No matter where a female goes, she’ll bring her beastmen husbands along.
Yunyang naturally didn’t mind. After all, her villa was spacious enough.
[All right. I’ll bring my husbands over for lunch tomorrow.]
After arranging the lunch date with Chu Zhiwei, Yunyang sent a message to You Lu, then opened the group chat with her five husbands.
[Yunyang: Lord Zhiwei and her husbands are coming over for lunch tomorrow. Remember to make preparations.]
After sending the message, she didn’t bother checking how her husbands had responded. She switched back to the Interstellar Network and continued scrolling through sleep-aid videos.
Her days and nights had been reversed for so long that she was a little unable to fall asleep now.
It was only after scrolling for more than half an hour that Yunyang finally began to feel drowsy. She shut off her optical computer and closed her eyes.
Compared to the past few days, this already counted as an early bedtime. The next morning, she woke up before ten.
When she finished washing up and went downstairs, her five husbands were already busy in the kitchen, all wearing aprons.
Since another female and her husbands were coming over, the five men were dressed especially formally. None of them intended to flirt with Yunyang in front of outsiders.
But—
Their serious outfits paired with aprons created a striking contrast, which only made Yunyang want to tease them even more.
She walked toward the kitchen in her little white tiger slippers and began getting in the way of her five husbands.
Knowing that Chu Zhiwei had many husbands, the five men had all gone into the kitchen to work today.
Faced with Yunyang’s wandering hands, the five of them were both happy and helpless.
They were happy because their female had taken a liking to them, which meant they wouldn’t lose her favor.
They were helpless because with their female causing trouble like this, they genuinely had no mind left for cooking.
Fu Shiyi caught the hand Yunyang had pressed against his abs and looked at her helplessly. “Female.”
He called to her softly, then picked her up and carried her into the living room, setting her down on the sofa.
“Play here for a while. We’ll call you when the food is ready.”
Yunyang pouted. “Fine.”
She kicked off her slippers, sat cross-legged on the sofa, and started browsing the Interstellar Network.
The three butler robots, numbers one, two, and three, approached with excellent awareness and took over the work that had originally belonged to the five husbands.
A little after eleven, Butler One suddenly headed outside. When he returned, he was holding a package.
“Master, you have a delivery.”
Another package?
Yunyang took it and scanned it with her optical computer. Only after confirming it was safe did she open it.
It was a package from Lulu, so there was certainly nothing dangerous or suspicious inside.
All packages in the Federation used spatial compression technology. Although the packages looked small from the outside, they contained a great deal of space within.
Yunyang took two boxes out of the package.
There was a note from You Lu on each box. One was for her, and the other was for Chu Zhiwei.
Yunyang opened the box meant for her and found it filled with neatly arranged mermaid silk.
The mermaid silk came in various colors and was as thin as a cicada’s wing. If she looked closely, it seemed as though ripples of water were flowing through it. It really was excellent fabric.
You Lu had promised her before that if she took a merman as a husband, she would give her some mermaid silk to make clothes.
It seemed Nan Meng had already moved into You Lu’s home.
Yunyang had Butler One put her box of mermaid silk away. She planned to find someone to turn it into clothes later.
As for Chu Zhiwei’s box, she didn’t examine it. She simply had Butler Two set it aside for the time being, then took a picture and sent it to You Lu to let her know the package had arrived.
Not long after she signed for the delivery, the butler robots detected that someone was visiting.
After all, the visitor was an S-rank female, so Yunyang naturally went out to greet her personally.
The five husbands had just about finished preparing lunch. They had taken off their aprons and followed behind her.
The front door opened automatically, and Chu Zhiwei, accompanied by more than a dozen husbands, entered Yunyang’s view.
Yunyang instinctively counted them.
Good heavens—eighteen. That was one more than the total number of husbands she and Lulu had combined.
Lady Zhiwei truly was a model female.
With that thought, Yunyang greeted her, “Lord Zhiwei—”
“If you don’t mind, just call me Sister Zhiwei like Lulu does.”
