After the voice in her mind faded away, Nangong Yu did not move at once.
She looked at the painting in front of her. It depicted all kinds of beasts: fierce tigers, falcons, long-haired creatures, winged creatures, creatures wreathed in flames, and creatures spitting water.
Their poses varied, but whether they were shown from the front or the side, they all shared one feature: their eyes faced outward.
Those eyes, each a different color, were full of life. They seemed almost alive as they watched the person holding the painting.
This was one of the gifts Elder Xuanqing had given her as an apology after cursing her out at Disciples’ Peak.
She had no idea what any of these things were, so she took them out one by one to examine them. Suddenly, Elder Ling Heng’s voice appeared.
“Did he see it?”
Nangong Yu could not fathom the methods of cultivators. But Elder Ling Heng had not mentioned the painting, and his tone was oddly sticky and cloying. That meant there was at least something else more important than this.
She put the painting back into her storage space and glanced at the customer-service icon in the lower-right corner of the panel.
It was the system’s contact avatar, but ever since she had transmigrated into the cultivation instance, it had lit up only once—to remind her to change her spiritual root.
Now, Nangong Yu closed her eyes and turned her awareness inward, examining her dantian.
Three towering trees stood upon firm, moist earth. Green grass flourished, wildflowers dotted the ground, and in the distance, sunlight glimmered across a lake where birds perched. Just one look was enough to bring peace to her heart.
She knew there was something strange about her dantian.
But no one had ever said that every dantian in the cultivation world had to be exactly the same. If the underlying code of this cultivation world was an infinite-flow system, then even if her dantian contained three withered bones crawling with maggots, it would still make perfect sense.
“Ugh.”
The thought disgusted Nangong Yu so much that she quickly looked at the snails, river mussels, dragon-patterned koi, little wooden house, and enormous villa.
Much better.
“You’re already at the mid-Qi Refining stage,” Chen Zhi said.
“How are you only at the fourth level of Qi Refining?” Xu Wanzhong asked.
Nangong Yu now understood her cultivation level, but she still did not quite know how to use her new powers.
That was right—she could sense “spiritual power.” By following the rules, she had obtained the power system of this instance.
The power from one instance could not necessarily be carried into the next.
But within the current instance, it was crucial.
Nangong Yu calmed her mind and focused her thoughts, guiding a thread of spiritual power along her meridians and out of her body.
“!!”
How could it be so beautiful?!
Transparent, fine as silk, sparkling, edged with golden light, the strands of spiritual power intertwined and coiled together. They drifted lightly before her, dreamlike and illusory.
Without any purpose assigned to it, spiritual power was gentle and harmless. It floated before Nangong Yu, then affectionately rubbed against her fingertips.
“Ha!”
Nangong Yu raised her palm and thrust it forward with all her might.
The next moment, a sharp gust of wind shot out like an arrow. With a bang, it struck the hard stone wall and smashed out a crater the size of a bowl.
Nangong Yu was both astonished and delighted. She hurried over and picked up the fragments of stone from the ground.
If she remembered correctly, this cave dwelling, once occupied by the Eldest Senior Sister, had long since been altered by the ice spiritual power of a Soul Formation cultivator. The stone was no longer ordinary rock.
Her eyes rolled, and she took out a ghost hand.
The ghost hand gleamed with the luster of white jade. In life, it had been a dignified and imposing great ghost. It had even “bitten” through Zhegu’s white-jade flute.
When Nangong Yu fed it the stone fragments from the ground, it gnawed on them with a crackle and crunch, but all it left behind was a faint white mark.
“Hee-hee-hee.” Nangong Yu covered her mouth with her shoulder and laughed, her eyes curving into crescents.
After putting the ghost hand away, she straightened and prepared to make a trip to the Scripture Pavilion.
To use spiritual power, she needed spell incantations.
That was not to say that without spell incantations, her spiritual power would be useless. Rather, incantations allowed spiritual power to be used more effectively.
Tell it to attack, and it would attack. Tell it to defend, and it would defend. Tell it to become round, and it would become round. Tell it to become flat, and it would become flat.
Ling Xue had given her several manuals, but they focused mainly on defense.
Nangong Yu was not lacking in defensive techniques. The titles granted by that wretched system were almost all defensive in nature.
What she lacked were offensive techniques.
Once she had decided, she acted at once.
Nangong Yu walked out of the cave dwelling and whistled at the sky.
Before the spirit crane arrived, Xu Wanzhong came first. “Junior Sister, where are you going?”
