After Rebirth, I Was Forced to Become the Mafia Princess!

Chapter 290

Liu Yutong had never been this furious before, and her words carried an uncharacteristic sharpness. She knew exactly what kind of people her grandparents were—if they were truly at fault, they would have taken responsibility without hesitation. There was no way they’d try to weasel out of it.

Besides, it wasn’t like they couldn’t afford to pay for the damages.

Then there was the chubby little boy hiding behind his mother, his face practically screaming that he was lying. She knew it wasn’t exactly fair to judge someone based on their expression, but kids that young were terrible at hiding their deceit.

And just moments ago, he’d even stuck his tongue out at her grandparents. What kind of normal child acted like that?

This was clearly a spoiled brat with no discipline.

The woman, seeing that Liu Yutong wasn’t the least bit intimidated and was instead standing her ground, started to waver. But then she remembered her husband’s connections, and her confidence surged back.

"Listen here, my husband is a big shot in the underworld! None of you are getting away with this today!"

"Oh really? Then tell him to come right now."

Liu Yutong turned to Yun Cheng and the dozen or so members of the Wanlong Society who had just arrived. "Pull up the surveillance footage. And while you’re at it, find out who this ‘big shot’ husband of hers really is."

The woman’s face paled at the mention of the surveillance, but she kept up her bravado. "Fine, check it! It was those two old geezers who broke it!"

But when the footage was finally displayed, it clearly showed the brat running wild through the store, bumping into the TV near Liu Yutong’s grandparents and sending it crashing to the ground.

The evidence was undeniable.

Liu Yutong fixed the woman with an icy stare. "Still want to lie?"

Realizing she couldn’t weasel out of it, the woman suddenly plopped onto the floor, wailing and slapping her thighs. "Waaah! They’re attacking us! Ganging up on a poor mother and her child!"

She was clearly trying to stir up chaos with her theatrics.

The store manager winced at the scene but stepped forward anyway. "Ma’am, the surveillance shows it was your son who damaged the TV. You’ll need to compensate us—6,999 yuan."

"Compensate? Why should I? I’m not paying a cent!"

"You’re all ganging up on us, forcing us to pay! Where’s the justice?!"

With that, the woman suddenly scrambled up and lunged at Liu Yutong’s grandmother, reaching out to grab her clothes.

Yun Cheng moved swiftly, blocking her path.

The woman, unable to stop her momentum, crashed right into him.

Then, in a shameless reversal, she yanked at her own collar and shrieked, "Pervert! This man just assaulted me!"

Her screeching was ear-piercing.

She rolled around on the floor, her once-neat hair now a tangled mess, looking like a complete madwoman.

Liu Yutong had no patience left for her performance. She walked over to her grandparents and said gently, "Let’s go home. It’s over."

Her grandfather sighed. "Forget it. Kids will be kids. We’ll just pay for the TV..."

"Pay? Not a chance."

Liu Yutong shot a glare at the still-wailing mother and son, her anger flaring again. "Shut up! Apologize!"

The woman ignored her, smug in the knowledge that with so many onlookers, Liu Yutong wouldn’t dare do anything drastic.

Yun Cheng, however, had no such reservations. He raised a hand and ordered, "Clear the area."

At his command, the dozen or so black-suited Wanlong enforcers immediately began ushering the gawking crowd away.

The bystanders, recognizing these men as trouble, didn’t dare linger. Some even recognized the Wanlong Society insignia and bolted faster.

Once the area was cleared, one of the men went straight to the store’s surveillance system and unplugged it.

Now, faced with the realization that this unfamiliar young woman meant business, the woman on the floor finally started to panic.

Just then, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, she clutched it like a lifeline, answering with a sob. "Husband! Come quick! Someone’s bullying our son!"

"We’re at Yuda Mall, third floor, electronics section..."

A cold, middle-aged voice growled from the other end, "Who the hell dares? Put them on the phone. Let’s see who’s got a death wish!"

The woman’s confidence surged again. Wiping her tears, she glared at Liu Yutong. "You’re done for! Just wait till my man gets here!"

Yun Cheng snatched the phone and handed it to Liu Yutong.

She took it calmly. "This is Liu Yutong. Come if you dare. I’ll be waiting."

Dead silence.

A few seconds later, the line went dead with a dial tone.

Liu Yutong: "???"

The woman on the floor was stunned.

What just happened? Did he accidentally hang up?

Her husband was a high-ranking member of the Donghai Alliance—there was no way he’d be scared of some girl.

Must have been a mistake.

But when she redialed, all she got was an unanswered ring.

Liu Yutong didn’t care for the details. She turned back to the woman, her voice steel. "Apologize. Last chance."

The woman’s face twisted between rage and fear before she finally muttered, "...Sorry."

Liu Yutong didn’t bother with them further, helping her grandparents leave.

Outside the mall, her grandfather patted her hand and sighed. "Yutong, you shouldn’t be so rash. Violence is never the answer..."

She pressed her lips together but didn’t argue.

She knew she’d lost her temper, but the thought of that woman slandering her grandparents made her blood boil all over again.

"Grandpa, I know. But some people won’t learn unless they’re taught a lesson."

Her grandfather sighed again but said nothing more.

He could tell his granddaughter had changed—drastically.

Whether that change was for better or worse, he couldn’t say.

After seeing her grandparents home to rest, Liu Yutong summoned Yun Cheng.

"Did you send someone to keep an eye on that mother and son?"

Yun Cheng nodded. "Already done."

Liu Yutong’s eyes gleamed with calculation as she recalled the caller ID. "So Zhao Tianxing has a mistress. And a son."

She’d seen the name on the phone.

Given Zhao Tianxing’s status, there was no reason for him to hang up without a word—unless he was hiding something.

And that something had to be this woman and child.

Liu Yutong tapped her chin lightly, a smirk playing at her lips.

This little family was definitely a secret.

At the very least, Zhao Tianxing’s real family had no idea they existed.

Which made this situation… very, very interesting.
