"Your turn to fly."
"Boring." Jiang Chengzhou rolled his eyes lazily, ready to close the window.
"Hurry up, or I'll send Su Li up instead." Su Lang threatened Jiang Chengzhou.
The corner of Jiang Chengzhou's mouth twitched. He closed the window and went downstairs.
Su Lang patted his son's head. "You're really useful, you know."
"Hehe." The little fool just giggled.
Although Jiang Chengzhou had come downstairs, he stood with Deng Jing and Su Jue, far away from the father and son.
Su Lang waved. "Come here. It's your turn to fly."
Jiang Chengzhou kept his hands in his pockets. "I'm not a kid anymore. I don't do this kind of thing."
Su Lang raised an eyebrow. "Hurry up. Anyone under sixteen is still a kid."
Jiang Chengzhou trudged over reluctantly.
Good thing Su Lang had never let his training slip over the years; he could still lift a grown boy.
With Su Lang holding him up, Jiang Chengzhou's face was a picture of total resignation.
Su Li ran behind them, still going, "Honk, honk, honk, honk, honk, honk, honk."
Deng Jing leaned against the doorframe, her stomach aching with laughter.
Su Jue patted her back, also struggling not to laugh.
Jiang Chengzhou was, after all, a big young man now. Compared to Su Li, he was much harder to lift. Su Lang held on for a while, treating it as a workout.
When he set him down, Su Lang was bent over, catching his breath.
Jiang Chengzhou patted him helplessly. "Uncle, you really don't have to treat us equally like that."
After all the torment from that rascal Su Li, Su Lang was now overflowing with affection for Jiang Chengzhou as his nephew.
Too bad his good intentions weren't appreciated.
Su Lang brushed his hand away irritably. "What's the use of raising sons? You can't count on either of them. From now on, your aunt and I will stick with Linlin."
When Su Li heard his sister's name, he hugged his dad's leg. "Sister fly."
Su Lang looked down. "Thanks, but your sister doesn't put up with this hardship."
Jiang Chengzhou: "..."
That was his uncle, all right.
With just one sentence, he could wipe out any guilt Jiang Chengzhou had just started to feel.
Sister wasn't flying, so Su Li pointed at the onlookers Su Jue and Deng Jing. "Love fly!"
Su Jue and Deng Jing pretended not to hear. They immediately went back to their room and shut the door, exchanging a relieved glance before both bursting into laughter.
Family activity over.
Su Lang sent Jiang Chengzhou back upstairs, then carried the troublesome kid to his room.
Lin Zhilan was already asleep. Su Li lay down on the bed and fell asleep instantly this time.
Though honestly, it might have been from dizziness.
Su Lang ignored him, climbed into bed, and pulled his wife close.
When they woke up the next morning, Lin Zhilan had a bit of a headache and a bit of a sore backside.
She vaguely remembered falling out of bed the night before. Burying her face in her pillow, she stewed in annoyance for a while.
Su Lang found it amusing. He sat on the edge of the bed and stroked her hair.
Lin Zhilan kept her face pressed into the pillow, only the tips of her bright red ears showing.
Su Lang gently traced a finger along the curve of her ear. With a teasing smile, he asked, "Still sore?"
He just had to bring that up.
Lin Zhilan turned her head and shot him an embarrassed, furious glare. "It's all your fault."
"Blame me, blame me," Su Lang said as he leaned in and placed a good-morning kiss on her forehead. "I made tomato and egg noodles for you and Second Sister-in-law. Get up and eat to sober up."
Lin Zhilan held out her arms to him, being completely unreasonable. "Dress me."
To Su Lang, a daughter being clingy and a son throwing a tantrum felt completely different.
When Linlin acted cute, Su Lang's heart melted.
When Su Li threw a fit, Su Lang just got a headache.
As for Jiang Chengzhou... Jiang Chengzhou usually only acted cute with his aunt.
But when his wife acted spoiled, it felt to Su Lang like honey in his heart.
Su Lang reached out, pulled his wife up, and turned to find her some clothes.
Everyone else had already eaten breakfast and was helping Deng Jing and Su Jue pack.
Xu Yueyun saw Lin Zhilan get up and asked with concern, "Headache?"
Lin Zhilan smiled and shook her head. "A little, but it's nothing."
"Grab something to eat. It'll help settle your stomach."
"Okay."
When Linlin saw her mother, she slid off her chair and looked up at her.
Lin Zhilan touched her little braids. "Did you sleep well last night?"
"Good~" Linlin nodded, her voice sweet and crisp.
Lin Zhilan kissed her cheek and whispered in her ear, "Second Aunt and the girls are going home today. You can bring out the gifts you prepared."
Linlin looked disappointed for a moment, but since she had been mentally prepared, she didn't start crying immediately. She went to her room to get the gifts.
Su Lang brought a bowl of noodles out from the kitchen and set it in front of Lin Zhilan.
Su Li, who had been bothering his second uncle, trotted over happily. "Mom!"
"What?"
"What are you eating?"
He asked on purpose because he wanted some too.
Lin Zhilan pretended not to get it. "I'm eating noodles. Tomato and egg noodles."
"Are they good?" Su Li persisted.
Lin Zhilan: "..."
I haven't even tasted them yet.
Su Lang chuckled from the side. "Don't mind him. He just ate not long ago. If he eats more, it'll upset his stomach."
Su Li clung to the table, drooling at the noodles in the bowl.
"..."
Jiang Chengzhou, as always, had a solution. He called out, "Su Li!" and tossed a beanbag.
Su Li's eyes lit up. He immediately ran to the yard to pick it up and handed it back to his brother.
Jiang Chengzhou threw it again. Su Li fetched it again...
Su Lang had an epiphany and learned another trick to walk the dog... walk the kid.
He handed the chopsticks to Lin Zhilan. "Eat up. You have a meeting in Yangcheng today. Later, I'll take you and Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law to leave together."
Lin Zhilan slapped her forehead, annoyed. "I almost forgot."
"Take your time. I'm keeping an eye on the time for you."
Lin Zhilan gave him a playful glance. "Not bad, my loving husband."
Loving husband indicated he was very pleased with that title.
After finishing her noodles, Lin Zhilan took out a medicine jar from the cabinet and pushed it in front of Su Jue. "Second Brother, the Chinese herbal medicine I prescribed you before—stop after one month. Then take these pills instead, one in the morning and one at night."
Medicine is three parts poison. Lin Zhilan had often made medicinal meals for Su Jue before, using food as medicine to nourish his body.
She had specifically adjusted the formula for these pills, discussed it with Chang San to make it gentler, with negligible side effects.
Some of the ingredients were quite rare, and this was all Lin Zhilan could manage.
Su Jue accepted them with immense gratitude. Being a man of few words, he simply kept this kindness in his heart.
Deng Jing, on the other hand, held Lin Zhilan's hand tightly, at a loss for words to express her thanks.
Lin Zhilan patted her hand, then turned to Su Jue. "These pills will last about a month or two. If they work for you, just send someone to the island to get more. I'll have them ready."
Since Su Jue's workplace required confidentiality, Lin Zhilan didn't ask for the address.
Su Jue smiled and agreed.
Lin Zhilan added, "I'm a doctor. Don't be polite with me about this kind of thing. Life comes first, right?"
Su Jue gave a wry smile. "I understand."
Lin Zhilan was putting in so much effort not just because they were her Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law. More importantly, because of Su Jue's work, he even had a bit of a halo in Lin Zhilan's eyes.
Linlin came out of her room with her hands behind her back.
