Another weekend arrived, and Mu Yue woke up in a pile of fluffy fur. She patted each of their heads in turn, running her hands from their heads all the way down their backs. Only after all four little creatures were satisfied did she pick up her phone to check it.
She had received several invitations to events that weekend, including evening banquets and wine tastings, but Mu Yue had no interest in any of them.
She now had more than seventy million in savings and over seventy thousand points. She had yet to use the various little items she had obtained from her daily check-ins. She was so wealthy that she no longer knew where to spend her money.
At present, both her self-defense and swordsmanship had reached the basic mastery stage. She had already bought the intermediate-level skills and was practicing them, spending over a thousand points in the process. The seven thousand points were what she had left.
Mu Yue continued scrolling through her messages and noticed an unread one from Wen Yuanting sent the previous night. When she opened it, she found that he was asking whether she needed him to work today.
Wen Yuanting had been learning swordsmanship since elementary school. Mu Yue had only practiced with Heidi before, so she still had no idea how she measured up against anyone else. It might be worth asking him to spar with her.
Mu Yue replied to his message. After getting up and washing up, she saw his response. Wen Yuanting invited her to their family’s martial arts school, which had a dedicated practice area and all kinds of equipment.
Mu Yue thought it over and agreed, arranging to meet him that afternoon. Several brands were delivering their new autumn collections that morning, and at ten o’clock sharp, a representative from one of them arrived first.
Qianqian led three people in dark gray suits into Mu Yue’s more-than-one-hundred-square-meter walk-in wardrobe. The woman at the front was a highly capable-looking professional in her forties. She smiled and gave the Mu Yue, who was sitting on the sofa flipping through a catalog, a slight bow.
“Hello, Miss Mu. I’m Susan, the Asia-Pacific VIP director for House D. Today, I’ll be presenting House D’s latest autumn collection…”
Two assistants pushed four clothing racks forward and began showing Mu Yue each piece while introducing it.
All Mu Yue had to do was sit there. Whenever she saw something she liked, she kept it. Once one brand finished, three others arrived in succession. Each brand brought roughly six or seven complete outfits, along with another three or four individual pieces.
By the end of the morning, another huge pile of new clothes, shoes, and bags had joined the hundred-square-meter family in Mu Yue’s wardrobe. She had spent more than fifteen million in total.
The points were credited to her account. After the representatives from the various brands had left, Mu Yue took a lap around her walk-in wardrobe, admiring the rows of beautiful clothes and the wide variety of accessories displayed in the island cabinet.
After lunch, she chose a cream-white vintage outfit in the style of a wealthy young lady. She replaced the white cloche she had originally planned to wear with a velvet headband, curled her hair slightly, and studied herself in the mirror. Then she picked up a pearl handbag and was quite pleased with the result.
Mu Yue did not ask Wen Yuanting to pick her up. Instead, she had him send her the location and drove there herself. Today, she had chosen to take Little Pink out for a spin.
Traffic on the weekend streets was less than ideal. Fortunately, the Wen family’s martial arts school was not far away, and she would arrive in about twenty minutes.
There was just one minor incident along the way. Mu Yue got to experience firsthand the hostility that came with driving a pink car. On one stretch of road, another vehicle deliberately cut her off. At a traffic light, a different car repeatedly honked as its driver forced their way into her lane.
Mu Yue had never been one to tolerate such behavior. She maneuvered around the first car and cut it off in return. As for the second, she refused to give an inch and honked back in provocation. Not only that, she recorded everything. She also had the system buddies search through the recordings from the other drivers’ own cars. If they had violated any traffic rules, she would report them all.
What? They had simply failed to recognize her car at first, and once they did, they had immediately kept their distance and stopped bothering her?
Mu Yue had no intention of letting them off anyway. People like that certainly were not doing this for the first time. Just because they had stopped harassing her did not mean they would not continue harassing other drivers of pink cars. Besides, she was not exactly a pushover. If they dared to provoke her, they had to bear the consequences.
After casually taking care of two pests, Mu Yue soon arrived. The moment she parked, she saw Wen Yuanting coming out.
Wen Yuanting was wearing a black martial arts uniform. There was nothing particularly special about it—it was loose-fitting and looked very soft. Ever since Mu Yue had once remarked that he looked good in his clothes, he had begun switching between all kinds of styles. She did not know who was acting as his stylist, but his taste in clothing had improved dramatically, and Mu Yue often found herself unable to resist stealing a few extra glances.
Today, however, he had gone for a rare, casual look. But that was understandable. They were there to spar, after all. Dressing too formally would have looked strange.
Of course, with that face and figure, even the most relaxed clothes could never make Wen Yuanting look bad.
Wen Yuanting came over and helped Mu Yue carry her bag. He skillfully took the car keys from her hand and tucked them into the beautiful pearl handbag. When he looked up, he saw what was happening inside the martial arts school. His usually dignified face immediately flushed, and he frantically waved at the people inside, ordering them to get lost.
Inside the martial arts school, row after row of heads was pressed against the windows. Their bottoms stuck up in the air as they stared wide-eyed at the man and woman in the parking lot.
“Wow! She’s gorgeous!”
“Tsk! Why does Brother Ting look like her sidekick?”
“Big Brother looks awful in that outfit, too. How could he go meet her dressed like that? I’m embarrassed for him!”
“Exactly! He should’ve worn his performance uniform. It’s so flashy and handsome!”
“Get lost, you bunch of straight men! Don’t you have even the slightest sense of aesthetics? If my brother actually went out wearing a performance uniform, wouldn’t people laugh him to death? You’re obviously doing this on purpose!”
