From the original owner's memories, Yunyang got her answer.
When pollution values fluctuate multiple times in a short period and exceed the critical threshold of 80, the optical brain triggers an alarm.
If they exceed the critical threshold of 95 multiple times in a short period, the optical brain will upload the data directly to the terminal, which then notifies the Male Management Center to send someone to bring the male under control in a timely manner.
Hadn't she just purified Qin Mo in the evening? How did his pollution values shoot past 80 again so quickly?
Could it be that her method of purification was flawed?
Yunyang fastened the last button of her top, then activated her optical brain to look up the cause of this situation as she made her way toward Qin Mo's room.
In the bathroom, after injecting his second suppressant, Qin Mo didn't dare let his thoughts run wild again.
He ran water into the bathtub and submerged his entire body in the cold water.
But barely had he gotten in before a knock sounded abruptly at the door.
Aside from himself, the only other person in the villa was his female master. She must have something to discuss with him.
Qin Mo sprang up, grabbed a towel from his space pod to hastily dry himself, and wrapped it around his waist before walking over to open the door.
He had known since his days at the Interstellar Male Academy that females were most drawn to males with great bodies.
His father had also told him that showing off his physique a little was a good way to boost a female's favorable impression of him.
In order to successfully form a bond with Yunyang, Qin Mo was thoroughly implementing what his father called The One Hundred and Eight Ways to Please Your Female Master.
While waiting outside the door, Yunyang continued checking the information on her optical brain.
The data indicated there were several possible causes. She hadn't finished scrolling through it when the door swung open.
Qin Mo appeared before her, wearing only a towel wrapped around his lower half.
His hair was still damp, water droplets trailing down his skin and sliding along the grooves of his abdominal muscles before disappearing beneath the towel.
Though he came from a military background, Qin Mo's muscles weren't bulky or overdeveloped—they possessed a perfect aesthetic balance, no more, no less.
Exactly the kind Yunyang liked best.
She swallowed hard. Qin Mo's typically sharp features now seemed to her to carry an inexplicable allure.
The male's pleasant voice cut through the air. "Female master, has something happened?"
Yunyang let out an awkward little cough, closed the light screen she had just opened, and forced herself to tear her attention away from Qin Mo's abs.
If she kept staring, she was afraid she might stop being a decent person.
"Um, I heard the alarm. Did your pollution values spike again?"
"Female master is worried about me?" Qin Mo suddenly smiled, a scattering of light hidden in his amber eyes. "Don't worry, female master. I've got it under control."
Meaning "under control" really meant they had indeed risen again.
Yunyang was puzzled. "Did I do something wrong during today's purification?"
It was her first time purifying a male's pollution values. She had strictly followed the tutorial on her optical brain, but maybe some details the tutorial didn't cover had gone wrong.
Qin Mo was silent for a moment. How was he supposed to explain a male's heat cycle to his female master?
Especially since this heat cycle had come early because he'd just been thinking about her.
Meeting Yunyang's beautiful eyes, Qin Mo didn't dare confess the real reason. "No, female master did wonderfully. After your purification, my pollution values dropped to 48. This is just a normal fluctuation."
What did "normal fluctuation" mean?
Yunyang looked confused. "Then... will you be affected? Do you need me to purify you again?"
The obvious concern in her voice nearly made Qin Mo lose control again.
The male took an inaudible deep breath before replying, "No, it's fine. It's late—let me walk you back to your room, female master."
Since he insisted he was okay, Yunyang didn't press further. She nodded and started heading toward her own room.
Qin Mo followed half a step behind her.
Even so, Yunyang's scent perpetually tested his self-control.
Luckily, their rooms were close by, and Yunyang soon reached hers. She turned around and gave him a smile.
Stealthily, she stole two more glances at his abs before saying, "Goodnight, Qin Mo."
"Goodnight, female master."
The door closed. Qin Mo stared straight at the wooden panel before him, his gaze burning as if trying to see through the door to the female beyond.
His female master really did like his body.
Yunyang thought she was being subtle, but nothing escaped Qin Mo's notice anyway.
And the overly heated gaze from her caused his pollution values to inch up just a little more.
Qin Mo glanced at the numbers on his optical brain—despite the two suppressants already injected, they were still as high as 75.
Damn this heat cycle.
Afraid of losing control again, he quickly turned and went back into his room, switching the soundproofing system back on.
In the next room, Yunyang curled up on her bed and opened her light screen again, poring over the information she hadn't finished reading.
Qin Mo had said his pollution values fluctuating multiple times past the 80 threshold was normal, so it probably couldn't be the first few possible causes listed.
She needed to do more research.
The text on the screen scrolled upward; soon a passage that hadn't appeared on the first page came into view—
"Pollution values that fluctuate multiple times beyond the 80 threshold without the use of abilities are one of the clear characteristic signs of the onset of a male's heat cycle."
Yunyang: "..."
She knew about heat cycles. It was similar to mating season that most animals went through every spring.
In other words... Qin Mo's heat cycle had arrived?
Yunyang continued scrolling. The information said that during the heat cycle, pollution values would keep fluctuating at a dangerously high level, and during this period, a female's mental strength would be unable to purify the pollution—only suppressants or physical bonding with a female could help.
Yunyang's eyes flew wide open. W-w-wait... this was something that could be written outright?
So the interstellar worlds didn't have content filters or anything like that?
Even though her own head was full of dirty thoughts, Yunyang was still taken aback by how direct the interstellar texts were. She hastily closed the information page and switched to browsing the interstellar network to distract herself.
It was only then that she received a reply from Yun Conglan.
[S-level? Yangyang, you are truly your mother's precious daughter!]
[Sweetheart, those beast-husbands of yours look quite good, but didn't you say before that you wanted just Weizhuo as your only beast-husband? Why did you suddenly have the Federation Marriage Center match you with five beast-husbands?]
Speaking of which, Yun Conglan was quite puzzled.
She and Weizhuo's mother, Wei Yashi, were childhood friends, and when they were both raising offspring, they had agreed: if the two kids grew up to be one female and one male, then they would be betrothed.
At the time, both of them had been joking around, since everyone in the Federation knew how hard it was to raise a female child.
But as luck would have it, the two children that came out of their incubation pods really were one female and one male. The families got along well, so the engagement was settled.
After both young ones reached adulthood, before Yun Conglan set off on a trip around the galaxy with her beast-husbands, she had filed a request at the Federation Marriage Center to formally establish the engagement between the two.
Little did anyone know, Weizhuo later got some crazy idea in his head, deciding that the marriage was holding him back from pursuing some "true love," and made an enormous fuss about breaking it off.
Her daughter had complained to her about it more than once, and finally she got so annoyed that she advised her daughter to just dissolve the engagement altogether.
And her daughter seemed to have a screw loose too, insisting she only liked that boy from the Wei family, and that he would be her only beast-kin mate for the rest of her life.
Yun Conglan couldn't understand it.
She wasn't one for blind devotion herself, so how did she end up with such a single-minded daughter?