A deep-blue figure flashed like a beam of light and appeared in front of Nangong Yu.
“Senior Brother, are you really that free?” Nangong Yu blinked curiously.
Xu Wanzhong was helpless. “Master told me to look after you.” He glanced into the distance. “To keep anyone from targeting you.”
She was safe on Hengxu Peak, but once she left Hengxu Peak, that might no longer be the case.
“Then I’ll trouble you, Senior Brother.” Nangong Yu politely pulled out a handful of spirit fruits. “I want to go to the Scripture Pavilion.”
She might as well give them to him if she was going to give them to the spirit crane anyway.
“You’re awfully polite.” Xu Wanzhong found it both amusing and perplexing as he ended up with a handful of spirit fruits stuffed into his hands.
He was already quite old. Strictly speaking, he was even old enough to be someone’s grand martial ancestor. Yet here he was, being given food by a child barely in her teens. It was a rather novel experience.
Still, the spirit fruits were not especially valuable, so Xu Wanzhong did not refuse. He tossed one into his mouth. “Let’s go.”
Once one had drawn qi into the body, one could begin cultivating spell incantations.
Nangong Yu’s decision to visit the Scripture Pavilion did not surprise Xu Wanzhong in the slightest.
Although her master would teach her, who did not yearn for the Scripture Pavilion? When Xu Wanzhong had first entered the sect, he had also dreamed of going inside, finding the opportunity meant for him, and beginning a life as a prodigy—shaking the world, dominating his peers, and crushing the other young geniuses beneath his feet…
With Xu Wanzhong acting as her bodyguard, Nangong Yu had not the slightest concern for her safety. They arrived at the Scripture Pavilion without incident.
It was called a pavilion, but in truth, it was a tower more than a dozen stories high. Each floor stood several zhang tall, and the entire structure was truly magnificent.
“Wow!” Nangong Yu exclaimed immediately. “It’s so impressive!”
Xu Wanzhong smiled in understanding and led the way. “Come on. Let’s go in.”
Every disciple entering the Scripture Pavilion had to register using their identity token.
Since no contribution points were deducted, Nangong Yu handed over her token to the Scripture Pavilion’s administrator, who verified its authenticity and recorded her name and the peak to which she belonged.
After registering, she stepped through a barrier that rippled like water and entered the Scripture Pavilion proper.
Nangong Yu tipped her head back and exclaimed again, “Wow!”
From the outside, it looked like a magnificent tower. From within, however, it was far taller and broader than it appeared.
Massive, intricate formation patterns had been drawn across the floor, flickering in and out of sight.
Countless bookshelves lined the walls, forming an enormous circular space. They rose layer upon layer, stretching all the way to the heavens.
Bright light spilled down from the ceiling, even and gentle, drifting like a veil.
Nangong Yu saw sect disciples flying back and forth through the vast space. They were like dragonflies flitting through a forest—tiny, yet free.
“Go on.” Xu Wanzhong extended a hand and pointed the way. “The cultivation methods for earth, water, and wood attributes are over there.”
One cultivated techniques corresponding to one’s spiritual root.
That was not to say that techniques of other attributes could not be cultivated. Xie Jinyue and Ling Xue, for example, both knew Water Control Arts and Fire Control Arts. But when they cultivated them, their power was far inferior to that of cultivators who possessed water or fire spiritual roots.
This was what it meant to play to one’s strengths and avoid one’s weaknesses.
“Thank you, Senior Brother.”
Nangong Yu headed in the direction he had indicated.
She had now drawn qi into her body and become a cultivator, but she had yet to learn the Lightness Technique, so she was only slightly faster than an ordinary person.
She watched him amble off at an unhurried pace. Xu Wanzhong made no move to help, merely standing to one side with his arms crossed.
There was a saying in the Ziyang Sect: the Scripture Repository possessed a spirit, and every disciple who entered it for the first time would receive a gift.
Xu Wanzhong did not entirely believe it, but when he had entered for the first time, he had indeed found an unusual cultivation technique.
Meanwhile, Nangong Yu headed toward the cultivation-technique section.
Curiously, although she was still some distance away, she could actually make out the names of the books on the shelves in the distance.
There were cultivation methods, secret manuals, incomplete scrolls, notes, and personal records—an astonishing variety.
Aside from spells and cultivation formulas, there were also techniques for alchemy, artifact refining, formations, and astrology.
