Ji Zhaoxi felt embarrassed to disturb him, but after waiting for a while and seeing that he still hadn't noticed her presence, she reached out and gently poked him.
Xie Qingyan slowly opened his eyes. He looked at Ji Zhaoxi quietly without speaking.
Ji Zhaoxi also looked at him with a puzzled expression. Did Xie Qingyan recognize her in his spiritual consciousness?
It was also her first time entering someone else's spiritual consciousness.
Ji Zhaoxi cleared her throat and threatened, "I am a vengeful spirit. If you don't completely scatter my soul, I will slaughter the entire Qingxi Town! When that happens, you will be an accomplice to evil and the sinner of all Qingxi Town!"
Looking at Xie Qingyan, her voice softened again. "If you kill me, you'll be eliminating a menace for the people. You'll be the benefactor of the entire Qingxi Town."
She looked at Xie Qingyan expectantly.
Xie Qingyan just watched her quietly. Seeing that she had finished speaking, he finally opened his mouth, "Miss, I am in my own spiritual consciousness, I haven't lost my memory."
Ji Zhaoxi's eyes lit up. "Are you saying that if you lose your memory, you'll kill me?"
Xie Qingyan shook his head.
Ji Zhaoxi sighed and lay down on the ground, feeling depressed.
Seeing Ji Zhaoxi so persistent, Xie Qingyan hesitated and asked, "Miss, why are you unwilling to let this poor Daoist help you cross over?"
"You are kind-hearted. In your next life, you will surely be born into a good family, free from worries about food and clothing, and you won't have to fight with other wandering ghosts for wish energy like you do now."
Ji Zhaoxi remained silent.
Xie Qingyan sighed. "Miss, being a ghost means freedom, but it's also easy to be bullied by malicious spirits. If you are too soft-spoken, you won't even be able to snatch ordinary wish energy."
"The living fear ghosts even more. They frequently hire Daoist priests and exorcists to drive ghosts away. When that time comes, you'll have to hide everywhere. If they are righteous cultivators, they will catch you and send you straight to cross over. If they are not righteous, you'll be turned into a puppet once caught."
Hearing this, even Ji Zhaoxi wanted to go and cross over.
But she wasn't a real ghost; she was a ghost with a mission.
She shook her head again.
Seeing her so stubborn, Xie Qingyan stopped trying to persuade her.
Ji Zhaoxi played around nearby for a while, then suddenly thought of something. "Daoist Xie, aren't all you Daoist priests supposed to know how to set up formations? Yet, I entered your spiritual consciousness so easily."
She kindly reminded him, "You need to be more careful from now on."
Xie Qingyan finally realized something was amiss and asked her, "Miss, how exactly did you enter my spiritual consciousness?"
"By lying on top of you, of course," Ji Zhaoxi said righteously. "Then I just came straight in."
Xie Qingyan was silent for a moment. "Miss, it is improper for men and women to be so physically close."
"But I'm a female ghost."
Ji Zhaoxi sighed. "Since you won't kill me, I guess I'll just go bully someone else."
Xie Qingyan suddenly spoke, "Miss, are you hungry now?"
Ji Zhaoxi nodded.
Xie Qingyan looked at her quietly. "It will be dawn soon. I will draw a talisman for you in a little while."
"Okay!"
As soon as day broke.
Squire Zhao came running over with a miserable face. Tears kept falling as he cried, "Daoist Xie, yesterday afternoon there were so many female ghosts crying on the mountain. What should we do?"
Nearby, Ji Zhaoxi, who was currently absorbing wish energy, guiltily turned her back.
Xie Qingyan glanced at her and said to Squire Zhao, "There is no aura of malicious spirits on the mountain. It was probably just some wandering ghosts who felt wronged and wanted to vent their grievances."
"As long as you stay away from that mountain from now on, you will be fine."
Squire Zhao quickly waved his hands. "I'm never going back there, never again. Just thinking about that wailing kept me awake all night."
A young servant standing next to him shot him a resentful look.
How could Squire Zhao say he didn't sleep well? His snoring was louder than thunder. It was the servant who hadn't slept a wink all night listening to that snoring.
After finishing absorbing the wish energy, Ji Zhaoxi ran off to the village to complete her grand mission of bullying people.
Her target finally appeared.
The thief who stole the old lady's peach tree.
He was looking around shiftily, clutching something in his arms, terrified of being discovered.
Ji Zhaoxi wanted to make him lose his way. A thick wave of ghostly energy suddenly enveloped his face. The thief let out a confused sound, touched his face, and then continued walking forward, looking puzzled.
Ji Zhaoxi stared at him in utter bewilderment. What was going on? Why didn't her ghost energy disorient him?
Ji Zhaoxi then tried to knock the thing out of his pocket, but her hand passed right through him.
Ji Zhaoxi looked at her own hands in disbelief, her eyes immediately turning red. How could this be?
She then went to try and inhale the essence of the meat from the neighboring aunt's house, but she couldn't extract anything at all.
Ji Zhaoxi's world collapsed. She sat by the river, crying out her grievances.
A little ghost boy was attracted by the sound of her crying. He sat down next to her and looked at her curiously. "Big sister, you sing really well."
Ji Zhaoxi wiped her tears. "I'm not singing, I'm crying."
The little ghost boy looked sincere. "You cry really beautifully."
Ji Zhaoxi kept crying. Fearing she might become the first ghost in the world to cry herself to death, the little ghost boy asked her, "Big sister, what happened?"
Ji Zhaoxi told the little ghost boy what had just happened, saying she didn't know what was wrong with her ghost energy and that she could no longer bully ordinary people.
Hearing this, the little ghost boy turned pale with fright. "A ghost that can't bully people? What meaning is there left in her ghost life?"
Ji Zhaoxi felt even sadder.
The little ghost boy pondered with a serious face. "But how could your ghost energy just disappear? Why don't you try attacking me to see if you still have any ghost energy?"
Ji Zhaoxi hesitated. "I don't want to bully a child."
The little ghost boy smiled. "Then I'll bully you."
Ji Zhaoxi choked up. "Fine."
Ji Zhaoxi stood in front of the little ghost boy. She felt the energy in her body, and that energy began pouring out endlessly. A withered, black hand suddenly appeared behind her and slammed fiercely onto the little ghost boy's head.
Instantly, the little ghost boy let out a shriek. The pale green ghost fire on his body frantically surged toward her. The little ghost boy struggled madly, screaming uncontrollably.
Ji Zhaoxi was also startled and immediately spat him back out.
A ghost's face is naturally pale, but at this moment, the little ghost boy's face had turned from white to a sickly green. Ji Zhaoxi looked at him, completely at a loss, and tried to give him CPR.
It took a long while for the little ghost boy to wake up. As soon as he woke up, he started bawling. Seeing Ji Zhaoxi continuously thumping his chest, he cried even louder.
"My soul was almost scattered, and you're still punching me!"
Ji Zhaoxi hurriedly explained, "No, no, I'm trying to save you!"
The little ghost boy cried for a long time before he finally recovered. He sobbed, "Does that even work?"
Ji Zhaoxi shook her head. "It should work, right?"
Actually, she didn't know either, but she really didn't know how to save a ghost.
The little ghost boy floated in the air and wiped his bloody tears. "Well, you can rest easy now. Your ghost energy hasn't disappeared."
"I have to go back now. My mom is still waiting for me."
Ji Zhaoxi looked at him in confusion. "You're dead, but you still have a mom?"
The little ghost boy nodded. "My mom died together with me."
He glanced at Ji Zhaoxi. "Not everyone is a wandering orphan ghost like you."
Ji Zhaoxi: ...
