The Eleventh Year After My Death

Chapter 15

Jiang Tang had just hung up the phone when she saw Lin Mo walk out of the classroom.

Many students couldn’t help but glance her way.

The girl, her hair casually tied into a high ponytail, walked calmly under their gazes, her hair swaying slightly with each step. She carried herself with effortless grace, as if she were born to shine.

A slightly chubby boy trailed behind her, his face flushed red.

Summoning all his courage, he stammered, "Hey, um, which school are you from? Can I add you on WeChat? My name is Zhang Shuo."

The students nearby were stunned.

Wait, was this guy seriously trying to shoot his shot so openly?

Didn’t he know this beauty had a thing for Gu Jingzhou?

Where was the morality? Where was the decency? And most importantly—where was the WeChat QR code?!

Lin Mo was about to refuse—after all, she’d probably never see this boy again.

But before she could speak, Zhang Shuo leaned in with a grin and whispered, "I can keep an eye on Gu Jingzhou for you, y’know? Like, if anyone gives him trouble, I’ll let you know."

Lin Mo’s peach-blossom eyes brightened. It wasn’t exactly ethical to use him like this, but hey, he was the one offering.

She could always compensate him with a few red packets later.

"Sure," Lin Mo said, pulling out her phone and opening her WeChat QR code.

Zhang Shuo’s hands trembled so much he nearly dropped his phone.

He had never seen a girl as stunning as Lin Mo—it was like she’d stepped right out of an anime. He couldn’t help himself!

Someone like her probably just had to glance at her front camera when she was sad to cheer herself up.

Unlike him, who could be in a perfectly good mood until he opened his front camera and—boom—instant rage.

But he wasn’t some desperate simp. No, he was a warrior of pure love!

Jiang Tang frowned slightly as she glanced at her phone.

She’d heard about Lin Mo and Gu Jingchuan from Shen Yihan.

Shen Yihan had warned her not to bring up Gu Jingchuan around Lin Mo, lest it upset her.

Before, Jiang Tang had wondered why Lin Mo was so interested in investigating Gu Jingchuan’s younger brother.

Now it made sense—she was trying to get close to Gu Jingchuan through his brother.

After all, Gu Jingchuan was now a top-tier movie star, far beyond the reach of ordinary people.

First love really was something unforgettable, huh?

Overhearing the high schoolers gossiping about how Lin Mo liked Gu Jingzhou, Jiang Tang smirked inwardly.

These kids were stuck on the surface level. Only she saw the bigger picture.

As Lin Mo approached, Jiang Tang asked, "Still want to look around the school?"

Lin Mo shook her head. "No, let’s head back."

Two new contacts had popped up on WeChat.

Gu Jingzhou’s profile picture showed him holding a basketball with one hand, radiating youthful energy.

Zhang Shuo’s avatar was a cute cartoon of Crayon Shin-chan.

Shin-chan had already sent a message:

"Hey there! I’m Zhang Shuo. What’s your name?"

Lin Mo sent her name in reply, then transferred him 1,000 yuan.

"Please keep an eye on Gu Jingzhou for me—especially if anyone clashes with him!"

Zhang Shuo’s eyes nearly bulged out of his skull at the sight of the money.

Holy crap!

This goddess was crazy generous!

Forget being a warrior of pure love—he was now her most loyal servant!

"Got it! I’ll watch him like a hawk!"

As Lin Mo walked toward the school gate, she suddenly thought of something else and typed another message.

"Oh, and does your school have any notorious senior-year troublemakers? If so, send me their photos."

Might as well try this angle—maybe she’d get lucky.

Zhang Shuo replied almost instantly.

"Hmm, not that I know of, but I’ll ask around!"

Lin Mo: "Thanks!"

Zhang Shuo: "No need! It’s what this humble servant lives for!"

Lin Mo couldn’t help but laugh. "Hahaha, the bell’s ringing—better pay attention in class!"

The moment he read that, Zhang Shuo stuffed his phone away, sat up straight, and placed both hands on his desk.

If the goddess said to focus, then focus he would!

Once outside, Lin Mo got into the car.

Jiang Tang asked, "Anywhere you want to go? I can drop you off. I might not be able to stay with you much longer—Starlight Group’s holding a major meeting, and I… kind of want to be there."

The competition for the executive assistant position was fierce, and she didn’t want to fall behind on work.

While taking care of Lin Mo would definitely please the CEO, Jiang Tang preferred to prove herself through her performance.

The earlier call had been from the secretary, asking where she was—how could she miss such an important meeting?

Lin Mo knew she’d already taken up too much of Jiang Tang’s work time. Smiling, she said, "I’ll just go with you. I’ve never been to Shen Yihan’s company before."

She could tell—Jiang Tang was the type who thrived on work.