There were even books such as A Traveler’s Guide to the Continent, Records of Secret Realms, Major Events of the Canglan World, The Complete Guide to Spirit Plants, A Record of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, The History of the Demon Clan, and Catalogue of Demon Generals, among many others.
The collection was practically comprehensive. Nangong Yu found herself becoming absorbed in it, wanting to borrow every book and read them all.
“This dungeon is far too vast to be reasonable,” Nangong Yu thought.
Some of the high-level dungeons she had cleared before had been about the size of Sunset City, such as the Vampire Manor dungeon.
There had also been maps that were extremely expansive, like the zombie dungeon, where players had to travel between various cities. But aside from their sheer size, their level of detail and richness was nowhere near that of the Ziyang Sect.
And this cultivation dungeon called the Canglan World was not limited to the Ziyang Sect. Strictly speaking, the Ziyang Sect was merely a second-rate power—only the tip of the iceberg.
Just how much power did the infinite-flow game controlled by the system possess? How could it have control over a world this vast, a world so immense that it was almost impossible to imagine?
At times, Nangong Yu even wondered whether she had truly cleared the game. Could this cultivation world really be just a dungeon?
But she quickly dismissed the thought. If the Canglan World was not one of the infinite-flow game’s assets, how could she have entered it?
Lost in thought, she arrived at the section containing water-element cultivation techniques.
Water Wall Technique, Water Shield Technique, Water Arrow Technique, Water Dragon Formula, Water Breath Technique, Water Illusion Technique…
At a glance, apart from the Water Dragon Formula, which held some interest, none of the others appealed to Nangong Yu in the slightest.
She took it down and opened it.
The first third was available for reading. To access the rest, one had to pay sect contribution points, after which the Scripture Repository administrator would make a copy onto a jade slip for the disciple to take away.
The Water Dragon Formula was an offensive spell. It used spiritual energy to shape a dragon, which could then be used to attack one’s enemies.
Nangong Yu was not particularly interested. She put it back and continued browsing.
After looking around for a while without finding anything that really caught her eye, she reluctantly picked up a book called Tide Formula.
It transformed spiritual energy into tides, making it suitable for area attacks. The crashing sound of the waves also carried a natural stunning effect.
She then took a look at the wood-element techniques.
Ling Xue had given her a copy of the Azure Wood Formula, which was a wood-element cultivation method. Nangong Yu had always found it lacking in offensive power.
But the other wood-element techniques were much the same. Most focused on endless vitality, either nourishing oneself from within or healing others from without. The rest involved wood spikes, entanglement, strangulation, and the like.
Nangong Yu picked up a copy of Spirit Rain Formula. It transformed spiritual energy into a small area of rainfall that could water spirit herbs and flowers, helping them sprout and grow.
There was a large tree and a patch of grass in her dantian. Perhaps she could try the Spirit Rain Formula and see whether it would nourish them.
“Hm?”
Just before leaving, the corner of Nangong Yu’s eye caught sight of a book.
Its title was Rejuvenation Technique. Like the Rejuvenation Pill, it was a healing-oriented cultivation method.
Nangong Yu was not particularly interested in it, but for some reason, she turned back and picked up the book again.
She examined the cover from every angle. Then, at a particular angle, a flash of green light flickered across it, and an extra character appeared.
“Greater.”
Rejuvenation Technique had become Greater Rejuvenation Technique.
Almost instantly, Nangong Yu’s eyelid twitched, and she instinctively tightened her grip on the cultivation method.
She could not explain why, but her intuition told her that she could not afford to miss this item.
After steadying herself, she looked again. Greater Rejuvenation Technique had changed back into Rejuvenation Technique.
Nangong Yu lowered her head, placed it together with the Tide Formula, and then went to the section for earth-element cultivation methods.
There were all sorts of Earth Shield and Earth Wall techniques, as well as Earth Escape. There were even some high-level methods, such as the Thick Earth, Raging Flame Formula.
The Thick Earth, Raging Flame Formula required one to cultivate an earth-element spiritual root and technique, yet it could transform that power into fire-element attacks.
Nangong Yu was somewhat interested, so she flipped through it.
Every cultivation method had a portion available for preview, allowing cultivators to determine whether it suited them.
Nangong Yu read through several pages. She was tempted, but not particularly tempted.
As she hesitated, the corner of her eye caught sight of another book, and her gaze sharpened.
Burial Immortal Scripture.
“??”
Nangong Yu almost wondered whether she had seen it wrong. What an imposing name for a cultivation method! It actually dared to invoke the word “immortal”?
