Song Xinya and Qin Yuhe left the Qin family’s old residence and headed to the office.
At the elevator on the eighth floor, they waved goodbye before going their separate ways.
The moment Song Xinya stepped into the office, the buzzing chatter of the crowd came crashing down on her. It felt like she had walked into a wet market.
Dong Dongdong, who ranked third in performance, came over. “Teacher Song, have you heard? President Zhao was fired.”
Song Xinya said, “I heard.”
She had heard it earlier than anyone else—she had known since last night.
Dong Dongdong wasn’t concerned about Zhao Yinian being fired.
Zhao Yinian was sharp-tongued and vicious, loved gossiping and stirring up trouble, was narrower-minded than a pinhole, and had more schemes than a pineapple had eyes. Everyone was delighted to see her go. It was a wonderful occasion.
What Dong Dongdong cared about was this: “The Gold Medal Instructor selection is about to begin. With the company’s general manager suddenly out of a job, what criteria are they going to use to select the Gold Medal Instructor?”
Previously, the standard had been simple: whoever ranked first in performance would become the Gold Medal Instructor.
Now, however, the selection would no longer be decided internally by the company. Instead, it would be conducted by the International Education and Training Association, with the final score determined by both work performance and an on-site speech.
Everyone knew that Chen Siyan ranked first in the company’s performance results. Under the old rules, there was no doubt he would be selected as the Gold Medal Instructor.
The new rules gave Song Xinya and Dong Dongdong a chance.
No matter how slim the chance was, it was still better than having none at all.
Dong Dongdong valued this opportunity immensely and was afraid the selection criteria might revert to the old system.
Song Xinya felt more or less the same way.
But the final decision would not be made by minor employees like them. It would be made by the higher-ups at the group headquarters.
Song Xinya said, “We’ll take things one step at a time and do our best. The rest is up to fate.”
Dong Dongdong admired her attitude. “Teacher Song, you really have a great mindset. You don’t seem anxious at all.”
“Anxiety is an enormous source of negative energy,” Song Xinya said. “It’s like smog—it hangs over you and fills you with bad feelings. When a person slows down, peace follows. You have to avoid impatience and restlessness if you want to move steadily and go far.”
Dong Dongdong let out a long sigh. “I understand all the principles, but I can’t put them into practice. I suppose this is what they mean by, ‘The princess isn’t worried, but the prince is.’”
Chen Siyan stuck his head out from behind them. “I think what you mean is, ‘The emperor isn’t worried, but the eunuch is.’”
Dong Dongdong said, “Bro, can’t you ever say something nice for once?”
“We dogs only have canine teeth,” Chen Siyan replied. “We can’t spit out ivory.”
Song Xinya sat down at her workstation, turned on her computer, and logged into the company’s internal email system.
An unread email immediately caught her eye.
It was from Qin Yuhe, notifying every employee in the group that Zhao Yinian had been fired.
The email had been sent at ten the previous night.
Ten last night?
Song Xinya thought about it. Wasn’t that around the time she had finished showering and walked out wearing her black, extremely revealing pajamas?
And Qin Yuhe had been working with a completely serious expression on his face.
Had this been what he was busy with last night?
A Natasha flew over and landed with a smack on Song Xinya’s desk. Its father, Chen Siyan, arrived right afterward.
“Did you see that email? It was sent personally by President Qin. I’ve worked at Qin’s Group for so many years, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen President Qin email every employee to announce that someone had been fired.”
“This is basically a public shaming.”
“Zhao Yinian really has set a precedent.”
Song Xinya said, “She didn’t set a precedent. She opened the Ganges.”
Chen Siyan burst into laughter three times and gave Song Xinya a thumbs-up. “Teacher Song, that comparison is too perfect. The Abbess Miejue’s heart is as filthy as the Ganges River in India.”
Chen Siyan picked his son Natasha up from the desk, then poked its nostrils with his index and middle fingers. His main goal was clearly to make sure his little blackie suffered.
