The World Arena wasn’t in any hurry, actually.
There were still too few people in it. If he entered now, there was an eighty percent chance he’d be matched against Dongfang Yuan again. They had just finished fighting outside, and now they would have to continue the battle inside.
The moment Dongfang Yuan entered, he saw the World Arena rankings. His eyes locked onto Ingrid, who was in first place. Somewhat excitedly, he clicked the “Start Matching” button!
It took nearly ten minutes before he was finally matched with an opponent. Dongfang Yuan immediately pushed open the door and walked in, brimming with excitement.
When he saw his opponent’s username, he grinned with satisfaction. It was none other than Ingrid, currently ranked number one in the world!
Qi Xu took out the Guild-exclusive “Training Arena” from the service area and carefully read through its description.
“Can be deployed in an exclusive location. Once successfully deployed, it creates a temporary barrier training arena with a radius of fifty meters. The inner wall of the barrier automatically generates a ‘Counterimpact Buffer Layer.’ All attacks within the arena will cause only physical pain and will not inflict actual injuries.
“A ‘Combat Power Measurement Crystal’ floats at the center of the arena. It displays a real-time comprehensive score of both parties’ strength, speed, and technique during combat.”
The moment Qi Xu had seen this item in the secret treasure-map realm, he had decided that he wanted it.
It was simply perfect for the guild’s current situation. Resources, guild membership, Survival Coins, and all kinds of supplies were merely external conditions. The most important thing was still one’s own strength.
Even the guild members who stayed behind to handle sales and diplomacy needed a reasonable level of defensive ability. As the guild grew, the chances of seizing guild territories would also increase.
“Slaughter Path” had already attracted the attention of the vast majority of players. It was hard to say whether the others might join forces to attack them, so many preparations had to be made in advance. The basic combat abilities of every guild member had to be raised first.
The Training Arena was deployed right in the center of the service area. After successfully setting it up, Qi Xu even took Wolf 009 inside to try it out.
“Come on. Copy my skill!”
Wolf 009 smiled. He was probably going to get beaten up again today, so he figured he might as well try launching a surprise attack first.
He teleported over. But by then, Invincible Black Whirlwind had already vanished. The next moment, a tremendous impact struck him in the back, and Old Nine flew toward the edge of the arena, his face filled with bliss.
The excruciating pain he had imagined never came. Instead, it felt as though he had slammed into a massive pile of cotton. Most of the force was absorbed, and after adjusting his center of gravity, he landed steadily.
Once Qi Xu understood how the Training Arena worked, he went off to handle other matters. Wolf 009, baring his teeth in anticipation, called Old Six over and had a proper fight with him.
Qi Xu took out three sets of pet battle suits and gave one to each of the three little ones. All of them could be designed and customized by their wearers.
The three little ones, in perfect unison, chose pink. Their outfits were covered in a chaotic assortment of glittering, adorable designs. Once they put them on, they no longer looked like pet battle suits. Instead, they looked more like miniature dress-up outfits for Barbie dolls.
Little Seven had already entered adulthood and had grown noticeably larger. When Little Seven wasn’t grinning, there was still a certain majesty to the creature. But after putting on this outfit, half of that intimidating presence vanished.
Rather than a combat pet, Little Seven looked more like a companion pet.
Sweet Girl was slightly better, since she was smaller to begin with. As for Nijiuj iu, it was so extravagantly dressed that it practically dazzled the eyes.
The child flew happily through the air, its entire body bathed in sunlight. The sequins on its pink battle suit refracted a rainbow halo like scattered diamonds. Even the breeze stirred by its flapping wings carried wisps of glittering pink light. From a distance, it looked like a flying, glowing ball of cotton candy.
These three battle suits had cost a total of 9,000 points, so naturally, they offered more than just a pretty appearance.
First was the most basic defensive function: they could reduce the effectiveness of an opponent’s incoming skills by ten percent. They could also provide three seconds of bodily invisibility, with the ability refreshing once every five minutes.
This feature suited Sweet Girl best. Combined with its own skills and repeated applications of the effect, it could practically remain invisible the entire time.
A tiny snake packed with deadly venom that could launch surprise attacks, turn invisible, and escape at incredible speed would certainly be a troublesome opponent for anyone.
Qi Xu himself was tempted by all the effects of the pet battle suits. He wondered whether humans counted as animals too, then tried putting one on himself. Unfortunately, it was completely useless. The game’s settings had perfectly prevented this particular exploit, leaving him not even the slightest loophole to abuse.
After a brief moment of disappointment, Qi Xu uploaded the special ingredient packages he had purchased into the guild’s supply warehouse. His contribution points rose by a considerable amount.
He also informed Chinese Master Chef that the ingredients could be claimed directly from the supply warehouse.
After taking inventory of and sorting out all of his gains from this trip, Qi Xu set off—to find the little goblin and bring Yingluo home.
Without his twin blades in hand, fighting felt like having both arms chopped off. He was incredibly uncomfortable.
Once he got his twin blades back, he was definitely going to the World Arena to have another match with Ingrid!
He had no idea that Ingrid’s confidence had already suffered a serious blow.
Were all the Chinese really this strong?
So the rumor from earlier in the Survival Game—that every Chinese person knew kung fu—was actually true!
It was one thing that she couldn’t beat Invincible Black Whirlwind. But this player, who had never even appeared in the global rankings before, was vaguely one point stronger than Invincible Black Whirlwind.
How was that even reasonable?
Ingrid couldn’t beat her. She simply couldn’t beat her!
Before she was dragged into the other woman’s domain, she could still faintly maintain the upper hand. But once her opponent activated her skill domain, Ingrid could barely fight back while being pummeled.
In the end, she lost in an utterly humiliating and thoroughly disgraceful manner.
Ingrid refused to accept the defeat. The moment she was ejected from the World Arena, she immediately used another ticket. By an incredible coincidence, she was matched with “Watch Me Cut You Down” again!
Ingrid wasn’t afraid of losing, nor did she care about the title of world number one. She only wanted to fight. In a way, that suited Sister Cut You Down perfectly.
And so, the two of them became locked in an unspoken battle. They spent an entire day at it without saying a single word, yet they gradually developed a strange understanding.
Regardless of who won or lost, the moment they left the World Arena, they would immediately click to enter the next match.
They matched against each other eleven times in succession. Dongfang Yuan won eight of those matches. Ingrid grew stronger with every defeat. The disappointment she had felt at the beginning disappeared, replaced by a faint sense that she was becoming addicted to getting beaten up.
Then, on the twelfth match, she discovered that her opponent had changed!
It was no longer “Watch Me Cut You Down.” Instead, it was “Song Peifeng.”
Ingrid was instantly devastated. She even began imagining all sorts of things. Had she… decided Ingrid was too weak and no longer wanted to fight her?
For a moment, Ingrid felt unbearably frustrated. Fortunately, Song Peifeng was also Chinese, so his strength shouldn’t be too bad. Hopefully, he wouldn’t make her ticket go to waste.
When the battle began, where was he?
She had just used her skill to lock onto Song Peifeng’s position. Before she could even launch an attack, the screen displayed two words:
“Defeat.”
Ingrid’s eyes widened.
Did every Chinese person start practicing kung fu from the moment they were in the womb or something?!!!
