"Move out!"
At Liu Yutong's command, the convoy, like a steel dragon, rumbled out of Danan City under the cover of night, heading towards BS Province.
The fleet traveled day and night, stopping only for essential refueling and brief rests, barely pausing for a moment.
Liu Yutong's heart remained on edge throughout the journey. She had hardly slept a wink, and the closer they got to their destination, the greater the pressure she felt.
She could only silently pray that in this lifetime, everything would be different.
After entering BS Province, the mountain roads noticeably increased, forcing the convoy to slow down.
In the early hours of the morning, as they neared Bei C, the supply trucks and the vehicle carrying Liu Yutong pulled into a large service area for a break and resupply.
Most of the other vehicles, including the bus transporting the Wanlong Hui members, having traveled considerably faster than the trucks, had already exited the highway to find places to rest.
Only three or four cars remained with the trucks to ensure no issues arose with the supplies on the road.
By now, after the continuous long-distance travel, everyone from the truck drivers to Liu Yutong and her companions was exhausted. They all got out at the service area to stretch their legs.
Some headed for the restrooms, others went to buy hot food.
Although they had brought plenty of provisions, the Chinese soul still yearns for something warm. Going too long without hot food always leaves one feeling like something is missing.
Even a simple, steaming cup of instant noodles could bring immense satisfaction.
Liu Yutong also got out and went to make herself a cup of noodles.
The service area hall in the predawn hours was quite deserted; apart from their group, there were hardly any other travelers.
Besides Liu Yutong, one other person from Yunshan Hui had come along.
Zhu Silin.
According to her, her father had been transferred to BS Province and even promoted a level; he was now the provincial chief administrator.
She had come on a whim, partly to visit her father along the way.
Yunshan Hui currently had seven members, each with substantial backgrounds.
Only Liu Yutong herself had no background to speak of.
Zhu Silin, holding her own cup of noodles, sat down opposite Liu Yutong. While waiting for the noodles to steep, she couldn't help but ask again:
"Yutong-jie, we're almost in Bei C territory. Can't you tell me where exactly everyone is going for this 'training exercise'?"
"My father is here; maybe he can be of some help."
Liu Yutong could easily guess her thoughts—she was still curious about the real purpose of this trip, suspecting the previously mentioned training exercise was just a cover.
And in fact, it was indeed false.
However, during the journey, Liu Yutong had already devised a relatively perfect explanation to dispel their suspicions.
She put down her fork, wiped her mouth, and wore an expression that said 'I really can't do anything with you'. "Silin, actually, this action of mine probably seems a bit childish to you and Zhou Muchen. But for me, it's something I must do."
"Because you all have people to back you up. I don't."
"You might not know, but there are many people outside who want to see my Wanlong Hui destroyed. I just want to run legitimate businesses, but there are always those who want to cause us trouble."
"So, I need to build a 'golden shield' for myself, and for Wanlong Hui."
Zhu Silin: "A golden shield?"
Liu Yutong didn't spell it out too plainly: "I plan to establish a charitable foundation later. This operation is a kind of trial run."
Zhu Silin finally understood, thinking to herself, "No wonder the boss lady didn't explain clearly to them. So that's her plan."
Nowadays, many successful people engage in charity. Besides answering the ancient call of 'with prosperity comes the duty to benefit the world', charity offers many advantages.
For instance, it can secure policy support, win favor from leaders...
It's like adding a special, invisible protective talisman for oneself.
Thinking this, Zhu Silin suddenly felt ashamed.
She had never really thought about doing charity work herself, probably because, like the others in Yunshan Hui, she never had to worry about background or connections.
The boss lady was different. She was a true self-made woman, having built the Wanlong Hui group from the ground up. Naturally, she would become a target in many people's eyes, or rather, a coveted prize.
After all, wealth stirs men's hearts!
Hadn't their own Yunshan Hui initially had similar thoughts?
To prevent such things from happening again, the boss lady wanting to gain some sense of security through charity, to build that golden shield for herself and Wanlong Hui, was entirely reasonable.
The more she thought, the more ashamed Zhu Silin felt.
Although it was that Xue Chen who first suggested moving against Wanlong Hui, they had all tacitly agreed.
She now finally understood why the boss lady was unwilling to tell them the real reason. The root cause lay in their past actions, which had left a rift in the boss lady's heart.
Also, she guessed the boss lady's choice of BS Province for charity work wasn't random.
After all, BS Province was far from Wanlong Hui's home base. Coming all this way for charity seemed unnecessary.
She must have come here because of her, using action to convey to the other Yunshan Hui members a desire to completely dissolve the estrangement between them.
That's also why she didn't want to tell her, didn't want to tell the others.
Not only did the boss lady not hold a grudge against them for Yunshan Hui's past intentions, but she was also repaying their unkindness with kindness, going out of her way to deliver achievements for her, even for her father... This was simply...
Zhu Silin even felt her face grow hot, and she suddenly apologized to Liu Yutong.
"Yutong-jie, I'm sorry!"
She had to make it up to her.
Since she had come to a place under her father's jurisdiction to do charity, she couldn't remain indifferent.
This time, she must do everything in her power to help Yutong-jie make this a success. She needed to let her father know about Yutong-jie's goodwill, and more importantly, let the other Yunshan Hui members see that Yutong-jie truly regarded everyone as friends, as brothers and sisters.
From now on, everyone must sincerely acknowledge her as their boss lady.
After all, where else could you find such a good boss lady?
Hearing Zhu Silin's sudden apology, Liu Yutong was slightly taken aback. "What are you apologizing to me for?"
"Nothing."
Zhu Silin didn't plan to tell Liu Yutong just yet that she would inform her father about her coming here for charity, as she wanted to give Liu Yutong a surprise.
"Yutong-jie, can you tell me what you plan to do for this charity project?"
"I've seen people donate money, donate goods, but this is the first time I've seen someone bring all these emergency supplies. It feels a bit strange."
Liu Yutong pointed towards the endless mountains outside the window.
"Look at BS Province, especially places like Bei C. High mountains and deep valleys. Many children in towns and villages here, in their drive to escape the mountains, only know to bury their heads in books. They've never even participated in a proper outdoor activity. How can that be right? So I thought, why not organize a sports meet?"
Zhu Silin was stunned, completely failing to follow Liu Yutong's train of thought. "Huh? A sports meet?"
"Yes!"
Liu Yutong nodded. "I plan to organize a large-scale public welfare sports meet covering impoverished primary and middle schools in Bei C and several nearby cities. I've even thought of a name: the Rainbow Plan Aid-for-Education Sports Meet."