Curious, she opened it. She had not even turned two pages before her eyes widened and her heart began pounding.
“Earth can bury the dead, and it can also nourish the living.”
“Bury your enemies, extract their essence, purify their cultivation, and transform it into your own Dao Fruit.”
Good heavens!
Good heavens!!
Nangong Yu was practically dizzy. Was this really a legitimate cultivation method?!
Even an utterly ordinary earth-element spiritual root could have this kind of treatment?
But it suited Nangong Yu perfectly! Was there any cultivation method more fitting for a scavenger like her? She never let anything of value go to waste!
She loved it immediately and took it in her hand.
“Little Junior Sister, find anything good?” Seeing the several books in her hands, Xu Wanzhong flashed over to her side.
Nangong Yu showed him the cultivation methods she had chosen.
When Xu Wanzhong saw the first few, he frowned slightly. They were rather ordinary.
When he saw the earth-element technique, his brows relaxed a little. “This one’s decent.”
Decent?
Nangong Yu immediately began to doubt herself. She had thought she had found an extraordinary cultivation method, but the result was… just this?
Could it be that the technique merely had an intimidating name, while in reality it was nothing special? Did the other spiritual roots have similar methods? For example, was there a Bake Immortal Scripture for fire spiritual roots and a Stew Immortal Scripture for water spiritual roots?
Was it all just empty boasting, and after cultivating it to completion, would one still only be capable of a pathetic struggle between evenly matched weaklings?
At the thought, Nangong Yu felt somewhat disappointed.
But she had already chosen the books, and she still needed to return and study the Greater Rejuvenation Technique, so she did not go back.
She arrived at the Scripture Repository administrator’s desk.
The administrator took Nangong Yu’s disciple token and registered each book one by one.
“Tide Formula, twenty-six contribution points.”
“Rejuvenation Technique, fifteen contribution points.”
“Spirit Rain Formula, seven contribution points.”
“Thick Earth Formula, sixty-eight contribution points.”
??
When Nangong Yu heard the final title, she thought she had misheard and hurriedly leaned over to look.
The registrar was holding the Burial Immortal Scripture, yet the name being recorded was Thick Earth Formula. Nangong Yu was left utterly dumbfounded.
“What is it?” Xu Wanzhong noticed her expression and asked.
Nangong Yu opened her mouth, but did not know how to explain.
Xu Wanzhong seemed to realize something, however, and smiled faintly. “Is the registered name incorrect?”
Nangong Yu nodded lightly.
“That’s normal.” Xu Wanzhong’s smile widened, and his gaze grew slightly nostalgic. “For this one, take the original copy back with you.”
Got it.
A player-exclusive perk.
The registrar looked at the two of them without saying a word. He handed over the original copy of the Burial Immortal Scripture, along with three copied jade slips.
“The borrowing fee is twenty contribution points. The deposit is fifty contribution points. The total comes to one hundred and eighty-six.”
He looked at them, waiting for payment.
New disciples generally had no contribution points of their own, so their senior brothers and sisters usually paid for them.
Nangong Yu was paying with her own contribution points, but she was a little confused. “Senior Brother, why is there an extra twenty-point borrowing fee?”
She could understand the deposit.
But she had already spent sixty-eight contribution points. Why was she still being charged a borrowing fee? Couldn’t they just combine the two charges into one?
“Are you taking it or not?” The registrar sounded impatient.
Before Nangong Yu could say anything, Xu Wanzhong tugged her back. “We’ll talk about it after we leave.”
Nangong Yu swallowed the words that had risen to her lips. Then she pointed at the Rejuvenation Art and said, “I’d like to borrow the original copy of this one too.”
“That’s another twenty-point borrowing fee, plus a fifty-point deposit. Two hundred and fifty-six contribution points in total.”
Fortunately, Nangong Yu had earned a little money before joining the sect, and she also had the support of her senior brother NPC. Otherwise, she couldn’t even afford to look at these books!
After paying, she followed Xu Wanzhong out of the Library Pavilion.
“The sect doesn’t encourage disciples to take the original copies away,” Xu Wanzhong explained once they had left. “Every book was written, compiled, and organized by our predecessors. If one of them were damaged…”
It would be an immeasurable loss, and would let down the painstaking efforts of those who had come before them.
“I understand.” Nangong Yu nodded and hugged the original copies tightly.
“Also, the reason for the additional fee is…” Xu Wanzhong continued explaining.
Nangong Yu listened quietly.