“Sister Zhiwei.” Yunyang smoothly changed how she addressed her. “Then, just like Lulu, call me Yangyang.”
A gentle smile rested on Chu Zhiwei’s face. She glanced over Yunyang’s five husbands, then suddenly reached out and pulled Yunyang in front of her.
Lowering her head, she whispered, “Yangyang, you have far too few husbands. How about I introduce you to a few?”
Yunyang: “…”
All right, there was another person who liked introducing husbands to her.
“For now, there’s no need, Sister Zhiwei.”
Yunyang politely declined. She went by feelings when choosing a partner and didn’t like other people making introductions for her.
Worried that Chu Zhiwei might say something else, Yunyang pulled her toward the villa. “Sister Zhiwei, let’s eat first. The food will get cold if we wait any longer!”
The eighteen husbands accompanying Chu Zhiwei all wore the same puzzled expression.
The dining table in Lady Yunyang’s home didn’t have a heat-preservation system?
The eighteen husbands followed them inside, still baffled.
Chu Zhiwei, however, understood that Yunyang was changing the subject, so she let Yunyang lead her to the dining table.
Before the meal, the five husbands extended the dining table.
But it seemed somewhat unnecessary.
Apart from two of them, all of Chu Zhiwei’s other husbands very consciously stood behind her, with no intention of taking a seat at the table.
Yunyang understood.
Those two were the most favored.
Just like Yu Wenxu in Lulu’s household.
No one found it strange that the other sixteen husbands didn’t sit down, and Yunyang had no intention of interfering.
Still, she had all five of her own husbands sit at the table.
Chu Zhiwei was somewhat surprised, but she quickly understood.
Yangyang had too few husbands, so she hadn’t yet chosen who would be the most favored.
She glanced at the five men serving food onto Yunyang’s plate and suddenly said, “Yangyang, the reason I came to X92 Star this time is that the Genetic Research Institute invited me to help.”
The Genetic Research Institute on X92 Star?
Yunyang tilted her head, indicating that she was willing to listen.
A trace of amusement flashed through Chu Zhiwei’s eyes as she continued, “Some time ago, they brought a mutant merman back from T01 Star. His contamination was extremely severe, and his ability was very unusual. When attacking, he could increase the contamination level of the person he attacked.”
Yunyang paused.
T01 Star.
The mutant merman.
That unique ability.
Wasn’t this describing the mutant merman the merfolk had brought back from the secret base?
A pair of deep-sea-blue eyes suddenly surfaced in Yunyang’s mind.
She couldn’t help asking, “And then?”
“He was too aggressive, and the researchers at the institute had no way to determine the details of his mutation, so they asked me to help purify the contamination in the mutant merman.”
At the time, Chu Zhiwei had just returned from the Third Legion’s base.
The director of the Genetic Research Institute was acquainted with her, which was why he had asked for her assistance.
As for what happened after the purification—
The smile at the corners of Chu Zhiwei’s lips deepened. “Over the past few days, that merman’s contamination has dropped to below fifty. But aside from his ability, he doesn’t show any signs of mutation at all.”
“Besides, he refuses to communicate with any of the researchers. He only keeps muttering one name.”
The five husbands suddenly had a bad feeling.
Yunyang paid no attention to their thoughts and asked curiously, “What name?”
Chu Zhiwei kept her in suspense. She leisurely picked up a piece of salt-and-pepper chicken wing and took a bite, not forgetting to offer her critique.
“Yangyang, your husbands are excellent cooks.”
Yunyang couldn’t take in a word of it.
She grabbed Chu Zhiwei’s arm and gave it a gentle shake.
“Sister Zhiwei, hurry up and tell me. What name did the mutant merman keep muttering?”
“You really want to know?”
Yunyang nodded. Leaving a story half-finished was enough to drive anyone crazy.
Chu Zhiwei glanced at her five beast husbands before slowly saying, “Yangyang.”
“Hmm?”
