s safety!”

Baby Boy sat on the floor, kicking his legs wildly. “You’re accusing me unfairly! Daddy, you’re mean!”

Hearing his cries, the nanny hurried over. “I only went to the bathroom for a moment, young master. What did you do this time?”

Fu Xiaochen replied, “Nothing too serious. He just nearly killed someone.”

He was so little—who could he possibly have nearly killed? The nanny looked toward the one-month-old baby and immediately understood. She quickly carried Baby Boy away.

The room finally quieted down. Fu Xiaochen’s cousin held his child and walked over to Qin Yuhe and Song Xinya.

“Isn’t my son adorable?”

Qin Yuhe said, “He takes after your wife, so naturally he’s adorable.”

The other man clicked his tongue. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Qin Yuhe replied, “If he took after you, how could he possibly be adorable?”

“Hey—you’re saying I’m ugly in a roundabout way, aren’t you?”

Song Xinya hurriedly smoothed things over for Qin Yuhe. “If he took after you, he wouldn’t be adorable. He’d be especially handsome.”

That immediately made the man happy.

He carried the baby over to Song Xinya. “Look—aren’t babies adorable? Fair and chubby, all round and soft, like a little glutinous rice ball.”

Song Xinya looked at the fair, tender little baby, her eyes softening. “So cute.”

The other man said, “There’s a big difference between looking at someone else’s child and looking at your own. Other people’s children are simply adorable, but when it’s your own child, you don’t just think they’re cute—you want to cherish them with all your heart.”

He glanced at Song Xinya and Qin Yuhe. “You two should hurry up and have one too. With looks like yours, your child would definitely be gorgeous.”

Song Xinya said nothing.

Qin Yuhe said, “Don’t worry about our affairs. Have you forgotten? Your son just pooped, and you still haven’t changed his diaper.”

The man suddenly remembered. “Oh, damn! My son’s butt is still covered in poop!”

While the man rushed off to change the diaper, Qin Yuhe took Song Xinya away.

The banquet had not yet begun, so he brought her to a quiet corner of the dining area.

Qin Yuhe selected some food, arranged it on a plate, and handed it to Song Xinya. “It’s bound to get crowded soon. We’ve seen the baby, so let’s eat before the banquet starts. Once we’re done, we’ll leave.”

Song Xinya did not want to stay any longer, either.

As long as they remained here, the conversation would inevitably turn to children.

Holding her plate, she lowered her head and ate slowly.

Qin Yuhe asked, “What would you like to drink?”

“Orange juice,” Song Xinya said.

There were cans of orange juice on the table, but Qin Yuhe did not give her one. Instead, he found fresh oranges and a juicer, then made her a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Holding the glass in his hand, he brought it to Song Xinya’s lips and fed her.

At the entrance to the dining area, Zhang Yingying witnessed the scene.

The Fu family had welcomed another grandson. A new addition to the family, a joyful occasion, and a flourishing lineage—the major families of the capital’s elite circle had all been invited.

Before Zhang Yingying arrived, she had known she would see Qin Yuhe.

The moment she entered the Fu residence, she began searching everywhere for him.

After looking through each area, she finally spotted Qin Yuhe in the dining area, feeding Song Xinya orange juice.

The envy in Zhang Yingying’s eyes was practically overflowing.

How could Qin Yuhe and Song Xinya still be so affectionate?

How could Qin Yuhe and Song Xinya still be so affectionate?!

Hadn’t Qin Yuhe seen Song Xinya’s medical report?

Zhang Yingying’s eyes suddenly lit up. Song Xinya must have lied to Qin Yuhe!

A prestigious family like the Qins measured their wealth in the hundreds of millions. For an old, influential clan that had endured for generations, nothing mattered more than carrying on the family line.

If Qin Yuhe had seen the medical report stating that Song Xinya could not have children, how could he possibly still want her?

Of course he would divorce Song Xinya!

So the only reason Qin Yuhe and Song Xinya were still acting so lovey-dovey was because he did not know the truth.

A smile curled across Zhang Yingying’s lips.

In the dining area, Song Xinya and Qin Yuhe finished their meal.

Qin Yuhe pulled out a tissue and gently wiped the corner of Song Xinya’s mouth.

“I’ll go speak with Grandma. I’ll tell her there’s an urgent matter at the company and that we need to leave first.”

Song Xinya agreed and obediently sat there to wait for him.

As Qin Yuhe left the restaurant and passed the outdoor swimming pool, Zhang Yingying—who had been lying in wait for him—approached him head-on.

“Hello, President Qin.”

Qin Yuhe kept his gaze straight ahead, without so much as looking at her, and continued walking.

He passed by her without pausing for even a moment.

Unwilling to let it go, Zhang Yingying turned and stared at his retreating figure. “President Qin, I want to tell you something about Song Xinya.”

What good could possibly come out of her mouth?

She was only trying to stir up trouble.

Qin Yuhe did not slow down.

Growing frantic, Zhang Yingying shouted after him, “President Qin, do you know? Song Xinya can’t have children!”

Qin Yuhe stopped.

A smug smile spread across Zhang Yingying’s face.

“President Qin, when you and Song Xinya went to the hospital for your checkups, I happened to run into her. Since she’s my older sister, and I was concerned about her, I asked the doctor about her condition. Song Xinya can’t have children.”

Qin Yuhe walked toward her, one step at a time. His footsteps were cold and sharp, echoing through the deep night.

Zhang Yingying looked at his strikingly beautiful face, her gaze expectant.

She pressed on, trying to provoke him.

“President Qin, Song Xinya deliberately deceived you.”

“President Qin, don’t you hate being lied to more than anything?”

“President Qin, your grandfather’s line has passed down through three generations with only one heir each. If you have no children, the Qin family line will end. Carrying on the family name is such an important matter to your family, yet Song Xinya knew that and still lied to you. You treat her so well, and she deceives you like this—she’s utterly heartless and selfish!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Qin Yuhe came to a stop beside her.

“Zhang Yingying, do you know why I stopped and came over to listen to all this?”

Zhang Yingying’s eyes gleamed triumphantly. “Because you want to know the truth.”

Qin Yuhe said, “No. I came over because I want to do something to you…”

Excitement flashed in Zhang Yingying’s eyes. “What?”

In the bitter cold of midwinter, Qin Yuhe raised his leg and kicked her straight into the swimming pool!

Zhang Yingying’s scream was swallowed by the icy water.

She thought Qin Yuhe did not know the truth. But in fact—

That night, when Qin Yuhe had asked Song Xinya about her medical examination results, she had said, “No… no problems.”

The moment she hesitated, he knew she was lying.

His mind was razor-sharp, his nature meticulous.

No one in this world could deceive him—unless he allowed it.

He would not expose her.

He was willing to let her deceive him.