“Now that our company doesn’t even have a general manager, the office is as chaotic as a wet market. President Qin should appoint a new general manager soon.”
“Who do you think the new general manager will be?”
………
Thirty-eighth floor, the president’s office.
Qin Yuhe sat behind his desk while his assistant stood across from him, reporting on work matters.
“President Qin, regarding the matter you asked me to handle last night—contacting a headhunting firm to recruit Yuan Jingcheng—the other party has replied. He’s willing to join Qin’s Group.”
Yuan Jingcheng was a senior management expert in the education and training industry and the president of the International Education and Training Association. Not only did he have extensive experience managing domestic companies, but he was also highly skilled in managing overseas businesses.
Qin Yuhe wasn’t surprised that Yuan Jingcheng was willing to work for Qin’s Group. After all, he had offered him enough money.
More money than anyone else in the world could possibly offer Yuan Jingcheng.
No one would turn down that kind of money. Yuan Jingcheng was certain to come work for him.
The reason Qin Yuhe had spent so much money hiring Yuan Jingcheng was definitely not limited to having him manage the company. There was a deeper purpose behind it…
After confirming Yuan Jingcheng’s start date with his assistant, Qin Yuhe moved on to another matter.
“The evidence I collected last night has already been submitted to the police. Have they contacted us?”
The assistant replied, “The police have already confirmed everything with Qin’s Group’s legal department. There should be action from them very soon.”
………
On the eighth floor, shortly before the end of the workday, Song Xinya unexpectedly saw Zhao Yinian walk in.
Everyone in the office was stunned.
Wherever there was a spectacle, Chen Siyan was sure to be there.
“Well, well, Zhao Yinian, what brings you here?”
Zhao Yinian shot him a sidelong glance. “Do you own this company? Why can’t I come here?”
“President Zhao still sounds as confident as ever. Oh, no—look at me, I momentarily forgot. You’re not President Zhao anymore. President Qin fired you. Hahaha!”
Zhao Yinian looked like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She was so furious she could have clawed sparks out of the air.
Someone in the lobby remarked, “The former President Zhao must have come for something very important.”
At that, Zhao Yinian’s eyes lit up. Her expression turned smug, and she looked at Song Xinya with a gleam of triumph.
“President Qin asked me to come.”
Chen Siyan said, “Seriously? You’re not making that up, are you?”
“Of course it’s true. If President Qin hadn’t asked me to come, I wouldn’t have bothered.”
She spoke in a lofty tone, as though she were some priceless, high-ranking personage.
Zhao Yinian stared at Song Xinya, her words dripping with provocation. “Judging by your surprised expression, you’re President Qin’s wife. Didn’t President Qin tell you that he asked me to come?”
Song Xinya said, “He shares happy things with me. He doesn’t tell me about disgusting things.”
Chen Siyan couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. “Exactly. Who would want to share disgusting people and disgusting things with the person they love?”
Zhao Yinian let out an angry huff.
Go ahead and laugh. Laugh all you want, you disgusting people. Once President Qin announced the important matter he had specifically summoned her for, none of you would be able to laugh anymore.
A dense rush of footsteps came from outside the office.
Zhao Yinian quickly stretched her neck to look.
Several police officers in uniform and caps were approaching.
Everyone was stunned. Why had the police suddenly shown up?
One of the officers asked, “Which one of you is Zhao Yinian?”
Chen Siyan pointed at Zhao Yinian with both hands. “Her! It’s her! That’s her! That’s her!”
Someone silently followed up with a line from a song in their head:
“Our hero, little Nezha.”
The police officer walked up to Zhao Yinian. “We received a report accusing you of embezzlement, bribery, and misappropriating company assets. Detailed evidence has been submitted as well. You’ll need to come with us.”
Detailed evidence had been submitted!
If she were taken away, she’d never be able to swagger around again. She’d be locked up and sent to prison labor!
Zhao Yinian’s face was filled with terror. “Who? Who submitted the detailed evidence?”
Qin Yuhe’s tall, handsome figure entered the company and stopped beside Song Xinya. “I did.”
