Watching the car disappear into the distance, Wang Hao silently thought to himself.
It’s okay, it’s okay. Wang Keke was about to start elementary school, and she needed a household registration to enroll. Wang Keke was Lin Wanyi’s whole life.
It wouldn’t be long before Lin Wanyi would have to come back and beg him.
Otherwise, how would her precious little girl go to school?
So Wang Hao wasn’t in a hurry at all.
When Lin Wanyi came groveling to him, he would crush her dignity under his feet.
She would have to kneel before him and serve him.
He even had a vicious thought—he wanted Lin Wanyi to video call Liu Renzhi while it happened.
He wanted Liu Renzhi to watch, clearly and intently.
Lin Wanyi was his woman.
She was a cheap woman he had used.
Thinking about all this, he stopped being angry.
But he had no idea that Liu Renzhi had already found a school for Wang Keke.
The best school possible, and a household registration wasn’t needed at all.
All it took was money and connections.
It was the first time Lin Wanyi sat in the back seat alone with Liu Renzhi.
She asked him where they were going.
He took her to a shopping mall:
“I think my mom must be upset these past couple of days. Huang Chunlian showing up definitely bothered her.
“I plan to buy her two handbags. You can help me pick them out.”
Lin Wanyi felt uneasy:
“You should take Siyue for this. I don’t know anything about luxury brands.”
Liu Renzhi pulled her head into his arms and played with her hair:
“That’s exactly why—you don’t know, so this is a chance to learn.
“Once you’ve seen enough, you’ll understand. But really, it’s simple—just pick the most expensive ones.”
They went to the priciest boutique.
Liu Renzhi pointed at the brands and told Lin Wanyi one by one:
“Just remember these logos, then grab the most expensive ones.”
Lin Wanyi made a mental note.
She knew this was homework she had to do; otherwise, she would embarrass Liu Renzhi in the future.
In the end, she picked out two bags for Su Jing, each costing 250,000 yuan.
But when it came time to pay, Liu Renzhi covered three bags instead.
The extra one was his gift to Lin Wanyi.
“That’s too expensive,” she said.
To her, it really was. Her previous bags cost a maximum of 200 yuan.
Now, one bag was 250,000 yuan.
She felt uneasy carrying it.
But Liu Renzhi wouldn’t take no for an answer, adding:
“I’ll have someone send you some new clothes soon—for you, Keke, and Auntie too.
“But Wanyi, have you thought about moving?”
“Huh? Moving?”
Lin Wanyi asked instinctively,
“Move where?”
She only had a few hundred thousand yuan left, barely enough for a secondhand apartment.
She had thought about it, though. She couldn’t keep living at her mom’s—she needed to move out with Keke.
She had looked at many places but hadn’t found anything suitable.
Liu Renzhi hinted,
“Move into my villa. The one we stayed in together last time.”
The moment he mentioned it, Lin Wanyi’s face turned red.
She immediately refused: “No, I’m not moving.”
He didn’t push her and continued,
“Actually, Siyue also bought you an apartment across from Jiajun’s place. You could move there instead.
“But it’s up to you—you can live wherever you like.
“What I want to make clear is, no matter where you live, you can bring Auntie and Keke.
“They’re your mother and daughter; I’m not going to split you up.”
Lin Wanyi hadn’t expected that Liu Siyue had actually gone through with buying that apartment.
She felt bad about it.
But she didn’t say anything. When she got home, Chen Hui saw Lin Wanyi’s bag and exclaimed,
“Oh my god, big sister, a 250,000-yuan bag!
“Brother Liu is just too generous. Let me hold it and see how it feels.”
Lin Wanyi handed it to her:
“If you like it, take it. I’m not really interested in bags anyway.”
Chen Hui quickly waved her hands:
“No way! If Brother Liu found out, he’d be furious. That’s a gift for you.
“Big sister, I’m just a tiny bit jealous, that’s all.
“But, can I ask you a favor?”
“A favor?”
Lin Wanyi asked, “What’s so serious that you need to beg me?”
Chen Hui hugged Lin Wanyi’s arm and acted spoiled:
“Big sister, from now on, your clothes are going to be totally different.
“Promise me, when you buy new clothes, don’t go to anyone else—come to me, okay?
“With you and Siyue as my big clients, I wouldn’t have to worry about my monthly targets.”
Lin Wanyi thought it was something major and chuckled. She nodded,
“That goes without saying. Hui, you can rest easy.”
Lin Wanyi put the bag in the closet and asked Chen Hui,
“Oh, about the summer vacation trip I mentioned earlier—have you and Jiajun decided where to go?”
Chen Hui immediately replied,
“Not yet. But I casually mentioned it to Siyue the other day, and she said she wanted to come too.
“We haven’t settled on a place, though. Let me ask her.”
She immediately texted Liu Siyue.
When Liu Siyue saw the message, Liu Renzhi had just gotten home.
She held up her phone and asked him,
“Brother, Wanyi’s whole family is going on a vacation, and I want to go too. Where do you think we should go?
“Somewhere cool and comfortable.”
Liu Renzhi remembered the last time Liu Siyue had gone on a trip alone and gotten into trouble.
So instinctively, he said,
“Safe—it has to be somewhere safe.”
He regretted it the moment the words left his mouth; he’d spoken too fast.
Sure enough, Liu Siyue’s thoughts went there too.
She lowered her head, her mood suddenly dropping.
Liu Renzhi patted her head:
“I’ll arrange it. How about our family’s resort?
“It’s cool there, very safe, with a great environment, fresh air, a children’s playground, and hot springs.
“It’ll be really pleasant.”
Liu Siyue nodded: “Okay. I’ll tell Hui right away and see what they think.”
Liu Renzhi then asked her,
“Is Mom in her room?”
Liu Siyue noticed the two shopping bags in his hand.
She gasped,
“Brother, you bought bags for Mom? Two of them?
“Wait, is one of them for me?”
Liu Renzhi tapped her nose:
“No, both are for Mom. If you want one, I’ll take you shopping tomorrow.”
Liu Siyue pretended to be angry as she took the shopping bags from him:
“Come on, Mom’s in her room. She hasn’t come out all day.”
When Liu Siyue knocked and entered, Su Jing was still lying in bed.
She looked listless.
Liu Siyue presented the two bags to her:
“Mom, look! Brother bought these for you—two of them!
“He’s so unfair. I thought one might be mine, but nope, both are yours.”
Su Jing was genuinely pleased to see the gifts.
She sat up in bed and asked Liu Renzhi,
“You already gave me a birthday present yesterday. Why spend more today?”
He didn’t explain too much:
“I passed by the mall and thought these bags looked pretty, so I got them for you.
“Oh, and I bought one for Wanyi too.”
Liu Siyue pretended to be hurt:
“Brother, you really don’t love me anymore. You buy for Mom and for Wanyi, but nothing for me.”
A warm feeling spread through Su Jing’s heart. She understood Liu Renzhi’s intentions.
She knew he was trying to put her at ease.
The gloom that had been weighing on her instantly lifted.
She got out of bed:
“Come on, let’s go eat. You’ve had a long day.”
