Sanzi, the one people were talking about in the public chat, was one of those big-name streamers too.
Ji Zhaoxi had been incredibly popular before, and that was when she met Sanzi. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Sanzi invited her to join the big streamers’ group matches.
But later, when her popularity declined, those big-name streamers stopped inviting her to PKs…
They were unbelievably snobbish!
“Everyone, don’t fight. We’re here to have fun watching the stream, right?”
Ji Zhaoxi remained aloof, though a faint smile appeared on her face.
[ Goddess, can you always stay like this? I love watching you act so cold. Don’t change, okay? [crying] ]
[ I love every version of Xixi! ]
[ Baby can be whatever she wants. Who says she has to act a certain way? ]
Ji Zhaoxi stared silently at the public chat. Why were they fighting again? Her fans seemed capable of starting an argument anytime, anywhere.
At that moment, a huge wave of CP fans flooded into Sanzi’s livestream.
Sanzi was an “abstract” streamer with a massive following, most of whom were there simply for the entertainment.
[ Ji Zhaoxi is streaming. Can you connect with her? ]
[ Go on, Sanzi. It’s been ages since we’ve watched you two do a PK… ]
[ Sanzi, your goddess is streaming! ]
[ Are you going to keep pretending you didn’t see it? ]
Sanzi raised an eyebrow as he glanced at the public chat. “My goddess is streaming? Then let’s connect for a round. It’s been a long time since I’ve battled her.”
He opened his list, found Ji Zhaoxi’s name, and sent her a PK invitation.
The system immediately showed that he had been rejected.
Sanzi scratched the back of his head. “Brothers and sisters, it’s not that I don’t want to PK with her. She rejected me outright.”
He tried inviting Ji Zhaoxi again, only to be rejected once more.
Another horde of troll accounts appeared in Ji Zhaoxi’s livestream.
[ Sanzi, look for her! ]
[ Sanzi, look for her! ]
[ Sanzi, look for her. Xixi, can you grant us this wish? I really miss that summer when you two used to PK together [sobbing] ]
[ Four minus one is looking for you, baby. ]
[ Sanzi is looking for you, baby. ]
Ji Zhaoxi’s lips twitched as she stared at the screen full of symbols.
Another PK invitation from Sanzi arrived. Ji Zhaoxi glanced at the number of viewers in his livestream—over a hundred thousand—and her finger paused just before she rejected it.
“Long time no see, Ji Zhaoxi.”
Sanzi smiled brightly, acting as though he had no idea how many times she had rejected him just now.
“Long time no see, Sanzi.”
Ji Zhaoxi smiled, her eyes fixed on the viewer count in the upper-right corner.
Two thousand viewers flooded into the livestream in an instant.
“Want to play a round of PK? If you lose, we’ll pretend to be a couple,” Sanzi said, leaning back in his chair with a grin. “Looks like they really enjoy shipping us.”
Ji Zhaoxi refused. “Let’s skip the fake-couple act. We can play a round of PK, but let’s compare—”
Before she could finish, her score bar was suddenly overwhelmed.
[L sent ten Carnival gifts]
Ji Zhaoxi: …
[???]
[@L, are you an idiot? Xixi already said she didn’t want to play!]
[@L, if you’ve got something wrong with your head, go get it treated!]
[Who cares? Just play! If we win this time, none of you are allowed to connect with Xixi for a PK again!]
[All students, spend all the pocket money you were saving for spicy snacks next month on Xixi!]
[Stop boosting the other side’s morale and undermining our own! It’s not like we can’t beat them. So what if they took the lead?]
Sanzi was silent for a moment. “Then let’s begin.”
After the PK started, Ji Zhaoxi coughed lightly as she looked at the public chat. “It’s okay, everyone. Spend within your means. Students, please save the money you’d use to buy snacks.”
“But!”
Ji Zhaoxi was furious. “L, if you like pretending to be a couple with him so much, go do it yourself!”
L usually sent her special effects featuring Zhu Bajie, but today he had actually sent her Carnivals.
L’s paid message drifted slowly across the public chat.
Ji Zhaoxi had set up paid messages because she found L extremely annoying. Every time he wanted to post a message, he had to pay for it.
[L: If you win, I’ll unfollow both of you for fifty years.]
Ji Zhaoxi smiled politely. “Win first, then talk.”
This L was just as annoying as Lu Huainan.
The score bar on Sanzi’s side surged forward again.
Sanzi sat in his chair, frowning tightly. “Do we have any more big brothers or sisters? The other side will definitely catch up. Send another twenty Carnivals and keep the score pinned down!”
“If you can’t afford Carnivals, can everyone in the room send at least one airplane? There are so many of us. Beating her will take only a few minutes.”
“Big brothers and sisters, if we win, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll even let you arrange whatever fake-couple act you like.”
As gifts filled the public chat, a hint of smugness appeared in his eyes.
There were still more than three minutes left in the PK, and he continued urging his fans to send gifts.
“They’re definitely going to catch up. If you don’t have much money, send little hearts! This is the moment to show how united our family is!”
“If you don’t act now, when will you? There’s been some friction between our side and theirs. Everyone knows that. If we lose this time, what will the other fan groups think of us?”
“We’re one big family. Can everyone contribute a little to this family? Don’t always make the big spenders carry everything by themselves. They work hard too!”
At that moment, Ji Zhaoxi was secretly taking notes.
The other livestream was playing an intense DJ track. Sanzi gripped his microphone tightly and shouted at the top of his lungs, his entire face flushed red.
“Family, I believe in you! Our family has never let me down! Let’s go!”
Ji Zhaoxi listened for a while before muting Sanzi’s microphone. The livestream instantly fell silent.
“Everyone, don’t send any gifts. Let L do it. He has money anyway.”
“Students, keep your snack money. Working people, keep your salaries too. Just let this L guy handle it!”
With two minutes left in the PK, the public chat settled into a strange peace.
[There are too many big spenders on the other side. We students are stepping back for now. I’ll come back when it’s time to insult them.]
[Sanzi recently poached three big-spending female fans from Qin Zhen’s livestream and even made the trending searches…]
[Don’t say that in the public chat. Someone’s watching.]
[So what if we say it? His top five supporters are all women he poached from other streamers. Xixi, you should go poach some big sisters too. The male streamers do it secretly all the time anyway.]
Ji Zhaoxi stared at the public chat, wide-eyed. How was she supposed to poach fans? She did kind of want to try.
As she watched, she suddenly noticed that Sanzi’s PK score had surged ahead again. She was furious.
“Where’s L? Don’t tell me you can’t beat him?”
If he couldn’t win, why had he been showing off?
With one minute remaining in the PK, Ji Zhaoxi’s score bar suddenly shot forward and completely crushed the other side.
The PK ended.
The livestream fell silent.
On the other side, Sanzi still hadn’t processed what had happened. He cried out in anguish, “There are still fifty-eight seconds left! Their side always loves making a last-second comeback! Their big spenders haven’t even started sending gifts yet, everyone!”
“Sanzi hardly ever begs you for anything. Please, everyone, I’m begging you this time! Empty your pockets if you have money! Sanzi is only asking this once!”
[The PK’s over…]
[They crushed us [helpless]]
[There’s nothing we can do.]
[They did that with one minute left? Were they deliberately messing with our heads? Can’t they take losing?]
Sanzi stared blankly at the “PK Defeat” displayed on the screen, his hand still frozen in the position it had just been in.
What’s going on? Shouldn’t there still be more than forty seconds left?
