While the Qilin Fifth Military Academy League qualifiers were in full swing, the Federation promulgated a new policy:
All residential areas, workplaces, and public places were to be equipped with Federation standard scanners, and every citizen had to pass through scanner detection when entering and exiting!
This was because the Zerg had infiltrated in human form!
It was said that the source had been found, but they still needed to screen for any bugs that might have slipped through the net!
People who originally found it troublesome immediately supported it upon hearing the news! If the Zerg really infiltrated human society, it would be an absolute disaster!
The Federation News announced at an opportune moment that the star beasts and the Zerg had indeed undergone some kind of evolution, but immediately showcased several new types of weapons of mass destruction and precision strike weapons.
They also released a promotional video featuring the daily training lives of Federation soldiers and the latest mecha equipment!
Major media outlets urged the public not to panic. All Federation military districts were fully prepared, and as long as everyone cooperated with the screening, everything would be under control.
The interstellar citizens truly had seen the world!
They immediately complied upon hearing the news, and actually screened out several humans parasitized by the Zerg! They were subdued and taken away by the Federal Bureau of Investigation! They even caught three fugitives who had long evaded capture!
But these people were a very small minority, after all, and ordinary citizens went about their lives as usual.
However, the students of Qilin sensed a hint of tension in the air. After all, even though they were currently confined to the school, they still had to pass through the scanning gates once a week.
A Zerg invasion was the signal that war was beginning... Everyone understood that the most important thing was to grow stronger as quickly as possible!
Qilin's internal selection method was simple and straightforward.
First, they looked at academic grades, followed by professional course grades.
Finally, they combined the rankings from the Challenge Me app with performances in shooting, combat, and mecha piloting classes to select the very best.
To put it bluntly, it was fight me one-on-one if you disagree!
The entire process was open and transparent, and four teams were quickly selected!
Having any more would be meaningless.
After their selection, there would be another screening once the league started. If they picked a bunch of people who couldn't even pass the preliminaries, it would be better not to go at all...
Wang Tianwei's team was naturally among them.
In addition, sophomore Feng Yi's team and a senior team that had won third place in a military academy competition also passed the preliminary selection!
The final team was composed of both juniors and seniors.
Then, the four teams began their devilish special training under the guidance of several teachers!
Actually, this kind of training was not very friendly to the freshmen.
Because juniors and seniors were basically in their independent practice period, they had plenty of free time! They hung out together whenever they had nothing else to do!
Although sophomore Feng Yi and his peers were not completely free yet, it was the second semester after all, so as long as they managed their time well, it wasn't a big problem.
Only the freshmen had to balance their professional courses, prepare for the upcoming final exams, and keep up with team training all at the same time!
But soon, the members and teachers of the other teams realized that the problems they anticipated were nothing to Wang Tianwei and her group!
Those four had top-notch stress resistance!
After all, they had been living like this every single day since they enrolled as freshmen!
Professional courses were not an issue; they had thoroughly mastered the curriculum long ago!
Everyone was at the top of their respective majors! Except for Zhang Lyra, and that was only because the S-rank Jian Jingyu was blocking her path!
But according to teachers in the know, the gap in strength between the two of them was getting smaller and smaller!
Zhang Lyra's physical combat skills could break through at any moment!
So now, she was constantly reminded by the teachers every day to practice her mental strength more. They even had her follow her teammate Wang Tianwei to smelt parts in her free time! They were just afraid her mental strength wouldn't be able to keep up when the time came!
On the individual soldier training ground, a figure with bright yellow hair and another with black-and-white spliced hair would often appear...
The A-rank soldiers were already very used to practicing with these two transfer students. After all, they had beaten up the vast majority of people here, not even sparing the upperclassmen...
But on second thought, these monsters would soon be going to the military academy league to beat up students from other military academies! Everyone felt relieved!
It was just being sparring partners!? If not them, then who?
Want to spar? Sir Huang! My punching power has increased recently! You might not be able to beat me!
Want to try?
Ten minutes later, Huang Yan was called away by an upperclassman soldier, while the student who suggested sparring lay on the ground, unable to get up for a long time...
Damn! He improved faster than I did... Don't help me up! I can do it myself...
But after a day passed, Huang Yan wasn't actually doing much better than him...
Everyone on the teams selected to participate in the competition was covered in black and blue bruises on their bodies and faces!
This was also a form of training. The teachers said that during the military academy league, no one was allowed to leave the arena early before a match ended!
So no matter how badly they were injured, they had to endure it themselves!
Moreover, previous military academy leagues always had a mortality rate...
That is to say, during the competition, one careless mistake could really cost them their lives!
This was a massive shock to the Qilin students, who were used to a zero-casualty rate!
Dying on the battlefield and dying before even graduating were two completely different things!!
They were prepared to sacrifice themselves for the Federation... but no one wanted to lose their life in a competition!
Before this, even Zhang Lyra had never considered the possibility of being injured and not being able to lie in a medical cabin!
It was Chao Hao who caught the teams and corrected their mindset!
He educated them that once they became real soldiers, not having a medical cabin would be the least of their worries!?
They would often have to fight continuously for days and nights without closing their eyes! If they got injured during that time, they could only rely on themselves and their teammates!
So everyone went back to take first aid medical courses again!
Consequently, even the rest of the students in the school stopped going to the infirmary easily for minor injuries!
The pressure on the school's medical cabins dropped sharply, but Zhu Yu'an from the first-year S-Class had never felt so popular before!
They couldn't lie in medical cabins, but they were allowed to bring medicine!
Many students who had never taken medicine before also started seeking Zhu Yu'an out for advice and to buy medicine...
The sales in the past month had caught up to what his family used to sell in a whole year!
To prevent students from taking the wrong medicine, the school specially set up a simple medical drug training course!
They taught it continuously for a month, ensuring every student had attended the course so that no one would perform the heroic feat of overdosing and being sent to the infirmary to get their stomach pumped again!
Zero Zone has reopened.
Upon receiving the news, Huang Yan immediately informed his friends.
Oh!? Looks like everything is fine.
Jian Jingyu was the first to reply after finishing his training.
Too bad we can't go out right now!
We don't have the time either... It's just that there are two new rules for future matches.
What rules?
Wang Tianwei, dizzy and seeing stars from overdrawing her mental strength, slumped on a mat in the mecha room drinking a nutrient solution.
Rule number one: Temporarily swapping mechas mid-match is prohibited.
Reasonable!! That is too reasonable! This makes it fair!
There's another one: Dismantling an opponent's mecha on the battlefield is not allowed, and taking out the cockpit to inspect it is strictly forbidden...
Targeting... This is absolutely targeting me!
