Liu Renzhi's mind was a mess.
He looked into Liu Siyue's eyes in astonishment.
"Siyue, are you telling the truth? Are you really dating Qin Chao?
"Do you know what kind of person he is?"
Liu Siyue looked even more confused.
"Of course I know. Didn't I tell you? Aside from his family's financial situation not being great, there's absolutely nothing wrong with him.
"Brother, you're not looking at him through colored glasses, are you? You wouldn't look down on his family, right?"
After calming Liu Siyue down, Liu Renzhi immediately went to find Su Jing and Liu Jiannan.
"What?"
They had the exact same reaction as Liu Renzhi.
"How is that possible? He almost caused Yueyue to jump off a building last time. How could she possibly still be his girlfriend?
"No, there is something very wrong with this."
Su Jing paced back and forth anxiously.
"Did he threaten Yueyue with something?"
Liu Renzhi thought for a moment.
"But judging from Yueyue's expression, she is completely willing.
"She was so earnest and eager when introducing Qin Chao."
"Then why on earth is this happening?"
Su Jing couldn't understand it. Just a few days ago, she had seen Liu Siyue in absolute agony over Qin Chao.
She refused to believe that Liu Siyue could have forgotten so quickly.
She went to Liu Siyue's room and asked her cautiously,
"Yueyue, has that Qin Chao ever done anything to wrong you?"
"Mom, what are you talking about?"
Liu Siyue quickly retorted, "He wanted to come visit our family before the New Year, but I didn't agree.
"I wanted to wait until after the holidays."
The more Su Jing listened, the more wrong things felt. She continued to probe.
"Then did you guys stay in touch during the New Year?"
"Of course we did."
Liu Siyue didn't hesitate at all.
"He sent me messages every day, and he even invited me to go play at his house.
"But I felt like I hadn't told you guys about him yet, so I didn't go.
"Mom, why are you asking all this?"
Su Jing's heart rapidly sank.
She helped Liu Siyue change her clothes.
"Come on, go out with Mom for a bit. Mom isn't feeling well and needs to see a doctor."
She took Liu Siyue to a psychiatrist.
Half an hour later, the psychiatrist spoke very solemnly to Su Jing and Liu Renzhi.
"Has she suffered some kind of trauma again recently?"
Liu Renzhi thought hard, and so did Su Jing.
Both of them shook their heads. "No, she's been very normal these past few days.
"Doctor, what exactly is wrong with her? It's like she completely forgot that someone hurt her."
The doctor told them,
"This is a stress-induced defense mechanism. She has selectively forgotten the things that caused her pain.
"She only remembers the happy things."
"Really?"
Su Jing asked.
The doctor answered with certainty, "Yes, there's no mistake."
For a moment, Su Jing wept tears of joy. She said,
"That's a good thing, a good thing. It's better to forget those things.
"It's better if she forgets it all, so she won't be in so much pain."
But Liu Renzhi's fingers trembled.
Su Jing was overjoyed the entire way home. She thought to herself that now that Liu Siyue had forgotten those things, she would go back to how she used to be.
She would still be that bright and lively daughter.
She wouldn't have recurring nightmares anymore, and she wouldn't shed tears day after day.
Even more importantly, she wouldn't be anorexic, throwing up whatever she ate.
Good, this was very good.
But Liu Renzhi knocked on her door.
"Mom, Dad, it's a good thing that Yueyue forgot all of that, but she also forgot that Qin Chao is a piece of trash.
"Right now, in her mind, Qin Chao is still her boyfriend, still the person she likes.
"How are we supposed to tell her that Qin Chao is a bastard?"
Su Jing instantly plummeted from heaven into an icy abyss.
"You're right, how could I have forgotten about that?
"But, Renzhi, that bastard Qin Chao wouldn't dare approach Yueyue again, right?
"Didn't you warn him before?"
"Yes, but I don't think he's the type to give up so easily, especially after finding out about Yueyue's family background.
"He will definitely seize every opportunity.
"Mom, I think you shouldn't relent. Just refuse to agree and don't give Qin Chao any chances."
Su Jing hated Qin Chao to death; how could she possibly give him a chance?
When Liu Siyue brought up wanting to bring Qin Chao home again, Su Jing explicitly refused.
"Yueyue, Mom has found a few boys with matching backgrounds for you. You should meet them some other day."
Liu Siyue didn't understand.
"Mom, I have a boyfriend. Why are you making me go on blind dates?
"My boyfriend is really great. You'll know once you meet him."
"No!"
Su Jing refused bluntly.
"I do not agree to you being with him. Yueyue, listen to Mom, don't see him again.
"Break up with him immediately, do you understand?"
Liu Siyue was very hurt.
"Mom, you haven't even met him, so how can you reject him?
"He really is outstanding. At least give him a chance."
Su Jing refused to budge; she simply wouldn't meet him.
Not knowing what to do, Liu Siyue sent a message to Qin Chao.
"My mom won't agree to let you come over. What should I do?"
Qin Chao held his phone while smoking a cigarette.
He wasn't worried or scared at all.
Before, he hadn't known why Liu Siyue suddenly wanted to break up.
Now, he knew everything.
He also had leverage over Liu Siyue, so he had nothing to fear.
He replied to Liu Siyue:
"Your family is prejudiced against me. Baby, why don't you move in with me?
"Be with me. Anyway, what's done is done, and they can't oppose us anymore.
"Baby, let me come pick you up, okay?"
Liu Siyue didn't want to.
Even though she liked Qin Chao, she didn't want to make her family worry.
She continued to message Qin Chao:
"Don't rush, wait for me to talk to them some more."
Qin Chao took a drag of his cigarette.
"Okay."
He hadn't expected Liu Siyue to be so obedient and compliant now.
If he had known, he would have slept with her earlier; otherwise, he wouldn't have let those pieces of trash take advantage of her.
Thinking of this made him feel sick to his stomach.
Her first time.
His girlfriend's first time.
His stomach churned with nausea.
"Damn it."
He cursed under his breath and tossed the cigarette butt away.
"If it weren't for her family's money, there's no way I would want that dirty thing again."
Liu Siyue went to find Liu Renzhi.
Su Jing listened to Liu Renzhi.
In this family, as long as Liu Renzhi agreed, no one else would have anything to say.
But Liu Renzhi also firmly rejected her.
"Yueyue, you two aren't a match. I don't agree.
"If you really want to date, I'll introduce a few guys to you.
"I can absolutely guarantee their character."
"Brother!"
Liu Siyue couldn't understand it.
"Why are you acting just like Mom? I already have a boyfriend, so why do you still want to introduce people to me?
"I want to introduce him to you guys right now.
"Brother, please help me. Have you forgotten how Mom introduced so many girls to you back then?
"Didn't you reject every single one of them?
"If you couldn't do it yourself, why are you forcing me?"
Liu Renzhi patted her back.
"Yueyue, don't you trust your big brother?
"When have I ever steered you wrong?
"Listen to me, let's find someone else, okay?"
"No!"
Liu Siyue refused to listen.
She continued to fight for it, stammering out,
"Brother, I... I... I've already... with Qin Chao..."
