Even a Street-Smart Girl Needs to Repair Mechas?

Chapter 17

"This is absolute nonsense! I request immediate rescue for Student 23!"

Fu Manli's tone grew heavier when she saw that Huang Yan actually intended to use a kitchen knife to deal with a pack of mutated beasts. Students these days were far too audacious!

They had already arrived in the airspace above Huang Yan's area, but the aircraft was in stealth mode, so the children couldn't detect it yet.

The rescue team teachers were ready to open the cabin doors the moment the student below pressed the alarm. Who would have thought that Student 23 would inexplicably pull out a kitchen knife?

"Don't be so hasty, let's watch a bit longer."

Chao Hao still had that same deadpan look, which made Fu Manli's heart skip a beat in frustration.

"Chao Hao, no matter what background he has, Huang Yan is currently just a freshman at the Qilin Military Academy! As Federation soldiers, we have an obligation to ensure his safety!"

Chao Hao glanced at her in surprise.

"Teacher Fu, you just said that we are no longer Federation soldiers..."

"Chao Hao! You know what I mean!"

Chao Hao turned his gaze back to his optical computer screen.

"I know, just hold on. He hasn't called for rescue yet, has he? The crazy rabbits won't kill him anytime soon; at least give the kid a chance to show what he can do."

The blond youth on the screen held the kitchen knife in one hand, his eyes becoming even sharper than before.

When a crazy rabbit lunged at him again, Huang Yan quickly, accurately, and ruthlessly grabbed its ears. Before it could break free, he slit its throat with the knife and threw it to the ground.

"Holy crap!!!"

"Wait... he actually knows how to do it!!"

"Young Master Huang is awesome!!"

The comments in Student 23's live stream hadn't stopped since a moment ago.

Although the physical bodies of the crazy rabbits were tough, they weren't strong enough to ignore bladed weapons.

The drone sensibly zoomed in for a close-up of the kitchen knife.

The blade was a dazzling bright silver with beautiful patterns on it. Bright red rabbit blood dripped down from the edge, adding a touch of dynamic beauty to the scene.

When it came to the Federation's firearms, the military academy students knew them like the back of their hands; they could explain range, kinetic energy, and lethality clearly. But as for a kitchen knife...

"Uh... nice knife?"

"More like good knife skills, right?"

"Young Master Huang's movements just now were so clean! Does he kill rabbits for fun at home every day?"

"Is this how the rich live? After what the previous person said, I don't really envy them anymore..."

"Taihe Technology's newly released combat mechas are equipped with individual missiles... and you're telling me their young master uses a kitchen knife to kill rabbits at home?"

From then on, Huang Yan was like a master chef possessed. Any rabbit that dared to get close to him was grabbed and had its throat slit. His movements were even neater than using a gun.

A few that he didn't catch on the first try or that tried to break free were also pierced through their internal organs when he saw an opening.

The youth completely shed his previous disheveled state, but as he killed more... the scene inevitably became bloody...

"Um... my neck feels a bit chilly."

"In future 1v1 matches, will he slit our throats..."

"He's an absolute beast!"

"An absolute beast +1"

Seeing this, Fu Manli finally breathed a sigh of relief, put her weapon back on the gun rack, and returned to her seat.

"...I underestimated him."

A hint of appreciation appeared in Chao Hao's eyes.

"Not bad. Being able to react in time to deal with this kind of fast and hard-to-aim-at enemy, using a cold weapon is faster."

Then he leaned back in his chair and stroked his chin.

"But does a kitchen knife count as bringing your own weapon? Hiss... should we disqualify him? This is so tricky..."

"Is he sick in the head?"

Another teacher next to Fu Manli finally couldn't help it.

"Is there really someone who can't stand seeing their own students do well?"

Fu Manli also rolled her eyes and said loudly,

"The school rules say no firearms are allowed! Besides, he passed the security check. If you disqualify him now, it will cause public outrage among the students!"

Chao Hao reluctantly pouted his lips.

His gaze returned to the screen, where the blond kid had already picked up his gun and shot the last three terrified crazy rabbits that were fleeing in all directions.

"Hiding so many things, I really still find him an eyesore..."

"Class S Huang Yan, +19 points"

Having finally dealt with the crazy rabbits, Huang Yan looked at the corpses all over the ground, then glanced at the blood-stained knife in his hand and his clothes. The veins on his forehead bulged.

He didn't put the knife back into its original leather tool bag. Instead, he roughly wiped it clean, clipped it to his backpack, and tied a knot in the broken backpack strap.

Having repacked his gear, Huang Yan picked two mutated rabbits from the ground that had been bled the cleanest. He put them in a bag to prevent any stray drops of blood from falling, and then quickly left this bloody land.

Although the crazy rabbits were crazy, they tasted pretty good.

The map showed a water source not far from here. Once he found a place to camp, he would have one for dinner and roast the other one a bit drier to eat for another day tomorrow.

The rest were too hard to carry, and the heavy smell of blood would attract other people or star beasts, affecting his journey, so he simply abandoned them.

As a commander, accurate judgment and making choices were mandatory lessons.

Arriving at the riverbank,

Huang Yan quietly filled his portable water bag, then hid in the man-high reed field to skin, gut, and clean the rabbits, taking the opportunity to wash the blood off his face and body.

The whole process didn't make much noise, which meant that the Class S squad setting up camp less than a hundred meters away from him didn't notice a thing.

The other party even ran to the river to fetch water while Huang Yan was washing his clothes!

The riverside already had a complex mix of smells, and Huang Yan had observed beforehand that there were no beastmen in the opposing team.

Very few humans could smell this little bit of blood from so far away, so he only spared a sliver of mental energy to keep an eye on them while focusing on his own tasks.

Before long, he left carrying his half-wrung clothes and the two perfectly cleaned rabbits.

The people in the live stream saw Huang Yan brazenly passing by the Class S squad,

while the squad members were just busy setting up camp, boiling water, and catching fish...

"No way, do you guys really think you're here for a camping trip!?"

"Those two catching fish are still grinning like idiots! Do you know your twenty credits just ran away!?"

"They couldn't spot Wang Tianwei over there, and they didn't notice Huang Yan here! And they all want to catch them?"

"Only Young Master Jian's side is somewhat normal, right? But then again, could Young Master Jian be letting them off on purpose?

Otherwise, 7 days have passed without even seeing the faces of the three people they are supposed to catch. Wouldn't the other students be very disappointed?"

"To be honest, I think even if they could see them, they might not be able to catch them... Let's not even talk about Jian Jingyu, but even Huang Yan has such good skills. Who would just surrender without a fight?"

"You have to pick the softest persimmon to squeeze! I just came from another squad's live stream, and they have already set their sights on catching Wang Tianwei first! Because her legs are short and she can't run fast! [Laughing crying][Laughing crying]"

"Hahahahaha! The eldest miss's reputation is ruined!"
