After leaving, Blessed by Luck also sent a message, providing another 20 transfer cards. Qi Xu first gathered several War Wolves into a small group chat, including War Wolf 006.
"I've got news about War Wolf 008."
War Wolf Egg-Seven: "Ahhhh, my Eighth Sister!"
War Wolf 009: "That’s great! She was the one we were most worried about. Boss Whirlwind, which zone is she in?"
Qi Xu truthfully explained how War Wolf 008 had been enslaved before. The War Wolves grew visibly agitated.
Invincible Black Whirlwind: "Here’s my plan—you all move together. Use the transfer cards to go to Zone 08, Subzone 438, check on her, and bring her back. There’s a dungeon at midnight tonight, so try to return early and don’t miss the registration."
War Wolf 004: "Got it! Thanks, boss! Words can’t express how lucky we are to follow you."
War Wolf 006, sensing it’d be odd to stay silent while the others spoke, chimed in, "Yeah, that’s right."
The other three War Wolves squinted hard. "You might as well have stayed quiet..."
But knowing exactly what kind of person Old Six was, Qi Xu didn’t dwell on it.
After distributing 10 transfer cards among them, the War Wolves set off immediately.
Qi Xu then privately messaged "Watch Me Slice You."
After waiting a long time with no reply, he decided to use a location card to find her.
At first, Qi Xu worried something might have happened to Sister Slice, but upon arrival, he found her... locked in a fierce battle with a stitched-together monstrosity she’d somehow summoned.
Qi Xu didn’t rush in but positioned himself where Dongfang Yuan could see him, bringing Sweet Girl and Little Seven along to spectate.
Dongfang Yuan instantly gained confidence. Earlier, with no backup, she hadn’t dared to go all out, fearing she’d overextend. Now, she could cut loose.
The goblin blacksmith had crafted Dongfang Yuan a long saber—three inches longer than Qi Xu’s Sakura Drop, with a silver-purple blade and a hilt adorned with a purple tassel.
The weapon’s design emphasized agility, making it incredibly fluid in Dongfang Yuan’s hands. Watching her fight was mesmerizing—every slash and thrust brimmed with boundless energy, her movements swift and precise, the purple tassel fluttering behind her.
Sometimes, when her blade struck, sparks erupted like tiny fireworks.
After dragging the battle out for nearly 20 minutes, Dongfang Yuan single-handedly took down the monstrosity. Qi Xu clapped enthusiastically. "So cool!"
Then he realized... his clapping looked just like the two little seals...
"I woke up feeling super irritable, just wanted to curse at someone, so I opened a few monster crates. Now I finally feel better."
"Want to feel even better?"
Dongfang Yuan tilted her head in confusion.
"Chen Ronghua is in Zone 01, Subzone 01. Let’s go kill him together. I originally hired assassins, but this guy keeps using speed boosts to stay ahead. I figured we could mess with his plans while checking out this supposedly elite subzone. If there are any War Wolves there, we can bring them back too."
Dongfang Yuan jumped up excitedly. "Let’s go! Right now!"
"No rush. After the dungeon, we’ll prepare more thoroughly."
Dongfang Yuan nodded at everything Qi Xu said. "Okay, whatever you say."
Both worried about the influence of [Heart Demon’s Evasion], they agreed on their preparations over lunch before parting ways.
Qi Xu instructed Qiuqiu to prioritize buying protective items and death-prevention cards. After confirming all recent tasks were handled, he focused on traveling and opening crates.
A disaster that manipulates emotions and mental state would naturally rig crate luck to be terrible. Even prepared, Qi Xu was disgusted by the results.
In an entire afternoon, he only encountered four supply crates—all bronze-tier, the kind usually found in the first month of the survival game.
He checked with Bian, who reported the same—her best haul today was a single silver crate.
Even the Goddess of Luck was struggling. Qi Xu suddenly felt much better.
The chat had finally quieted down after the morning’s chaos—the troublemakers from Subzone 499, including 13 of their top 20 ranked players, were now all grayed-out names.
But after a day of terrible loot and few crates, frustration mounted, and by 9 PM, arguments flared up again.
Qi Xu skimmed through—none were serious, just petty clashes—then posted in chat:
Invincible Black Whirlwind: "[Heart Demon’s Evasion]—as the name suggests, it amplifies all negative emotions, making people irritable, impulsive, and quick to anger.
Don’t let emotions become strings that puppeteer your soul. Stay sharp, cut through the traps set by the heart demon, and overcome this trial."
After that, he ignored the chat. Those with sense would understand what to do. The fools wouldn’t, no matter what.
Sure enough, while most thanked Boss Whirlwind for the free intel, a player named "Standing Alone" sneered:
"Wow, so helpful. Easy for you to talk. When we followed Crushed Ice Lamb, she’d never let the zone fall into chaos like this. Stop showing off—it’s disgusting."
The replies that followed were nothing but a sea of question marks.
Finally, Old White Dragon in the Waves decided to vent by having a "friendly chat" with him.
Midnight arrived.
The eagerly awaited dungeon, [Animal Asylum], began on time. Though bloody and violent, the elimination rate in Zone 88, Subzone 666 wasn’t too high.
Aside from the horrifying finale, the rehearsal days were surprisingly comfortable—no fighting required, which suited most players.
Qi Xu kept an eye on the War Wolves. To avoid mishaps, he’d sent three together, but they still hadn’t returned.
Just as he considered asking contacts (or monsters) for intel, War Wolf 009 messaged:
"Boss, something unexpected happened. We fought our way in, but Eighth Sister didn’t come back with us."
Invincible Black Whirlwind: "What happened? Details."
"She was being hunted by over a hundred players from her zone. To escape, she probably hid in a special site or secret realm. We couldn’t reach her, so we left a coded note.
We also killed some of the ones chasing her. Turns out they’re connected to that guy you hired assassins for. After he died, his lackeys rallied under a new leader."
Still wanting to keep feeding on Old Ba, but Old Ba had been delayed for too long and was no match for them, so she’d been hiding everywhere lately. But don’t worry—just give her some time, and she’ll fight her way out. We’ve already taken out some of the stronger ones among them."
