The Eleventh Year After My Death

Chapter 68

"Did you forget what I said last night?"

The next morning, as she got into Shen Yihan's car, Lin Mo asked him seriously.

Shen Yihan held the steering wheel with one hand, sunlight streaming through the window and glinting off the black Buddhist beads on his wrist, casting a golden sheen over them.

He shook his head. "No, I didn’t forget."

How could he forget? He wouldn’t forget it for the rest of his life.

He had to write a thousand-word self-criticism for her!

But it wasn’t so bad—after all, his sister hadn’t asked their fourth brother to write it. She’d asked him!

Though he wasn’t used to writing such things and didn’t know how, Jiang Tang had given him some pointers.

"Good!" Lin Mo fastened her seatbelt with slender, fair fingers.

At the end of the day, her second brother was just concerned about her. She couldn’t possibly blame him for that.

The car drove smoothly along the mountain road.

Shen Yihan said, "Sis, I completely believe you now when you say you don’t like Gu Jingchuan anymore. But have you considered that Gu Jingchuan might still like you?"

Lin Mo shook her head. "You’re overestimating how charming your sister is. Sure, I am quite charming, but Gu Jingchuan is a top-tier movie star. He’s never short of women around him. Li Huanyu is plenty charming too—enough to make you infatuated, and Gu Jingchuan seems pretty taken with her as well."

Most importantly, those two were the main leads, destined to be together.

Her sudden return from the dead as the "white moonlight" might have stirred his emotions a little.

But yesterday, she’d seen how tightly they held hands—Gu Jingchuan had even been showing off.

At the mention of Li Huanyu and himself, a flicker of awkwardness crossed Shen Yihan’s face. "Well, I hope so."

The main reason he’d sent Mr. Xie over was to ensure Gu Jingchuan wouldn’t dare bother his sister again.

Gu Jingchuan should know better now and stay away from her.

"Do you still like Li Huanyu?" Lin Mo asked casually.

Shen Yihan shook his head vigorously, like a rattle drum. "No, no, not at all."

Lin Mo patted his shoulder, pleased. "Good. If you’ve got such an unforgettable memory, you might as well use it to memorize more English words."

Over an hour later, the two arrived at No. 3 High School.

Lin Mo had carefully considered transferring Shen Ji'an from No. 3 High to No. 1 High.

First, the academic atmosphere at No. 3 High was terrible. Even Mencius’ mother moved three times for her son’s education.

Second, the man who had bought Shen Ji'an and Auntie Zhen might still be lurking around this area.

No. 3 High and No. 1 High were in different districts.

Jingbei was a big city. The chances of that man finding Shen Ji'an again after transferring to No. 1 High were slim.

No. 1 High was Lin Mo’s turf. If that man dared show his face there, she’d make sure he never left!

By now, the second class of the day had already started at No. 3 High.

When they reached the principal’s office, they found the principal wasn’t in.

Shen Yihan waited in the office while Lin Mo decided to head to the school store for some snacks.

Having never spent time at this school, she naturally had no idea where the store was.

But by sheer luck, she spotted the green-haired boy she’d seen last time.

"He He'he!" Lin Mo called out to him.

The green-haired boy turned, his eyes lighting up. "Hey, pretty lady! What brings you back to our school?"

"Just here for some business. By the way, where’s your school store?"

He He'he pointed in a direction. "Over there. Want me to take you? Just buy me a pack of spicy strips in return."

Lin Mo eyed him. "Sure. But shouldn’t you be in class right now?"

He scratched his head. "I was late for first period. The teacher asked why I didn’t just wait till afternoon to come, so I figured I’d go back and come again in the afternoon."

Lin Mo: "..."

At the store, she bought a few packs of konjac snacks and a bottle of water-soluble vitamin drink.

For He He'he, she got two bags of fiery chicken strips and a cola.

As they walked out, He He'he said, "Last time you asked about our boss, right? Want me to take you to Class 1 to see him?"

Since she had nothing else to do, Lin Mo thought she might as well check on her fourth brother during class.

Remembering something, she asked, "Is there a red-haired guy in Class 1 who doesn’t get along with your boss?"

He He'he nodded. "You know about that? That redhead’s name is Wang Xing. He’s the principal’s nephew. None of us like him because he uses that connection to extort 'protection money' from students, demanding we hand over our pocket money."

"Some kids who don’t want trouble just pay up. The rest of us follow our boss and stand up to him!"

Lin Mo frowned slightly.

Had Shen Ji'an knocked out two of the principal’s teeth because the principal was shielding this red-haired kid?

Soon, they reached the door of Class 1.

Peering through the window, Lin Mo still couldn’t spot Shen Ji'an.

That didn’t make sense—he should be in class.

"Where is he? I don’t see him," Lin Mo muttered under her breath.

He He'he grinned. "Of course you can’t see him from here. The boss sits in the very back, by the wall near the rear door. Since he’s always late or leaves early, the teacher made him the 'door guard.'"

Lin Mo walked to the back door, which was open.

She peeked inside, sticking her head in slightly.

There, she saw Shen Ji'an sprawled across his desk, fast asleep. His deskmate, Huang Mao, was also dozing, their heads nearly touching.

The teacher at the front was lecturing passionately, while these two were busy meeting the Sandman.

No wonder Shen Ji'an only scored sixty out of seven hundred fifty on his exams. The environment wasn’t entirely to blame!

Lin Mo lifted her foot, about to stride in, when He He'he grabbed her arm and whispered urgently, "Hey, what are you doing? Don’t tell me you’re planning to wake the boss up! He hates being disturbed when he’s sleeping. Even Huang Mao, his closest lackey, wouldn’t dare. Last time the principal saw him sleeping, he pretended not to notice!"

Lin Mo shook her head. "I’m not going to wake him."

He He'he let go.

The next second, he watched as Lin Mo tiptoed inside—and promptly pinched Shen Ji'an’s ear with precision.