“They’re here, they’re here! Break it up, everyone!”
Wen Yuanting opened the door and invited Mu Yue inside. The moment she entered, she noticed several curious gazes studying her. She did not mind and simply asked Wen Yuanting to take her straight to the practice hall. Wen Yuanting naturally had no objections and led her farther inside.
The Wen family’s martial arts school was decorated fairly well and kept very clean. The posters on the walls mainly featured children between six and fifteen, as well as teenagers participating in competitions. Business seemed to be doing fairly well. A group of children was gathered in the lobby, apparently about to head off for training. There were only a few adults, but there seemed to be an unusually large number of instructors in the lobby.
The practice hall was spacious and even had racks of weapons. Mu Yue swept her gaze over the room and spotted a girl with a ponytail. She greeted Mu Yue warmly.
“Miss, the changing rooms are over here! Did you bring your own clothes? We have new ones here, too, and we should have a size that fits you.”
“Thank you.” Mu Yue held out her hand toward Wen Yuanting. Before she even said anything, he immediately handed her the tote bag and tucked her handbag inside it as well. “I brought my own.”
“Okay, okay! I’ll show you the way!”
Mu Yue followed her, pretending not to notice the silent exchange passing between the siblings. She did not even need to ask. This was clearly Wen Yuanting’s younger sister—the male lead’s unknown-number female lead.
His sister looked rather similar to Wen Yuanting and was a very spirited, heroic-looking young woman. She was wearing a martial arts uniform as well, which made it seem that she had been learning from their father since childhood.
It was obvious from their features that the Wen family was very happy. If not for that scumbag male lead and his rotten little brother, their family probably could have continued living happily together.
Thinking of that bastard, Mu Yue changed clothes in the dressing room while glancing at the surveillance footage the system buddies had set up.
The sight made her laugh. Hahaha—the stallion male lead’s leg was crippled, his face a sickly white. That arrogant, show-off attitude of his had already begun to take a dark turn.
Wang Jian had left the city by now. The Tang family had stepped in to save him, but not before he’d endured plenty of torment. Getting beaten up every meal was a given. The worst damage was to his leg—it had genuinely been broken. The footage was disturbing, so the system buddies had thoughtfully mosaicked it for Mu Yue, though she could still imagine how bloody the scene must have been.
What a pity they hadn’t crippled his third leg. Otherwise, the male lead would have suffered a total collapse. A male lead who couldn’t get it up—could he still be called a stallion male lead?
For safety’s sake, Mu Yue hadn’t gone straight for that gemstone at the time. If the gem had really been found on the male lead, she probably could have cleared the scenario. Given how ruthless that underground casino was, there was no way the male lead would have made it out alive. But the move had been too risky. After thinking it over again and again, Mu Yue had ultimately abandoned the idea.
As things stood, this outcome wasn’t bad either. The male lead had suffered quite a few hidden injuries at the casino, and he wouldn’t be able to get together with his witch anytime soon. The Tang family had also paid a considerable price to bail him out. Sooner or later, the male lead would have to repay that debt.
After closing the surveillance feed, Mu Yue smoothed her hair and left the dressing room.
She turned a corner and arrived at the training hall, where quite a few people had already begun “happening” to pass by on both sides.
Mu Yue smiled, took a wooden sword from the weapon rack, and said to Wen Yuanting, “Senior, let’s begin.”
“Sure!” Wen Yuanting also withdrew his gaze from the “passersby” and picked up a wooden sword. These swords were mainly for practice, and their tips were very blunt. Even so, a serious fight could still easily cause injuries.
Wen Yuanting wasn’t sure how skilled Mu Yue was, but he knew she had no calluses on her hands. He guessed that she probably hadn’t been practicing swordsmanship for very long, so he couldn’t…
Without warning, Mu Yue moved.
Her attack wasn’t fierce. Instead, she drifted forward like a leaf lifted by the autumn wind, light and graceful. Yet within that weightlessness, her sword suddenly burst into motion. The wooden blade split into two afterimages, one aimed at Wen Yuanting’s shoulder and the other at his wrist. From the very first move, she was already trying to disarm him.
Wen Yuanting was startled and hurriedly retreated to block. Fortunately, his reactions were quick enough, and he successfully stopped both strikes.
“Senior, we’ve already started. What are you spacing out for? Focus!” Mu Yue’s expression was serious, and she wasn’t joking with him.
Wen Yuanting gathered his thoughts and stopped worrying about anything else, responding to her attack in earnest.
After several exchanges, the “passersby” who had happened to be walking by lost all interest in merely watching the spectacle. They stopped one after another to observe, occasionally letting out soft exclamations. None of them had expected Mu Yue’s strength to be no weaker than Wen Yuanting’s. She hadn’t come over simply because swinging a sword looked cool and she wanted to watch. She had genuinely come to practice swordsmanship.
Another dull wooden thud rang out. Wen Yuanting once again blocked the edge of Mu Yue’s sword. But then she used the force of the block to glide along his blade like water, slipping inside his guard. The two of them were extremely close—close enough for their breaths to mingle. Wen Yuanting could even see the colors cast by the lights onto her eyelashes.
Mu Yue raised her free hand, holding two fingers together like a sword, and lightly touched them to Wen Yuanting’s Adam’s apple. The posture was intimate, but the move was lethal.
“Senior, you’ve lost.”
With a sudden “boom,” a never-before-felt shiver surged through Wen Yuanting’s entire body from the spot her fingertip had touched. His heart raced wildly. He lowered his head and took half a step back, his Adam’s apple bobbing once.
“Mm. I lost.”
