Lin Wanyi’s tears fell like pearls.
How could she not be moved?
Such an outstanding man like Liu Renzhi—the ideal partner in so many women’s eyes—had feelings for her.
How could she not feel her heart flutter?
But she remained clear-headed.
She struggled to stay calm and asked Liu Renzhi,
“Have you really thought it through? Have you truly considered everything?”
“Liu Renzhi, if you’re sure, then you can’t regret it later. I won’t give you a chance to go back.”
Liu Renzhi nodded solemnly.
“Yes, I’ve thought it through. I’ve already thought it through a long time ago.”
“Wanyi, I told you before—I date with the goal of marriage, not just to fool around.”
“I want to marry you. Are you willing?”
Willing? Lin Wanyi was definitely willing.
She nodded, then gently bit his earlobe and said,
“If you won’t regret it, then I’m willing.”
“Liu Renzhi, you can’t regret this—ever. Promise me you won’t.”
Liu Renzhi wouldn’t regret it, but he was afraid Lin Wanyi might.
So he immediately got up, freshened up, and pulled Lin Wanyi toward Li Suhua’s room.
The sun outside was blazing, so the whole family was indoors.
Chen Hui and Liu Siyue were playing a game, while Lin Jiajun was catching up on sleep.
Wang Keke was working on the summer homework Lin Wanyi had assigned her, and Li Suhua fanned her from the side.
When Chen Hui saw Liu Renzhi holding Lin Wanyi’s hand, she immediately pointed at Lin Wanyi’s finger and gasped:
“Oh my god, a diamond ring! Yueyue, look at the ring on Sister-in-law Wanyi’s finger.”
“Oh my goodness, Brother Liu, did you just propose? I’m so excited I can’t even!”
Chen Hui was always straightforward. She grabbed Liu Siyue’s hand and shook it excitedly:
“Yueyue, you’re about to have a sister-in-law, and I’m about to have a brother-in-law!”
Liu Siyue was overjoyed too. She secretly sent a text to Su Jing:
“Mom, your future daughter-in-law is confirmed.”
Li Suhua watched Liu Renzhi and Lin Wanyi but said nothing, waiting for Liu Renzhi to speak first.
Sure enough, Liu Renzhi stood respectfully in front of Li Suhua and said,
“Auntie, I want to marry Wanyi. I want to spend my life with her.”
“Will you give us your blessing?”
Li Suhua turned to look at Lin Wanyi.
“Wanyi, you’re old enough to decide this for yourself.”
“Are you willing?”
Lin Wanyi raised their joined hands.
She nodded. “Mom, I’ve said yes.”
Li Suhua’s eyes instantly reddened. She turned away to wipe her tears before speaking again.
“Alright, as long as you’ve thought it through. Wanyi, it’s your choice.”
Hearing Li Suhua’s approval, Liu Renzhi immediately made her a promise:
“Auntie, rest assured. I will never let Wanyi suffer any grievance while she’s with me.”
“After we get back, I’ll have my assistant sort out all my assets. Aside from what’s set aside for my parents and sister, everything else will go to Wanyi.”
“No need,” Lin Wanyi quickly refused.
“There’s no need for that. That’s your money—you don’t have to give it to me.”
“Besides, I don’t know how to manage it. Ren Zhi, I won’t take it.”
Just as Liu Renzhi was about to argue, Liu Siyue spoke up,
“Sister-in-law, you have to take it. As the saying goes, where there’s love, there’s money.”
“This is my brother’s way of showing his love, and it’s also your security in the future.”
“You must accept it.”
“But I honestly don’t know how to manage it,” Lin Wanyi said sincerely.
A few hundred thousand, she could handle. But hundreds of millions—or even more—made her nervous.
She truly didn’t dare to accept it.
Su Jing, who had just arrived full of excitement, immediately interjected,
“That’s nothing to worry about. For investments, just find a reliable financial advisor.”
“Wanyi, you can learn all this slowly, no rush. After you two are married, I’ll introduce you to my own advisor.”
Lin Wanyi hadn’t expected Su Jing to be so supportive. She was so moved she didn’t know what to say.
Su Jing, however, took off the jade bracelet she had worn all her life and put it on Lin Wanyi’s wrist.
Her eyes, like Li Suhua’s, were red, and her voice even choked with emotion:
“Wanyi, welcome to our family. From now on, I’m officially entrusting Ren Zhi to you.”
Lin Wanyi touched the still-warm bracelet and felt, for the first time, a heart full of happiness.
Everything around her was happiness, with not a single regret.
The whole family was in high spirits.
Then Su Jing suddenly asked Lin Wanyi,
“Have you thought about changing Keke’s surname? You could give her yours or let her take Ren Zhi’s.”
Su Jing’s words reminded Lin Wanyi.
She should have done this long ago.
Wang Hao didn’t like Keke, and neither did the Wang family.
That surname “Wang” no longer meant anything.
She lifted Keke onto her lap and asked her,
“Keke, would you like to take Mom’s surname or Uncle Liu’s?”
Wang Keke tilted her head.
“Mom, are you going to give me a little brother or sister?”
Lin Wanyi was confused by the sudden question.
“What does that have to do with changing your surname?”
Wang Keke said seriously,
“Of course it does! If you have a little brother or sister, they’ll take Uncle Liu’s surname, right? And since they’re my siblings, I want the same surname as them.”
“Otherwise, people might say we’re not blood-related. So I’ll take uncle Liu’s surname, just like my future siblings.”
No one had expected Keke’s reasoning.
But everyone supported her, especially Liu Renzhi.
He was thrilled. He picked Keke up and spun her around.
“Great! From now on, Keke will be named Liu Keke.”
“As soon as your mom and I get married, I’ll legally change your name to Liu Keke and put you on my household registry.”
The moment Liu Renzhi said “married,” Su Jing jumped up as if she’d been jolted by electricity.
“Oh! I have to start planning now—the wedding, the venue, the wedding gown.”
“Who should we invite? Oh my, so much to do!”
She glanced at everyone.
“You all have fun. I’m going back to my room to make plans—serious plans.”
“My son’s wedding! Haha, my son is finally getting married!”
She laughed all the way back to her room.
But there, she fell on Liu Jiannan, crying and laughing at the same time.
“Husband, my mission is almost complete—it really is.”
“I’ve finally fulfilled my duty to my brother.”
“You know? I used to worry so much—what if Ren Zhi never got married?”
“I was afraid his parents’ situation might make him reject the idea of marriage. I didn’t want him to grow old alone.”
“But now it’s fine. Everything’s perfect.”
Liu Jiannan shared her joy.
For so many years, he had felt he owed Su Jing too much—far too much.
He thought for a moment. “How about this—you handle their wedding preparations during this time, and afterward, I’ll take you on a trip around the world.”
“Honey, you’ve worried about this family for so many years. From now on, you don’t have to worry about anything.”
“Leave everything to Ren Zhi and his wife. We’ll live our own lives.”
“No way,” Su Jing protested.
Liu Jiannan was surprised. “Why not? Don’t you want to travel with me?”
“No, that’s not it.” Su Jing rolled her eyes at him.
“All you think about is having fun. I have different plans.”
Liu Jiannan wasn’t annoyed at all. Instead, he rested his head on her shoulder.
“Oh, my dear honey, what do you have in mind?”
Su Jing gazed at the blue sky outside the window, her eyes filled with hope.
“Me? I’m just waiting for them to give me a little grandchild.”
“I want to babysit!”