In short, taking away a copied jade slip was called a copyright fee. Reading the original was called a borrowing fee.
“After the original is returned, the disciples at the Library Pavilion still have to inspect it, repair it, and put it back in its proper place. Twenty contribution points isn’t much.” Xu Wanzhong patted her on the head.
Nangong Yu nodded obediently. “I understand. Thank you, Senior Brother.”
When she turned around, the towering pagoda still rose high into the clouds behind them.
“Thank you for accompanying me, Senior Brother.” After mounting the spirit crane, Nangong Yu said gratefully, “And thank you even more for giving me those contribution points earlier.”
Without the one hundred contribution points Xu Wanzhong had given her, she would probably have had to choose between the Grand Rejuvenation Art and the Burial Immortal Scripture today.
“We’re fellow disciples. There’s no need to thank me.” Xu Wanzhong lightly flicked her on the forehead.
It was already afternoon.
Xu Wanzhong glanced at the sky and said, “I promised you that once you successfully drew qi into your body, I’d treat you to a proper meal.”
He smiled and looked toward Outer Sect Peak. “It’s been simmering for several days. Come on!”
Nangong Yu’s eyes lit up at once. “Senior Brother, you’re the best!”
To be honest, she hadn’t expected him to keep his word.
When they reached Outer Sect Peak and entered the dining hall, Xu Wanzhong led her all the way inside, to the area where the inner disciples and elders had private meals prepared—the place with the richest aroma.
“Number Zero Nine,” Xu Wanzhong said.
The culinary disciple accepted the voucher he handed over and checked its authenticity before saying, “Please wait.”
Nangong Yu stood outside, craning her neck in anticipation.
She watched as the culinary cultivator filled one bowl, then one plate, then another plate, and then another.
Her mouth watered so much she was practically drooling. “Senior Brother, isn’t this a little too much?”
“Would you be full if there were less?” Xu Wanzhong asked with a laugh.
In truth, she would have been full. She was only a little cultivator at the Qi Refining stage. Half a bowl of soup would probably have filled her up.
But could the disciples of Hengxu Peak really afford to look that pathetic?
Xu Wanzhong had provided the ingredients himself and sent them to the dining hall, where he had the culinary disciple prepare four dishes and a soup.
Once everything had been packed, he carried the food container in his hand and said, “I’ll take you back.”
A short while later, they arrived at the entrance to her cave abode.
“You’ve just broken through, so you might as well rest for a few days. I’ll ask for leave for you from tomorrow’s classes,” Xu Wanzhong said as he handed her the food container.
Nangong Yu stared at him. “Huh?”
She had class again tomorrow?
They only had class once every three days, which didn’t sound particularly frequent. Yet for some reason, it always felt like the classes came around far too quickly.
“You don’t have to go,” Xu Wanzhong said with a laugh. “Once Master returns, he’ll teach you the cultivation classes. As for the other subjects, you can take them slowly.”
The rules at Disciples Peak were truly aimed at the outer disciples.
Those who were diligent and hardworking would be promoted to Class A and taught attentively.
As for those who were lazy, unmotivated, foolish, or content to muddle through life, they would all be thrown out to fend for themselves.
For inner disciples like Nangong Yu and Mo Jiuyou, being placed in Class B would only earn them a scolding from their master. They would suffer no other consequences.
Anything taught at Disciples Peak would also be taught by their master—and their master would teach them even more.
As for the things Disciples Peak didn’t teach, their master would teach those too.
“I understand. Thank you, Senior Brother.” Nangong Yu spoke earnestly. “But I can do it. I’ll go to class tomorrow.”
Her senior brother NPC had told her to take leave, which meant something must happen at Disciples Peak tomorrow.
There was no way a player could miss it.
“All right, then.” Faced with such a diligent junior sister, Xu Wanzhong felt a little sorry for her. After encouraging her a few times, he left.
Nangong Yu watched him go before entering her cave abode.
She placed the food from the dining hall on the table, but didn’t eat it right away. The first thing she did was take the Rejuvenation Art in her hands.
She steadied herself, sat down, and repeatedly changed the angle at which she viewed it.
When she turned it to a certain angle, green light flashed across the cover once more, and the character “Grand” appeared again.
“The Grand Rejuvenation Art,” Nangong Yu murmured.
As her voice fell, green light flashed across the entire cover. It surged outward like a tide, covering the whole book.
When the green light receded, the cover had already changed into the Grand Rejuvenation Art. There was no need to change the angle anymore. No matter how she looked at it, that was what it said.
