Shu Yu was holding her phone, replying to Ye Ning.
A Little Fish Swimming: That's great, I hope he finds his sister soon.
Golden Corn: I'm really curious about who Song Wenzhao's sister is. My mom said I once drooled all over Song Wenzhao's sister's face, and her name has the same character "Yu" as yours.
Golden Corn: Such a coincidence, Yu Bao. Are you sure you're your parents' biological child?
A Little Fish Swimming: Ah, I guess I should be.
Shu Yu had never actually doubted this before.
Golden Corn: I mean, your parents don't seem to treat you all that well. What if you were adopted, and what if you turned out to be Song Wenzhao's sister after all?
Shu Yu: ...(⊙o⊙)…
Ningning was really letting her imagination run wild.
But since she herself had ended up in a completely unfamiliar world, Ye Ning's audacious thinking didn't seem so far-fetched after all.
A Little Fish Swimming: That's not possible, though.
She wasn't even from this world, so how could she have any connection with anyone here?
Song Wenzhao waited half a month without seeing Shu Yu leave the house. Once again, he suspected Si Yiheng of unlawfully confining Shu Yu.
Just as he was growing suspicious, Song Wenzhao saw Si Yiheng come home, and Shu Yu rushed over to him, throwing her arms around his waist.
The butler said, "Master, Si Yiheng probably wouldn't do something like that. You can see Miss Shu Yu is doing just fine now."
Song Wenzhao's mood only darkened further.
Even though he was still some distance away from the two of them, he could feel just how happy Shu Yu was. She was holding Si Yiheng's waist, tilting her pretty face up, saying something to him.
Song Wenzhao said, "She was always meant to live well."
The butler: "..."
But there was no chance to get close to Miss Shu Yu now, let alone take her home for a DNA test.
And Miss Shu Yu wasn't stupid. Now that she had a boyfriend who protected her, why would she easily trust a stranger?
The butler was mentally figuring out how to arrange a proper meeting between Song Wenzhao and Shu Yu when Song Wenzhao suddenly said, "Prepare a gift for me. I'm going to attend old Master Si's seventieth birthday celebration."
Old Master Si's seventieth birthday would surely be a grand affair.
If Si Yiheng truly cared about Shu Yu, he would definitely bring her to the banquet.
As a guest, he could meet Shu Yu on legitimate grounds, get a strand of her hair to prove their blood relation, and then take her home.
Si Yiheng had been feeling like someone was watching his every move lately, even staking out his home with Shu Yu.
While cooking, Si Yiheng asked Shu Yu, "Yu Bao, have any strangers knocked on the door while you were home?"
Shu Yu thought for a moment. "I heard someone, but I didn't open the door. The facial recognition only lets you in."
Besides Si Yiheng coming in from outside, no one else ever visited. If Ye Ning were coming, she would have told her first.
Si Yiheng was even more certain that his instincts were right.
He ruffled Shu Yu's fluffy hair. "Mm, don't let anyone in. Remember to call me if anything happens."
Shu Yu looked up at him. "I know. I'm not stupid."
Si Yiheng's lips curled slightly. "I know, Yu Bao isn't stupid."
After dinner, Shu Yu put away the dishes and headed upstairs.
She was a bit excited today, because her manga update had reached a really delicious plot point, and she wanted to go back and draw more content to enjoy it.
Seeing Shu Yu in a hurry, Si Yiheng grabbed her wrist. "Yu Bao, not going to hug me today?"
Shu Yu came back and gave him a quick hug. "Brother, I'm busy today. Don't cause any trouble."
Si Yiheng: "..."
He calmly looked down at her lips. "Just hugs, no kiss?"
Shu Yu was a little impatient. She stood on her tiptoes, ready to peck his cheek, but Si Yiheng turned his head slightly, and Shu Yu ended up kissing him directly on the lips.
Shu Yu: (⊙o⊙)?
Such a sly move.
She gave him a couple of quick, careless kisses, then turned and ran off. "Next time."
Next time, she'd wear him out kissing.
Si Yiheng watched her disappear up the stairs, then pulled out his phone to check today's update on the manga she was drawing.
He saw the latest panel: a man's rough fingers, as if stroking something precious.
Si Yiheng was no longer the naive beginner he once was.
He had long since learned to read between the lines.
Seeing the image, he understood it was a metaphorical scene.
This was probably touching...
A faint, barely noticeable flush crept over Si Yiheng's cold white ears.
That night, Si Yiheng saw another update on Shu Yu's social media.
It was an image of fingers peeling an orange. The fingers, wearing a plain band ring, moved clumsily as they pried open the orange's skin. Since the fingers weren't nimble, they kept poking into the orange segments.
Because the orange's flesh clung tightly to the rind, peeling was difficult, and the person wasn't skilled at it, leaving orange juice everywhere.
It was a full-on massacre scene.
Shu Yu had captioned the image.
Fish Bait: The ring is the waterline!
Si Yiheng looked down, pressing his lips together, holding back a smile. A ring... as a waterline?
He and Shu Yu were still missing a pair of rings. It made sense that couples in a relationship would need rings.
For days, Shu Yu was still reveling in that "delicious" plot point. This was what life was all about, savoring moments like these.
Just thinking about the couple deeply in love made Shu Yu happy.
She happily went to the study to draw, and then she noticed a box on the desk. Si Yiheng never hid his things from her, and he had told her she was welcome to check his stuff anytime.
Out of curiosity, Shu Yu opened the box and found a pair of plain band rings inside.
Iron Egg: Baby, is the ring the waterline?