The drive from No. 1 High School to Starlight Group’s headquarters wasn’t long, taking just over half an hour.

When Lin Mo stepped out of the car, she was met with a towering skyscraper, its glass exterior shimmering under the sunlight.

At the very top, the words "Starlight Group" gleamed in golden letters, radiating prestige.

Honestly, it was only now that Lin Mo truly grasped the reality—her younger brother, Shen Yihan, was a bona fide CEO.

Back when their family’s company had just started, they’d only rented a five-story building in the business park.

Following Jiang Tang into the lobby, the receptionist greeted them with a smile.

"Good afternoon, Executive Assistant Jiang."

Jiang Tang responded with a cool, professional nod.

"Who is this?"

Seeing the exquisitely beautiful young girl accompanying Jiang Tang, the receptionist couldn’t help but ask.

Jiang Tang replied, "She’s a family member of President Shen."

It was a clever choice of words. If she had said "sister," no one would have believed it.

The term "family member" clarified her identity without raising unnecessary questions.

The receptionist would undoubtedly take it seriously and wouldn’t stop her next time she visited.

Lin Mo admired Jiang Tang’s quick thinking.

The lobby was bustling with people, and everyone who saw Jiang Tang greeted her respectfully.

Inside the exclusive VIP elevator leading directly to the CEO’s office,

Lin Mo looked at Jiang Tang with sparkling eyes. "Jiang Tang, you’re amazing!"

Jiang Tang instinctively shook her head. "Not really."

Lin Mo met her gaze earnestly. "You’re the CEO’s executive assistant—that’s equivalent to a general manager position within the company. And you’re only in your twenties! That’s seriously impressive! You should be more confident!"

Many people had praised Jiang Tang before, but she always felt she wasn’t good enough.

Her family had raised her with constant criticism, so she was used to downplaying herself.

But now, as she looked into the girl’s radiant eyes, an inexplicable surge of confidence rose within her. She smiled. "Yeah, I am amazing!"

This was the first time Jiang Tang had ever affirmed herself. It felt… surprisingly good.

Lin Mo grinned, her eyes curving into crescents. "That’s the spirit! Now sing with me—‘I’m the queen, shining with confidence~ If anyone dares talk nonsense, give ‘em a smack!’"

Jiang Tang’s lips twitched. "Let’s… not."

The monthly corporate meeting was underway, attended by all senior management.

Those on business trips participated via video call.

Since the meeting had already started, Jiang Tang needed to hurry. "I’ll take you to President Shen’s office to rest first."

Lin Mo tugged at Jiang Tang’s sleeve. "Jiang Tang, can I sit in on the meeting? I’ve never seen a corporate meeting before."

Mostly, she wanted to see what her supposedly "Buddha-like" younger brother was like in a meeting.

She was genuinely curious.

Normally, outsiders weren’t allowed in the conference room.

But the CEO’s sister didn’t count as an outsider.

Besides, Jiang Tang couldn’t refuse Lin Mo’s request.

The fair-skinned, luminous-eyed girl blinked pleadingly—who could resist that?

"Fine. Go in through the back door and sit quietly."

The large conference room’s back door creaked open slightly as a slender figure slipped in with exaggerated stealth, found an empty seat, and cautiously peeked out.

The room was massive, with a long central table filled with attendees.

Others, likely lower-ranking employees, sat on individual chairs scattered around.

All in all, the room was packed with over a hundred people.

At the head of the table sat a strikingly handsome man in a black suit, exuding an aura of icy authority. The black Buddhist beads on his wrist added an enigmatic touch.

A balding executive was presenting his report.

The man listened with an impassive expression, occasionally lifting his gaze to pin the speaker with a pressure-filled stare.

His voice was cold as he pointed out flaws with surgical precision.

The balding executive nodded repeatedly. "Understood, understood."

Lin Mo covered her mouth, eyes crinkling with amusement.

Wow, her little brother really nailed the domineering CEO vibe.

He was totally putting on a show!

No matter how important the meeting, there were always slackers.

Lin Mo hadn’t been sitting long before she noticed two people in her row huddled together, whispering like gossiping crickets.

Bored, she leaned slightly closer, eavesdropping.

"At the last executive meeting, I heard the CEO left early. Wonder if he’ll do the same today!"

"It was because of Li Huanyu! Rumor has it he cleared out Starlight Plaza just to take her shopping!"

"Ugh, so jealous! Can I please live a few chapters of Li Huanyu’s life?"

Lin Mo frowned.

So Shen Yihan had left a high-level meeting just to go shopping?

Couldn’t he have waited until after the meeting?

Her fists clenched in irritation.

Just then—

A familiar ringtone, the kind reserved for "special contacts," chimed from the front of the room.
