Yu Xiaxing considered Chen Yuru’s request and thought about what to do with Jiang Tinglan.
Jiang Tinglan was completely different from Zheng Wenhao, the previous student who had tried to withdraw from school. Zheng Wenhao had been disciplined for smoking, yet refused to show any remorse. He had defied the school and even intended to deal with a school trustee through violence—grounds for expulsion.
So far, Jiang Tinglan’s only offense was skipping class for a day. Under the school’s regulations, that warranted a disciplinary mark, but it was nowhere near serious enough to require her expulsion.
Although Yu Xiaxing wanted to sabotage the renewal mission, she couldn’t just force someone out of school when they hadn’t committed a serious enough offense.
Was there some way to achieve a win-win outcome…?
Wait.
Her mission had a time limit, and there were only seven days left.
If Jiang Tinglan took a leave of absence for seven days and used that time to deal with her family problems, then everyone would win!
Besides, the time limit counted toward the score. Fifth Brother, Second Brother, and Sixth Sister had all completed half of their missions already.
As for her, delaying things was a strategy in itself!
Yu Xiaxing came up with a new idea. “Don’t you think the way a green-tea manipulator communicates—offering only emotional comfort without providing any actual solutions—is really an easy way to win people’s favor?”
“Your daughter has been brainwashed pretty badly by this account called Breaking Free. There’s no point trying to reason with her.”
“Why don’t you actually let your daughter leave school for a week?”
“You should act like one of those green-tea parents, too. Just tell your daughter that you respect her choices and that she can do whatever she wants.”
“If she doesn’t know what to do with the rest of her life, tell her to ask Breaking Free. Isn’t that account supposed to understand her so well?”
“Let her see for herself whether those people online who keep stirring up conflict between parents and children will take responsibility for her life after they successfully drive a wedge between her and her family.”
“Besides, you worry too much and are too controlling. Let your daughter have some room to breathe.”
Chen Yuru also felt it was a good idea.
Her daughter’s view of the world was far too simplistic. Perhaps she should let her run into a few walls and see for herself how dangerous people outside could be.
Chen Yuru stood and bowed. “Thank you, Board Director Yu.”
Yu Xiaxing had another purpose as well.
She was extremely curious whether Breaking Free was actually Huo Mian, and why the account had used stories from Huo Mian’s childhood…
She added, “You also need to ask your daughter about her conversations with Breaking Free from time to time, and keep me updated. That account has absolutely no scruples when it comes to making money! We can’t let them get away with it!”
Chen Yuru lowered her eyes to the anti-fraud guide in her hand.
She didn’t really understand what immediate benefit Yu Xiaxing gained from doing all this for her.
It seemed there wasn’t any.
Looking at the young woman before her, Chen Yuru suddenly thought of a word she hadn’t used in many years: educator.
Perhaps she really was simply trying to protect students and parents from being swindled out of their money.
Chen Yuru nodded. “All right. I’ll be sure to keep you updated.”
The two of them had finished their discussion.
Chen Yuru said goodbye and prepared to leave.
Yu Xiaxing rose as well.
Chen Yuru stopped and looked at her in surprise. “Board Director Yu, you’re leaving too? You’ve only been at school for a little while.”
Yu Xiaxing casually picked up her phone, tapped the screen, and waved it in front of Chen Yuru to show her the time.
“It’s already past working hours. If I hadn’t needed to deal with your family’s situation, I would’ve taken the entire day off.”
For a moment, Chen Yuru didn’t know how to respond.
When she had first entered the office, she would probably have made another remark about young people having such a careless attitude toward work.
But now, Chen Yuru glanced down at the anti-fraud guide in her hand.
This school director really had done a lot after all.
Unlike certain leaders who were never late or left work early, yet never solved a single problem.
Just as they stepped out of the office, footsteps suddenly sounded from the other end of the corridor.
“Board Director Yu!”
Yu Xiaxing stopped and looked over. It was the school’s only physiology teacher, Mr. Yang.
A physiology teacher was different from a biology teacher. Biology teachers taught regular classes, while physiology teachers had been introduced in accordance with the latest requirements from the education authorities. Every school was required to hire one to teach students about sexual health and gender protection.
However, because Asians tended to be reserved about such topics, schools usually hired these teachers at extremely low salaries simply to satisfy inspections from above. They often weren’t given any classes at all.
At many schools, physiology teachers had already been reduced to clerical workers, spending their days preparing documents and running errands for principals and department heads.
Mr. Yang had originally been doing clerical work as well.
But after Yu Xiaxing took over the school, she assigned him to teach students who were involved in puppy love. After that, she had him visit every class during evening study sessions to give lectures.
The problem was that there wasn’t much these lessons could cover in depth. They could only teach the basics, and there were only a few classes to begin with.
By now, he had finished teaching the basic course to every class.
Recently, with nothing else to do, the school’s leaders had started treating him like a clerical worker again.
He was anxious. After all, clerical work had very little value in the organization, and he was afraid the school would eventually cut his position.
He was indignant, too. He was a top graduate of a prestigious medical university, specializing in sexual medicine, and had even minored in sexual psychology. Why had he ended up spending every day printing documents here?
He was perfectly capable of making a far greater contribution!
So, after thinking it over for a long time, he decided to fight for himself.
He had first taken his proposal to Director Gao, but Director Gao had told him he had too much time on his hands and should stop coming up with useless ideas. It wouldn’t improve the students’ grades, would merely waste money, and the school would never approve it.
But Mr. Yang still wanted to give it a try.
He knew that going over his superior’s head to contact the top leader directly was a major taboo in the workplace.
But he had no choice. Director Gao wouldn’t even pass his idea up the chain.
The only thing he could do was bypass Director Gao and go straight to the school’s highest authority.
If Board Director Yu approved, he could finally shine in his career.
If she didn’t, then after offending Director Gao, he would most likely face even harsher treatment in the future…
That was why Mr. Yang was extremely nervous as he approached, clutching a folder. “Board Director Yu, I… I have an idea I’d like to discuss with you. Don’t worry, I’ve organized all the materials, so I won’t take up much of your time… It would just require some funding…”
If it involved spending money, Boss Yu certainly wasn’t in any hurry to leave work.
She immediately said, “Go ahead.”
Mr. Yang handed her the folder. “I’ve finished teaching all the sex education classes. I also told the students that if they had any questions related to sex—whether physical or psychological—they could come to me for a consultation. But no one has come. They’re all too embarrassed. When they have questions, they’d rather search online than ask a teacher, and it’s far too easy to get scammed online.”
Yu Xiaxing nodded. That was true.
Mr. Yang continued, “So I hope the school can approve a budget to hire a professional software company to create a campus mini-program. It would contain all kinds of professional information, and our students could submit anonymous questions through it.”
“A school has a fairly large user base, so the cost might be a little high. Probably around one hundred thousand yuan…”
The quieter Mr. Yang’s voice became, the more afraid he was that Board Director Yu would scold him.