Suppressing her excitement, Nangong Yu opened the cover.
The book was divided into two sections.
The first section explained the Rejuvenation Art, a technique used to restore a cultivator’s vitality.
When injured, one could use wood-element spiritual power to stimulate vitality and repair the damaged body.
The second section was an advanced version. What if a cultivator was too badly injured and ran out of spiritual power?
What then?
Borrow it!
Nangong Yu read on, her heart pounding. She couldn’t bear to blink as she turned the pages one by one.
But another question soon arose.
Whom should she borrow from?
The answer was: all things in existence.
If there were flowers, plants, or trees nearby, they were the first choice. They were the best match for a cultivator with a wood spirit root.
If there were no flowers, plants, or trees, then she could see what else was available. If there were spirit beasts, she could borrow from the spirit beasts. If there were cultivators, she could borrow from the cultivators.
When Nangong Yu reached this part, she nearly stopped breathing.
Borrow from cultivators!
How was this any different from the Star-Absorbing Technique?!
The entire second section only explained how to borrow. It didn’t consider what to do if the other party refused to lend anything.
“This is great!” She couldn’t bear to part with the book and hugged it to her chest.
The Ziyang Sect even had techniques like this!
Oh, and there was also the Burial Immortal Scripture, which was even more outrageous.
Even its name was suspicious. When she registered it, the administrator had recorded it as the Thick Earth Formula. Even Senior Brother Xu seemed to have seen the same name: the Thick Earth Formula.
Nangong Yu carefully studied the two arts.
The two cultivation methods shared certain similarities. Both involved taking from others to replenish oneself.
But fundamentally, they were different.
The Grand Rejuvenation Art forcibly borrowed the other party’s spiritual power to restore one’s own condition. However, just as its name suggested—“rejuvenation”—once the body’s functions had recovered, borrowing the other party’s spiritual power would no longer be useful.
Whether the borrowed power could simply be thrown away afterward still remained to be tested.
The Burying Immortals Scripture was far more overbearing. It didn’t care whether the other party was willing to lend anything, nor whether she could use it all up—it simply buried them.
If time was short, it buried them. If there was time to spare, it converted them.
Nangong Yu reflected deeply on her earlier prejudice toward wood- and earth-element techniques. She had assumed that spiritual roots of those elements would be gentle and mild.
“Just as expected of me.” She quickly grew proud again.
After all, she possessed both types of spiritual roots!
“Still not enough.” Once her excitement faded, Nangong Yu felt slightly dissatisfied as she hugged her two beloved manuals.
Both techniques were extremely powerful and highly distinctive.
But she wanted a technique that didn’t bother with twists and turns—just one move that would kill her opponent outright.
Yes, she had a quantum lightsaber.
She also had an electromagnetic cannon.
She even had an interstellar battleship.
She had antimatter annihilation bombs, zombie viruses, the Source of Pestilence, genetic collapse agents…
And yet she still felt that she had too few offensive options.
“When Master NPC comes back, I’ll ask him about it,” Nangong Yu muttered to herself.
A master, after all! He was an auxiliary NPC assigned to the player. Although using him poorly could easily lead to disaster, if used properly, he would certainly be very useful.
After setting an alarm on her optical brain, Nangong Yu began studying the Tidal Art.
She was going to class tomorrow, and there would definitely be people who disliked her. Mo Jiuyou, for instance, would surely try to test her strength.
If she could master the first form of the Tidal Art today, then if a fight broke out tomorrow, she wouldn’t have to waste any of her items—
The Tidal Art could be considered an upgraded version of the Water-Control Talisman.
The many talismans were part of the fortune Nangong Yu had accumulated earlier. Although she had quite a lot of them, if she could avoid using them up, then of course she would save them!
In the blink of an eye, the night passed.
“I’m making money, making money, and I don’t even know how to spend it…”
The alarm set on her optical brain rang five times before Nangong Yu finally sat up from the massage chair.
Her eyes were bleary with sleep.
Cultivators didn’t need to sleep, but Nangong Yu hadn’t gotten used to that yet.
After clearing her head, she pulled out a handful of spirit fruits. Eating as she went, she headed outside.
“Why are you here?!”
The moment she stepped out of her cave dwelling, she saw a dark figure standing outside.
It was four in the morning, and the sky had yet to brighten. Chen Zhi stood outside the cave in his sect robes, sword in hand. He respectfully replied, “To answer you, Little Grand Martial Aunt, this disciple is here to escort you to class.”
