Jiang Tang stared at the man in front of her, momentarily stunned.
The next second, her cheeks flushed crimson, and her heart raced wildly.
Why did Shen Yihan suddenly show up?
It was the middle of the workday, with people bustling in and out of the company entrance.
If anyone saw this, the whole office would be in an uproar today—no one would be able to focus on work!
She quickly took the bouquet and grabbed Shen Yihan’s wrist. “Let’s go inside first.”
The early winter morning was chilly; the sun had just peeked out, offering only a faint hint of warmth.
Her sudden grip sent a cold shock through Shen Yihan’s wrist, making his heart skip a beat.
What followed was a tingling sensation, like an electric current running through him.
Shen Yihan’s breath hitched slightly as his gaze fell on her profile.
The sunlight streamed over her, revealing the fine down on her clear, delicate face, almost shimmering in the light.
She looked noticeably thinner lately—too busy, no doubt.
He could feel a sharp pang of tenderness.
This was the first time he’d felt such care for a woman other than his sister.
They took the VIP elevator reserved for the president up to the office.
Only then did Jiang Tang release Shen Yihan’s hand and look up at him. “Why didn’t you give me a heads-up before coming?”
“Wanted to surprise you,” Shen Yihan replied.
Her pretty cheeks were still flushed.
The office heater hadn’t been turned on yet.
Instinctively, Shen Yihan reached out and gently rubbed her cheeks. “Cold?”
Jiang Tang’s face wasn’t red from the cold.
Now, her cheeks felt the warmth of his palm—his skin slightly rough from regular workouts.
That only made her face heat up even more.
She took a step back. “No, it’s not that.”
Only then did Shen Yihan realize he’d overstepped. He withdrew his hand and placed it behind his back, looking like a scolded schoolboy. “Sorry.”
She hadn’t even agreed to date him yet.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t had time to come to Jingnan—he just felt it wasn’t the right moment because Jiang Tang didn’t like him yet.
But after more than a month, he really couldn’t hold back anymore.
It didn’t matter if she didn’t like him yet.
He just wanted to come and see her. That was all.
Watching Shen Yihan’s little awkward moves, Jiang Tang suddenly found him kind of cute.
Is this what a kid who’s never been in love looks like?
She smiled faintly. “It’s okay, but I have to work during the day, Mr. Shen…”
Shen Yihan had taken the earliest flight to Jingnan.
He quickly replied, “I’ll wait here until you finish work.”
Jiang Tang had spent a long time with Shen Yihan before.
Now, being alone together in the office didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
She placed the flowers into a vase and noticed a diamond four-leaf clover bracelet inside.
A little surprised, her eyes naturally curved into a smile.
She immediately put the bracelet on her wrist.
Paired with the gold bracelet Lin Mo had given her, the combination was both elegant and professional.
Every time she received flowers or gifts, Jiang Tang would say how happy she was to get them.
But this was the first time Shen Yihan had seen her genuine smile with his own eyes.
Shen Yihan twirled a string of prayer beads on his left hand, his lips curling into a smile as well.
Before long, the assistant came in with some tea. “President Jiang! Oh! Mr. Shen, you’re here too!”
The assistant had witnessed Shen Yihan sending flowers and gifts for over a month.
Yet, he had never been seen in person.
She was beginning to wonder if the rumors online were true—that Mr. Shen was really a desireless Buddha!
Shen Yihan nodded lightly. "Oh, by the way, when you order meals for President Jiang, make sure to get her something nutritious."
It was clear he was worried because President Jiang had lost weight.
The assistant’s auntie couldn’t even hide her smile. "Got it, got it, President Shen. President Jiang only picks at her food every day. I’ll keep an eye on her and make sure she eats more."
Back when Jiang Tang was Shen Yihan’s special assistant, she took care of everything for him—his meals, clothes, and daily needs.
Now that he was showing concern for her, Jiang Tang felt a little awkward but warm inside.
Seeing the assistant’s intrigued expression as she left, Jiang Tang said, "President Shen, why don’t you come to my place and wait for me? I have a senior management meeting here in a bit."
Shen Yihan’s expression flickered briefly.
Was he not welcome?
He thought so silently but didn’t say a word.
Work came first in professional settings.
Besides, Jiang Tang inviting him to her home meant she was slowly accepting him, right?
Thinking this, Shen Yihan’s mood improved. "Alright, sounds good."
Jiang Tang gave him her home address and the security code.
Then the whole day was swallowed by work.
She worked overtime until nine o’clock at night and still hadn’t finished.
The assistant couldn’t stand it anymore. "President Jiang, did you forget something?"
Jiang Tang hurriedly checked her schedule and saw all the tasks were ticked off. "Did I?"
The assistant’s mouth twitched. "Well… President Shen…"
Only then did Jiang Tang remember Shen Yihan was waiting for her at her place. She touched her nose sheepishly. "I didn’t forget. I’m heading back now."
After wrapping up her work, Jiang Tang grabbed her coat and bag and left the office.
Her driver quickly took her home.
As she stepped into the elevator, Jiang Tang caught sight of her slightly tired reflection in the mirror.
After a full day of intense work, no one could keep their spirits high and makeup flawless.
She certainly couldn’t.
She tidied her hair and pulled out a lipstick from her bag to apply.
*Ding!*
The elevator arrived.
Jiang Tang stepped out and suddenly remembered something, frowning.
She had invited Shen Yihan over without much thought that morning.
She’d forgotten that her home was a mess because she’d been too busy to clean.
Clothes were tossed carelessly on the sofa, and shoes scattered everywhere.
She usually hired a cleaner once a week on Sundays.
Today was Friday, and no one had come.
Jiang Tang instantly regretted it.
Oh no, Shen Yihan was going to see her messy side.
She walked to the door, took a deep breath, and unlocked the fingerprint lock.
Pushing the door open, she was greeted by a living room that was spotless and as good as new, with a table full of food.
The tall, handsome man looked up at her, his eyes brightening. "You’re back."
