"Miss, are we really just going to let this slide?"
Despite Liu Yutong's emphasis on following the rules, Yun Cheng couldn't shake off his resentment over what had happened that day. The incident involving their former boss had already become an insurmountable hurdle in his heart, and after spending so much time with Liu Yutong, he had vowed to protect her no matter what.
But today, things had nearly taken a disastrous turn. How could he possibly swallow this anger?
"Less trouble is better than more. I’ve never been one to hold grudges," Liu Yutong said, then abruptly changed her tone. "Within two months, I want them completely wiped out from Wushui County!"
Hearing the first part of her statement, Yun Cheng felt a pang of disappointment. He had expected such a response. After all, Liu Yutong was just a girl who had recently graduated high school—it was natural for her to shy away from violence.
But when he heard the second part, his head snapped up, his heart racing as he stared at her face.
Yes, this was the feeling!
Back when he had first followed their former boss, it was this same mix of confidence and dominance that had drawn him in. For a moment, Yun Cheng was utterly captivated.
Ma Da was equally fired up, sharing Yun Cheng's thoughts.
What kind of person just takes a beating without fighting back?
What thrilled him even more was Liu Yutong’s seemingly casual yet earth-shattering declaration.
This was nothing short of a declaration of dominance over Wushui County!
Truly, Liu Yutong was worthy of being called "Miss." She had inherited their former boss’s exceptional genes, her blood coursing with the ambition to rule.
Ma Da’s face flushed with excitement as he shouted, "Miss, just give the order!"
The others who heard Liu Yutong’s words were equally roused, echoing, "Miss, just give the order!"
Aside from the dozen or so core members who had originally followed Yun Cheng, the rest were students who had been in Wushui County for at least three years, if not longer. They knew exactly what the name Niu Ben represented in this town.
In Wushui County, Niu Ben was practically the underground king—someone no one dared to cross.
In the past, they wouldn’t have even dreamed of offending Crazy Dog Brother, one of Niu Ben’s lackeys.
But now, things were different. With Liu Yutong leading them and the backing of the Yilian Society’s senior members, they stood taller than ever.
Liu Yutong had always been incredibly generous to them, frequently treating them to meals and drinks, even handing out cash from time to time. Their loyalty to her was absolute.
Though she often insisted they weren’t part of the underworld and warned them against breaking the law, they had initially thought she was trying to go straight.
But after Ma Da explained her reasoning, they understood her true intentions.
She cared about them—she didn’t want to see any of her brothers suffer or end up behind bars.
Some of them had even teared up after hearing Ma Da’s explanation.
What other boss would show such concern for their lowly underlings?
Liu Yutong was the first!
She was truly the best!
And now, with her declaration to wipe out Niu Ben and his crew within two months, they were convinced—her earlier denials were just a front.
Not part of the underworld?
That was all an act!
The thought sent a surge of adrenaline through them, filling them with determination.
So what if Niu Ben was the underground king?
They’d take him down!
Liu Yutong found their enthusiasm a bit odd. Why were they so worked up?
Before she could say anything else, the sharp wail of a police siren cut through the air.
Soon, a patrol car with flashing red and blue lights screeched to a halt in front of them.
The door slammed open, and a young officer stepped out.
It was Qi Wei.
"What are you all doing here?"
Liu Yutong took a few steps forward, positioning herself at the front of the group. "We’re just having a company gathering, here to sing. Is there a problem, Officer Qi?"
Qi Wei’s stern expression faltered slightly when he saw Liu Yutong, his brow furrowing deeply.
He remembered this girl all too well—she had once brought a dozen thugs to the police station to check their criminal records. It was the first time in his career he’d seen someone voluntarily do that.
He had thought they were turning over a new leaf, but now, in such a short time, she had amassed a small army.
What was she planning?
Did she really intend to become a gang leader—a female one, at that?
The idea seemed absurd. After all, every major underworld boss was a man.
But the scene before him was hard to ignore.
He wasn’t blind—it was obvious these delinquents looked to her as their leader.
Qi Wei took a deep breath, his gaze locked onto Liu Yutong as he asked sternly, "We got a report about a brawl here. It wasn’t you, was it?"
Liu Yutong met his eyes with sincerity. "Officer Qi, you’ve misunderstood. We’re just friends here to sing."
Qi Wei scoffed, pointing at the steel pipes and other weapons in their hands. "You expect me to believe that? Who brings steel pipes to a karaoke session?"
Liu Yutong blinked innocently. "We heard this KTV was planning renovations, so we brought some tools to help out. Is that against the law?"
Before Qi Wei could respond, Liu Yutong raised a hand to stop him and called out, "Zhao Tianyi, come here!"
Zhao Tianyi hurried over at once.
Pointing at him, Liu Yutong said to Qi Wei, "If you have any further questions, please direct them to my lawyer."
Zhao Tianyi promptly pulled out his credentials and handed them to Qi Wei, speaking in a professional tone. "I’m Zhao Tianyi from Tianyi Law Firm, serving as Liu Yutong’s personal legal advisor..."
Qi Wei: "???"
Wait, since when did street thugs have such strong legal awareness?
For something this trivial, they even hired a lawyer?
With Zhao Tianyi’s intervention, the situation quickly simplified.
Calmly and methodically, Zhao Tiani laid out legal statutes and factual arguments.
Qi Wei’s frown deepened, his expression growing darker until, with a frustrated clench of his jaw, he signaled for his team to leave.
Without solid evidence and with a lawyer present, he knew dragging them to the station would be pointless.
Just as Qi Wei was about to get into his car, Liu Yutong called after him, "Officer Qi, I really am a good person!"
Qi Wei’s footsteps halted, but he didn’t even turn his head. Instead, he yanked the door open, slammed himself into the car, and drove off with a screech of tires, leaving a cloud of dust behind.
However, Liu Yutong’s shout had caught his attention, making him even more intrigued by this girl.
It seemed he needed to keep a closer eye on her.
The moment he returned to the police station, Qi Wei stormed into his office, dropped heavily into his chair, and barked at the door, “Little Li! Get in here! Pull up Liu Yutong’s records—fast!”
He already had a rough grasp of the backgrounds of those dozen or so thugs. After all, they’d been in and out of the station before—former members of the Yilian Society in Yun Cheng.
For some unknown reason, they’d suddenly relocated to Wushui County and started tailing Liu Yutong, a girl who had just graduated high school.
Before long, Little Li rushed in, panting, a stack of documents in hand. “Captain Qi, here’s Liu Yutong’s file.”
Qi Wei snatched the papers and began flipping through them.
The early details were unremarkable—just a rural girl from an average family, hardworking and academically outstanding, consistently ranking at the top of her class. His eyes even lit up when he saw her college entrance exam score: over 600.
That was high enough to get her into some top-tier 985 or 211 universities.
But when he saw the school she’d applied to, his eyes widened in shock.
“What? She scored over 600… and chose some no-name vocational college?”
“Is she out of her mind?”
