At the edge of the poison zone stood an unfinished three-story building with no roof but plenty of cover. Though no figures were visible, the map showed four red dots above—all Killers, heavily armed, perfectly positioned to block the narrow passage. Several corpses littered the ground, both Killers and Survivors. Someone had picked the ideal spot for an ambush.
As soon as the temporary trio of allies approached the poison zone, gunfire erupted from the three-story building. The three were prepared, quickly retreating and exchanging glances before taking cover behind nearby barriers. There was no time to detour now, and the narrow passage meant they’d have to confront the four enemies above.
Qi Xu contributed her last poison grenade, hurling it toward the third floor.
"Bai Weifeng, your arm strength is insane! Your power stat must be over a hundred!" The young girl exclaimed, impressed. Qi Xu was stronger than she’d imagined.
If someone like this wasn’t from Zone 444, then… she must be from Zone 666?
Zone 666 really was full of elites. The girl clicked her tongue in envy.
"Just barely over a hundred. Get ready!" Qi Xu replied, her expression serious. In a battle like this, victory favored the bold.
Warwolf 007 didn’t join their conversation. The moment an enemy peeked out, he swiftly took the shot, eliminating one. Since the target had been ranked seventh, Warwolf 007’s own rank instantly jumped to first place.
Qi Xu, for once, had a lucky streak with her aim, taking down two enemies—though it was clear Warwolf 007 had let her have the kills. If he’d wanted them, she wouldn’t have gotten the credit.
Glancing back, she saw Egg-Seven grinning like a fool, clapping and giving enthusiastic thumbs-ups.
Qi Xu’s vision darkened. Now she understood why Warwolf 009 occasionally displayed a goofy side—it was definitely Warwolf 007’s influence.
The last enemy tried to flee the building but was quickly finished off by Warwolf 007.
The girl’s gun wasn’t suited for long-range combat, good only for intimidation. Unable to land a shot, she glared resentfully as the other two stole all the kills.
After this skirmish, her rank dropped to third.
Pouting, she shot Qi Xu and Warwolf 007 a dissatisfied look. What exactly am I getting out of this partnership? These two seem way too familiar with each other—are they messing with me?
"I lost my first place!" she roared.
Warwolf 007 patted her shoulder. "There’s still half an hour left, don’t worry. Later, I’ll—"
The girl instantly bristled, shaking off his hand and slapping at him repeatedly. "Don’t call me ‘little sister’! Stop acting so familiar! And don’t touch me! Who do you think you are?"
Qi Xu raised an eyebrow. "Little sister" is taking liberties? With their age difference, it’s a normal term. What’s the big deal?
Warwolf 007 chuckled awkwardly, withdrawing his hand and slapping it in mock punishment. His habit of being overly friendly was hard to break.
The safe zone still held plenty of players, most in groups. Lone wolves who emerged now would be instantly targeted.
Seeing the current top three—first, second, and third place—walking together, everyone else raised their guard.
But Qi Xu’s trio had no plans to fight further. They found a relatively safe spot, each facing a different direction, waiting for the game to end.
Qi Xu and Warwolf 007 even spotted familiar faces: Sister Cut You, Old White Dragon, and 009, ranked fourth, fifth, and seventh respectively.
Their eyes met briefly, but with an unfamiliar girl in their group, they chose not to acknowledge each other. In this game, caution was paramount.
Instead, they subtly adjusted their positions, forming a back-to-back defensive angle with the other team.
Qi Xu scanned the safe zone but saw no sign of Bian. A pang of worry struck her.
A battle royale really isn’t her style.
Thankfully, the game didn’t display player nicknames—otherwise, Bian would’ve been targeted from the start.
Bian’s smart. She’d definitely pick the red button. Even if she’s not good at combat, she’d find a way to survive. So why hasn’t she made it to the safe zone yet?
The more Qi Xu thought, the more agitated she became. Having someone to worry about really messes with your focus.
Though skirmishes still broke out in the safe zone, they were small-scale, and no one dared provoke the top three.
A new four-man squad settled nearby, resting but radiating hostility.
Warwolf 007 nudged Qi Xu, who nodded. After so much time in survival games, she could sense killing intent just fine.
To avoid retaliation, she guessed the squad was waiting for the final moments to strike.
When the one-minute countdown began, the girl suddenly asked Warwolf 007, "Why did you save me earlier? I’m broke—I can’t repay you."
"Saving people doesn’t need repayment. Bai Weifeng, switch spots with me."
Qi Xu shook her head. "Relax, it’s fine."
The girl turned to Qi Xu. "You’re definitely using a fake name. With your skills, there’s no way you’re just some nobody from Zone 666."
Qi Xu smirked but didn’t deny it. Instead, she admitted, "Sorry for lying. I’m Invincible Black Whirlwind, Zone 666’s top ranker. And you’re Fortune God’s Only Daughter, right? I’ve wanted to meet you—never thought it’d happen here. What a coincidence."
Fortune God’s Only Daughter’s eyes widened. "You’re Invincible Black Whirlwind?"
Qi Xu smiled faintly. She hadn’t been sure before, but the girl’s speech patterns, attitude toward the game, and even her temper matched the rumors. Now, seeing her shocked reaction confirmed it.
Warwolf 007 was equally stunned. Well, well—turns out we’re all acquainted! No wonder this girl’s so sharp-tongued. If she’s Fortune God’s Only Daughter, it all makes sense.
Every one of them had a mouth that could kill.
"How did you know it was me? How could you possibly—"
Before she could finish, Fortune God’s Only Daughter saw Invincible Black Whirlwind suddenly raise her gun. She recoiled, cursing furiously.
I didn’t even plan to kill you, and now you’re turning on me? Of course! It was all an act. The one time I trust someone, I get burned again! Damn it!
