Luckily, Qi Xu had Little Seven and Sweet Girl by her side, so this was a perfect opportunity to practice combat coordination. Normally, she wouldn’t get such a chance.
"Hey, you guys try locating 'Heroic Spirit.' Why can’t I locate him? His avatar isn’t grayed out either," someone complained.
Qi Xu frowned slightly, about to set off to hunt him down. She pulled out a tracking card and entered "Heroic Spirit."
The screen flashed a message: "Dear Plunder Card player, this target cannot be located at the moment. Please choose another. May we recommend the 'Top Three Weakest on the Leaderboard'?"
If someone couldn’t be tracked, they were either in a special zone or using some kind of item.
"Black Tornado: I was planning to take him out today too. Guess the guy really has some luck."
"Hey, I tried locating him at 6 AM and failed. Just tried again—same result. What’s going on?"
"Wolf 009: He probably expected we’d come for him. Someone warned him last night to watch his back."
With the gambling resource boxes being so hot right now, it wasn’t surprising he’d stumbled upon something if he had the right titles. The Road of Survival was never short on bizarre items.
"Qiuqiu, monitor Heroic Spirit’s status for me. Let me know the moment he’s locatable."
"Roger that!"
After lunch, Qi Xu noticed more monsters gathering outside her vehicle, some even crawling onto the windows. A massive black gorilla was slamming its fists against the glass, its grotesque face pressed against the pane, features twisted into a terrifying grimace.
Qi Xu yawned, ignoring it. She set the autopilot and decided to take a nap—rest was essential for fighting later.
Even though Qi Xu was ambitious, she still wanted to enjoy the fruits of her labor. A better quality of life meant more motivation.
Her Level 6 vehicle was practically indestructible against current-tier monsters anyway. Might as well plow through them.
Every kill counted.
A 20-to-30-minute nap was the sweet spot. Qi Xu set an alarm and woke up feeling refreshed.
She splashed water on her face and glanced outside—only to spot a parallel highway.
[Warning! Warning! A vehicle is approaching rapidly from behind!]
To conserve energy, Qi Xu had shrunk her vehicle to a third of its size. Now, it looked no different from a Level 3 or 4 vehicle—just a small van, really.
The pink decorations made it look cute and harmless.
But in Zone 666, pink was synonymous with extreme danger. Everyone knew better than to mess with it.
Still, this was a fresh merge...
Qi Xu slowed down and disengaged autopilot. It had been a while since she’d scavenged. Maybe today would be her lucky day.
Sure enough, a silver van soon appeared on the side. The moment it spotted her, it floored the gas and swerved aggressively toward her.
Then it slowed abruptly, forcing her to decelerate while flashing its taillights repeatedly.
The moves were smooth—clearly the work of a seasoned troublemaker.
After a couple of lane changes, the van pulled up beside Qi Xu’s car. "Roll down your window! Let’s chat! Make friends, yeah?"
Qi Xu eyed the van. It was a wreck—cracked side windows, a crumpled front end, obvious monster damage.
She suspected the driver was baiting her into a collision, like some kind of lunatic.
From past scavenging, Qi Xu knew lower-tier vehicles fetched less and less these days. This beat-up Level 3 van might only sell for 30 or 40 Survival Coins.
Hardly worth the effort. Besides, she wanted to test her vehicle’s weapons. A poison gas bomb seemed excessive—she only had eight, after all.
But a blank round? Perfect.
With a tap, she restored her vehicle to full size.
The van driver hadn’t meant anything too malicious—just wanted to show off his driving skills and maybe make a new friend.
He’d planned to use a Vehicle Repair Card anyway, so a few extra dings didn’t matter. And hey, a cute pink car? Maybe it belonged to a girl. More friends, more opportunities.
But then the "cute" pink car suddenly morphed into a behemoth, shoving his van toward the edge of the road. His heart nearly stopped.
He white-knuckled the wheel, barely avoiding the black fog. One more nudge from that monstrosity, and he’d be done for.
"Wrong! Wrong! No hard feelings—just wanted to say hi! Roll down your window!" he screamed.
Qi Xu couldn’t hear him. The soundproof, bulletproof glass blocked everything.
All she caught were muffled shouts.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Qi Xu wasn’t in the mood for excuses. Fresh from her nap, she was itching for action.
As the van slowed, she matched its speed, lined up her cannon, and fired.
The air blast launched the van skyward, tracing a perfect arc through the air. A bloodcurdling scream followed—then the black fog swallowed it whole.
Even the gorilla monsters chasing from behind froze. They exchanged glances, then turned tail and bolted without hesitation.
Yeah, no. This wasn’t a fight—this was suicide.
Qi Xu hopped out just in time to see the gorillas scrambling away in panic. She pulled her pistol and fired a few shots, but they didn’t even flinch—just kept running.
"Hey! Come back! What kind of monsters are you, running like that? How are you ever gonna kill players like this? I won’t use vehicle weapons—promise! Seriously!"
But her shots missed, and the gorillas vanished into the distance.
